Samuel Joseph “Joe” Summers, Sr., 80 of Brandywine, MD passed away on October 14, 2014 at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital in Clinton, MD. He was born on May 12, 1934 in Westwood, MD to the late John Francis Summers and the late Lucile Augusta (Mudd) Summers. Joe took pride in farming the family farm. He was devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Ray Vest, Reliable and Locust Lane Construction Company. Joe also enjoyed staying in touch with his graduating class of 1953 from Gwynn Park High School. In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by his wife, Rose Angeline (Nimmerrichter) Summers; brothers, John F. Summers, Jr. and Edwin G. Summers; and grandchild, Samuel Summers, III. Joe is survived by his son, Samuel J. Summers, Jr. (Carol); brother, Larry Summers; sisters, Nancy E. Hedrick and Marie L. Summers; grandchildren, Misty A. Peed, Tara L. Martin, Melissa J. Koempel, Richard D. Summers and Robert D. Summers; and great grandchildren, Andrew J. Peed, Rebeca L. Peed, Jenna A. Peed and Everett Dean Koempel.
