Richard Lee Wilson Sr., 79 of Solomons, MD died January 21, 2015, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Fort Smith, AR on October 24, 1935, the first of three boys, born to Mary Alice nee Timmons and Richard H. Wilson. He grew up in Fort Smith and shortly after his 17th birthday joined the U.S. Navy. After boot camp, and several schools, he was assigned to the Pearl Harbor submarine base during which time he graduated from McKinley High School in Honolulu, HI. After 27 months at Pearl Harbor he was transferred to the U.S.S Nereus a submarine tender stationed in San Diego, CA. After his discharge in October 1956 and a brief stay in Redondo Beach, CA, he moved to Washington, DC where he met his future wife Rose Agnes nee Greenwell of Leonardtown, MD who he married on August 3, 1957. Richard tried several different jobs, including tobacco farming on his mother-in-law’s farm.
