Pearl Elizabeth Long, 93 of Temple Hills, MD, formerly of St. Mary’s, passed away Friday, March 20, 2015 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in St. Mary’s County, MD on March 4, 1922 to the late Hiram Hewitt and Madeline Long. Pearl was born raised and spent most of her life in St. Mary’s County, before moving to Temple Hills to be near her children. She was married to the late Francis Johnson Long. She was a beautiful seamstress and made many pieces of clothing for her family and friends. She enjoyed gardening and cooking family meals. She made many delicious home cooked country meals. Family was her greatest pride and joy, and she loved to spend her time with them. Pearl is survived by her son, Charles Long (Peggy) of Temple Hills, MD; her sisters, Ruby Cheseldine of Bushwood, MD and Frances Ruark of Salisbury, MD; three grandchildren and one great grandchild. In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by her son, James Long; daughter, Doris Bates; and her siblings, Joseph Hewitt, James Hewitt, Frederick Hewitt, Ben Hewitt, John Hewitt, Hilda Richardson and Helen Ruark.
