Tautalagia “Tuni” Sotoa Numera, age 86, went to Heaven on Monday, June 1, 2015. Tuni was born February 27, 1929, in Pago Pago, American Samoa, the son of the late Taua & Siao Numera. He proudly served his country in the USMC for 27 years, retiring at the rank of Master Sergeant. Serving combat tours in both Korea and Vietnam, he was awarded several medals for valor; to include, the Navy and Marine Corps Medal, Bronze Star (Combat V), and Purple Heart (with Gold Star). Tuni continued his commitment to our country’s safety, working as a security officer for various government contractors and serving as a member of the Marine Corps League. Tuni had a smile and a story for everyone he met, was loving and generous with friends and family alike. His door was always open and his table always had room for one more. Tuni is survived by his wife, Eleanor; children, Zina Trinidad, Cynthia Winoski, Anthony Trinidad (Cathy), Jeffrey Trinidad (Kathy), Michael Numera, Elena Poe (Timothy), and Christina Numera-Segreti; 23 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Aluese and Apisa.
