Ronald (Ronnie) Lee Thompson, Sr. 63 of Leonardtown, MD, formerly from Avenue, MD & Colton’s Point, MD, passed away on July 14, 2015 at his residence. Born on December 29, 1951 in Leonardtown, MD, he was the son of the late Genevieve A. Hayden Thompson and Joseph Augustus “Gussy” Thompson, Sr. Ronnie was the loving husband of Sharon A. Thompson, whom he married on April 12, 1975 in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Avenue, MD. Ronnie is survived by his sons: Ronnie Lee Thompson, Jr., and Joseph “Joey” Thompson both of Leonardtown, MD, and 4 grandchildren. Siblings: Buddy (Joseph, Jr.) Thompson, Robbie Thompson, both of Clements, MD, and Gene Thompson of Waldorf, MD. He was preceded in death by his brothers; William (Billy) Thompson, and Carl Thompson. He was a lifelong St. Mary’s County, MD resident and graduated from Chopticon High School in 1970. Ronnie joined the United States Navy and served for 2 years, earning the National Defense Medal.
