Virginia Tuthill Houston, 85 of Solomons, MD died Monday, July 20, 2015, at Hospice House of St. Mary’s in Callaway, MD surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 20, 1929 in Riverhead, NY to the late Sidney P. Tuthill and Adelaide H. Satterly. On July 1, 1950, Virginia married her beloved husband, Robert N. Houston, in Mattituck, NY. Together they celebrated over 65 wonderful years together. She was a dedicated secretary at the Pearl River, NY School District for almost 20 years. Virginia was a loving wife and mother, and always took good care of her family. She enjoyed spending time visiting with them, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Virginia played piano and flute and loved singing. She also enjoyed genealogy and sharing family history. Virginia was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, Order of the Eastern Star, P.E.O., Church of the Ascension in Lexington Park, MD, a volunteer gardener for Sotterley Plantation and a guide at the St. Mary’s County Historical Society.
