Bettye Sweet “Baboo” Rabil, 98, of California, MD, passed away on March 31, 2016 at University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center. She was born on April 4, 1917 in Washington, D.C. to the late Leonard Slater Sweet and Mildred Elizabeth Helwig. On June 30, 1961 Baboo married her beloved husband, Floyd Andrew Rabil, Sr. in Alexandria, VA. They celebrated over 37 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in June 1998. She was employed with over 30 years of dedicated service in retail sales until her retirement in 1971 from the Hecht Company. As an avid traveler, she enjoyed touring the world and taking cruises. She was extremely knowledgeable and well versed in current and world politics. Globally, she had an understanding of many cultures. She was an avid reader and enjoyed reading the Washington Post on a daily basis from cover to cover. She studied foreign policy and learned a great deal in her many travels. She was a beautiful dancer and was always fashionable. She had a zeal for life, was very sociable and lived every minute to the fullest.
