Mary Helen Bowles, 72, of Hollywood, MD, passed away at home on Monday, May 9, 2016 while surrounded by her family. Born April 16, 1944 in Leonardtown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Francis Marcellus and Mary Thelma (Clarke) Abell. She was married to Lewis Clements Bowles, Jr. for over 50 years. Mary Helen was an avid reader and country music fan. She attended St. John’s Catholic School (Class of 1958) as well as St. Mary’s Academy (Class of 1962). Mary Helen was employed with the United States Navy mess management at Pax Naval Air Station until becoming a stay at home mother. During that time she volunteered with St. John’s Catholic School and St. Mary’s American Little League. Within the league she was a team mother, Vice President, Treasurer and Scorekeeper at various times. Every summer you could see her at the raffle booth at the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department Carnival.
