Minerva Gertrude Eaton, 71 of Hollywood, MD, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2013. On December 24, 1941, Minerva was born to the late James Virgil and Mary Ella Swales in St. Mary’s County, Maryland. She completed her education in the St. Mary’s County school system. Minerva was married to Marvin Eaton, Sr. for 52 years. He affectionately nicknamed her “Tootsie.” From that union four children were born-Tisa, Jacqueline, Kimberly and Marvin, Jr., whom she loved dearly. She was a special mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. Minerva retired with thirty-five years of service from the Washington Hospital Center, Washington, DC. She was raised as a Christian and joined From the Heart Church Ministries in 2008. She had a love for home décor; she would browse through magazines and model homes for ideas. Shopping and traveling with her husband, children and grandchildren was one of her enjoyable past times. She also enjoyed cooking for the family. Minerva often welcomed her home to many who had need. Despite her personal battles, she never stopped caring for others. She served in the Physical Stewardship Ministry until the progression of her illness.
