David C. Granger, 72 of California, MD., died on November 12, 2013 at Washington Hospital Center. Born November 18, 1941 in McKeesport, PA, he was the son of the late Clifford McClaren Granger and Sara Genevieve (Wilson) Granger. David graduated from Clairton High School, Clairton, PA in 1959. Not yet 18, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy; was honorably discharged on November 27, 1962 with a good conduct medal. Dave, a long-time resident of St. Mary’s County, relocated his family here in 1972 from Long Island, NY. As a Navy veteran, a member of the Patuxent River NAS community and an advocate to the youth sports leagues, Dave’s presence in the community was felt by many. The area was the perfect canvas for his love of fishing, cycling, football, and aviation. Dave recently retired as Deputy Director, PAE Test and Training Ranges. Dave married his loving wife Donna (Dion) Granger, from Key West, FL, on June 1, 1963 where they began their lifelong friendship and love.
