Winnie Cox Elliott, age 104, died Sept. 19, 2016 in Solomons, MD. She was born Aug. 30, 1912 in Lee Co., Va. to William S. and Ida Mae Cox. Winnie attended Emory & Henry College. She worked for the Lee Co., VA school system until 1936 when she married John H. Elliott of Baltimore, Md. (1912-1999). She resided in Wash., DC until 2000 when she moved to the Asbury-Solomons retirement community in Solomons, MD. Winnie is survived by her 3 children and their spouses, daughter Susan Elliott-Chikar and husband Michael Chikar of Leonardtown, MD, son John H. Elliott Jr. and wife Colleen of Winchester, VA, and daughter Anita Worthington and husband Robert of Las Cruces, NM; 3 grandchildren, Susan Bontly, Julie Coley and Karen Worthington; 5 great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law Virginia Cox of Jonesville, VA. Always an active person, Winnie enjoyed volunteering and socializing. She was known for her quick-wit, her positive and fun-loving personality, and was loved by all who knew her. Private Services
