Franklin “Frank” Wilson Dean, 93 of Hollywood, MD, died peacefully on January 14, 2014, at his residence. He was born June 6, 1920, in Hollywood, MD, to the late George Wilson Dean and Effie Graves Dean. Frank proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1944 to 1945, serving on Iwo Jima during World War II, and receiving the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in battle. On October 2, 1953, Frank married his beloved late wife, Mary Gertrude Hayden Dean. They spent 53 wonderful years together before her death in 2006. He was employed for 60 years and was Manager at Dean Lumber and Supply Company, Hollywood. He and his late brother, Robert Dean, developed Esperanza Farms in Lexington Park; throughout his life, Frank invested in other real estate endeavors, including Twin Ponds in Hollywood. He served on the Board of Directors of the First National Bank of St. Mary’s, which later merged with Mercantile Bank. Frank was a proud Charter Member of the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department, serving as its first Treasurer, and remained committed to its growth, success and community support throughout his life.
