Lucille A. Cummings, 91 of Lexington Park, MD died peacefully in her sleep at Chesapeake Shores Nursing Center on March 19, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. She was born the last of 14 children by Italian Immigrants. She was the sole survivor, but is now being reunited. Lucille genuinely adored people. She loved making others laugh and was a natural born comedian. She was much loved by the people whose spirit she touched. She graduated from the prestigious St. Mary’s Hospital Nurses training unit in New Haven, CT as a Registered Nurse and soon shipped off to San Diego, CA with her sister, Susan, also an R.N. It was there that a two week, love at first sight, whirlwind romance with her husband-to-be, Jeff Cummings occurred. There are no words to express the exhilaration of such an experience. Within two weeks they were married. Jeff was soon re-stationed to Corpus Christi, TX, where their first child, Wayne was born. The next stop would be Patuxent River Naval Air Station.
