Joan McCauley Holloman, 82 of Lexington Park, MD died April 4, 2014 at home with both of her daughters by her side. Born April 26, 1931 in Rome, NY, she was the daughter of the late Francis X. McCauley and Irene A. (Hamilton) McCauley. After graduating from Rome Free Academy, she worked as a telephone operator for the Telephone Company in Rome, NY and continued that career until retirement in 1993 in the engineering department in LaPlata, MD. Joan loved to travel with friends and while on vacation in 1953, met her husband who was stationed at Patuxent River Naval Air Station, S.D. “Holly” Holloman. She traveled with her husband to various duty stations in Hawaii, California, Florida, and finally Patuxent River Naval Air Station where they remained. Joan cherished her family, loved her friends from the telephone company and ADF bingo. She was an avid beach goer and Washington Redskins fan. Joan is survived by her daughters, Karen Lord (Tim) of Valparaiso, FL and Carol Waldschmitt (Bob) of Solomons, MD; grandchildren, Michael Ryan, Lindsey Poole Honeyman (Brandon), Robert Waldschmitt, ChrisWaldschmitt, and Shannon Lord; three great grandchildren, Alyssa Ryan, Brody Broxson and Sophia Ryan; and sister, Mary Rhoads of Tulsa, OK.
