Elsie Marie Miller Finn, 76, died on July 8. Elsie was born on October 14, 1937 to Ethel May Walls and Clyde Joseph Miller, at their home in Suitland, Maryland, and was the third of five girls. Elsie’s dad was born in Washington, D. C. He was a store manager for National Equipment & Supply Co in D. C. Her mom was born in Suitland, Md. She worked in food preparation and sales. Her maternal grandfather, Benjamin Walls, had a grocery store down the hill from his house. He was an excellent produce farmer and also worked for the RR. Her maternal grandmother, Emma Minto Walls possessed a beautiful singing voice and had been schooled at the Chicago Institute of Music. They both were from Maryland and lived across the road from her in Suitland. Her paternal grandfather, Charles Miller, was born in Philadelphia, Pa and was lastly a druggist. Emma Clyde, her paternal grandmother, was born in Greeneville, S. C. They moved to Washington, D. C. after they were married. During her youth she enjoyed playing with her sisters at Suitland and then Allentown, Md. Elsie learned to play the guitar and piano when she young and dreamed of singing and writing songs.
