Timothy Andrew Quade, “Timmy Bone”, 39, of Mechanicsville, MD passed away on August 4, 2018. Born on November 18, 1978, he was the son of Carol Quade and Franklin Quade, Sr. of Mechanicsville, MD. Timmy is survived by his finance M. Dawn Delozier of Mechanicsville, MD. As well as his children; Jayden Quade, Gabriel Quade and Step Son Sebastian Yotko all of Mechanicsville, MD. He is survived by his siblings Mary Williams of Mechanicsville, MD and Frankie Quade, Jr. of Hollywood, MD. He was a lifelong St. Mary’s County, MD. Timmy attended Chopticon High School and was a carpenter. The family will receive friends on August 9, 2018 from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD. A Funeral Service will follow at 7:00 PM in the Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor George Jarboe and Pastor Donna Jarboe officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery Mechanicsville, MD.

Robert “Bobby” Aloysius Hill, 77, of Avenue, MD passed away on August 5, 2018. Bobby was born January 29, 1941 in Maddox, MD. He was the son of the late Zachary Joseph Hill Sr and Mary Edith Hill. Bobby was the loving husband of Catherine Norma Hill and is survived by their four children: Barbara Lynn Clothier (Eric) of Clements, MD; Robert Allen Hill (Heather) of Hollywood, MD; Rene Alice Douglas (Kenny) of Clements, MD and Angie Marie Haynes (Kevin) of Mechanicsville, MD; 8 grandchildren: Danielle Douglas, Shannon Wilkinson (Travis), Kyle Clothier, Cody Douglas (Karli), Kolby Haynes, Dylan Hill, Mandi Hill and Kolton Haynes; and 2 great grandchildren Brody Douglas and River Douglas. He is also survived by his siblings Celie Hill, Edith Mae Bell, Betsy Guy, and Ree Knott. He was preceded in death byhis son Ronald Aloysius Hill and his sisters Mary Loretta Lawrence and brothers Jimmy and Zack Hill. Michael Anthony Lee Sr. was born August 21st, 1965 in Leonardtown, MD. He unexpectedly passed on August 6th, 2018 at the age of 52. Michael was employed by Jimmy Richards and Sons Excavating Inc. for many years as a heavy equipment operator and pipe layer. He occasionally worked at Ye Old Town Cafe doing what he enjoyed; cooking and baking. Michael also created a side business selling his cakes and pies, he had dreams of one day opening a bar of his own called “Mud Puddles” Michael was an enthusiastic character who always left people with a smile. He was always singing, dancing, and cracking jokes. He enjoyed baking; his cakes and pies were well known throughout the county while his Mac and cheese was a hit at every gathering. Joseph “Joe” Charles Jackson, Sr., 64 of St. Inigoes, MD passed away on August 7, 2018 in Baltimore, MD. Born May 16, 1954 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Louise Alice Jackson and Robert Lee Jackson. Joe is survived by his son Joe (Julie) Jackson, Jr., of Hollywood, MD, his companion Shana Mandeville of St. Inigoes, MD, Grandchildren; Dylan, Carmen, Kelcie and Kinley Jackson all of Hollywood, MD, and brother; James Jackson of Viroqua, WI. Joe graduated from Ryken High school in 1972, he was a Program Manager for the U.S. Government working at Patuxent River Naval Station. Joe was an avid golfer and poker player who also participated for many years in the St. Mary’s County softball league and Tuesday night pool league. Karen Yvonne Shipley, 63, of Mechanicsville, MD, passed away on August 3, 2018, lovingly surrounded by her family. Karen was born to Thomas C. Shipley and Geraldine E. Jesse Shipley, in Baltimore, MD, on March 26, 1955. Karen graduated from Thomas Stone High School in 1973 and went directly to work with the C&P Telephone Company. In 1974, she married her high school sweet heart, Gerry, whom she had and raised three children with in Mechanicsville, MD. She was a talented sewer and gardener who avidly went antiquing and even owned a small antique business for a few years. Karen enjoyed traveling, whether to a beach, a cruise, or to major cities like New York or London. After retiring as an administrative assistant from the U.S. Census Bureau, she lived in Naples, Florida where she enjoyed the beaches. She relished spending time with her family, especially her precious grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Thomas and Geraldine Shipley, Karen is survived by her son Bryan T. Virgil Ellis Pool, Sr. 94, of Leonardtown, MD (formerly of Miami, FL) passed away on Monday, August 6, 2018 at St. Mary’s Nursing Center in Leonardtown, MD with his family at his side. He was born on October 10, 1923 in Chambersburg, IL to the late Archie and Helen Metz Pool. In 1941 Virgil enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country as a pilot flying B-42 Bombers in World War II until his Honorable Discharge in December 1946. During his service he earned the American Theatre Ribbon and World War II Victory Ribbon. In October 1944, Virgil married his beloved wife, Elise Bragg Pool. Together, they celebrated over 71 wonderful years of marriage before her passing in March 2016. He was employed over 30 years as a dedicated owner of Virgil Pool Insurance as an insurance agent. His family was his greatest joy and he enjoyed spending his time with them. He was also an avid golfer. He was a member of Fellowship Bible Church in Winchester, VA. Robert Margerum “Bob” Kirk, 72

Robert Margerum “Bob” Kirk passed away at the Hospice House of St. Mary’s on August 3, 2018 in Callaway, Maryland at the age of 72. He was born on September 13, 1945 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to David Baldwin Kirk and Dorothy Lorraine (Rickert) Kirk. He graduated from Susquehanna University with a degree in Biology. In 1965, Bob enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country in Viet Nam as a Navy Corpsman until his Honorable Discharge in September 1969. During his service he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Viet Nam Service Medal with 3 stars, and Viet Nam Campaign Medal. He married Donna Louise Hampton in 1969 with whom he had three children. His career as a Quality Assurance manager in the food industry led him to jobs at Alpo in Allentown, PA, Armour Dial in Fort Madison, IA, and Sunshine Biscuits in Columbus, GA. He spent his retirement years in service to the Veterans Alliance of North Georgia where he was an active bugler, Toastmasters International where he served as a chapter officer, and youth mentorship in the Forsyth County Schools. Our beloved Mom, Romayne Helen Osborn (a.k.a. Mommom), of La Plata, MD, passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at the age of 90. Romayne was born to William and Olga Lubitz on August 16, 1927 in Perham, MN. She grew up as the youngest of five and attended Perham High School. After high school she moved to Washington, DC, and worked at the Pentagon, where she met her future husband. On November 22, 1947, she married Charles Osborn. After marriage, she moved to Beltsville, MD, where she and her husband started their family. Since he was in the army, they then moved to Minnesota, Germany, Texas, and back to Maryland. While in Maryland, she worked at Behnke Nursery and later at Control Data/Arbitron, where she retired. She was a hip grandma who enjoyed her computer, had a Facebook page, and enjoyed drawing, painting, coloring and word searches. She had a great sense of humor and loved a good joke – even the dirty ones. She played the piano, the accordion, the ukulele and loved to sing harmony. She will be greatly missed. Theresa (Sissie) Tippett, 71, of Hollywood, MD, passed away on August 13, 2018 surrounded by her loving family in her home. Theresa was born December 12, 1946 in Leonardtown, MD to William Leo Morgan and Mary Helen Morgan. Theresa married the love of her life Francis (Leonard) Tippett in 1966. She is the loving mother of Vickie Tippett, Karen Layman, Cathy Dean, and Melissa Tippett. She is also survived by her siblings; Elaine and Jackie Berry, Beverly and Larry Dean, Sharon and Ronnie Downs, Cindy and Tommy Popelarcheck, Debrse and Denise Bunch. William Leo (Pee Wee) and Pam Morgan, Gary and Patty Morgan, Greg and Debbie Morgan, Ronnie and Colleen Morgan and Shawn Morgan. As well as 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Theresa graduated from Chapticon High School in 1966, played softball (Right Center), darts, horseshoes, and shuffleboard. She was on the first women’s baseball team in St. Mary’s, MD. TSgt. Bobby Wayne March (USAF, Ret.), 82, of Lexington Park, MD, passed away Monday, August 6, 2018, at his home. He was born on April 14, 1936 in Wilburton, OK, to the late George W. March and Cecile Caselman March. On January 9, 1958 Bob enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country until his retirement in 1975 as a Technical Sergeant. He served during the Korean War. In June 1976, he married his beloved wife, Elizabeth C. March. Together they celebrated over 35 wonderful years of marriage until her passing in March 2012. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for ManTech as a mechanic for many years. He enjoyed traveling especially to Oklahoma to visit his family. He was a skilled handyman and took pride in fixing many things. He was a Dallas Cowboy fan, enjoyed playing cards, and was a World War II history buff. Darlene Ann “Dee” Palmer 58, of Lexington Park, MD passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018 at Hospice House of St. Mary’s in Callaway, MD. She was born on June 23, 1960 in Baltimore, MD to Charles Dollenger and Carolyn Virginia Cameron. Darlene met her husband Earl Palmer III a blind date on February 1980. The two were married in Chesapeake, VA on May 2, 1980 and have been happily married for 38 years. The couple have lived numerous places since Earl was in the Navy. They lived in Chesapeake, VA for a bit then they moved to Norfolk, VA until he got out of the Navy in January 1982. Once her husband was out of the Navy they moved in with her mother-in-law in November 1982 in East Greenwich, RI until her husband reenlisted in the Navy again. Her husband reenlisted in the military in 1982 and they were stationed for 3 years in Milton, FL, then they did a year in Portsmouth, VA until her husband finished his last duty station there and then they moved to St. Leonard, MD to live with her sister-in-law in Lusby, MD. Jeffrey Lawrence Mattingly, 74, of Leonardtown, MD passed away Friday, August 10, 2018 at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. He was born on September 21, 1943 in Washington, D.C. to the late Francis J. “Matt” and Nettie Hazel Mattingly. Jeff is a 1960 graduate of St. Mary’s Ryken High School. He attended St. Mary’s College for two years and transferred to the University of Maryland. He enlisted into the United States Army in August 1966 and proudly served his country in Germany until his honorable discharge as a Sergeant in August 1969. After his discharge he returned to the University of Maryland and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Education in 1970. On June 16, 1973 Jeff married his beloved wife, Debra M. Mattingly, in Bethesda, MD. Together they celebrated over 45 wonderful years of marriage. He returned to the University of Maryland and earned his Master’s degree in 1975. Randy was born on January 24, 1960 to the late Richard and Doris Webb of Highlands, NC. Randy enjoyed spending time with family; Bass fishing, Nascar, Pittsburgh Steelers, corn hole and coaching softball. He was a self-employed carpenter. In addition to his parents, Randy was predeceased by his brothers, David, William and James Webb. Randy is survived by his loving wife, Penny Annette Webb; son, Randy Mark Webb, Jr.; daughter, Arlene Dean; brothers, Freddie and Johnny Webb, and sister June Henry. Jacob Ray Uptain (Jake), 62, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on July 23rd, 2018 in California, Maryland. A Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 17th, 2018 at a to be announced location. Jake Uptain was born on November 21st, 1955 in Miami, Arizona to Raymond and Maxine Uptain. He married Leslie Latscha on June 2nd, 1984. He worked as a head sawman in a cabinet shop for many years before he retired and took on the role of stay at home father. He was a loving son, brother, husband and father. He was the rock of his children’s home who supported them and guided them. Before he settled down and got married he enjoyed taking road trips across the country on his motorcycle, and even spent a couple of years living off of the back of his motorcycle. He enjoyed a good glass of sweet tea, going shooting, fishing and hunting. His greatest joy was playing with his grandchildren. He was a craftsman at heart and loved woodworking and leatherwork. Born on October 2, 1967 in Cheverly, Maryland, he was the son of Helen Ella Reick and the late William Harvey Spangler. Wayne was Co-Owner of MRW Lawns of La Plata and was very active in supporting community projects. He loved the beach, cars and playing golf. It is with great sadness that the family of Brian Jerome Moore announce his passing on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at the age of 57. Born February 13, 1961 in Washington, DC. Brian grew up in Laurel, MD and moved to Lusby, MD in 2002. He graduated from Meade High School in 1980 and thereafter graduated from RETS Technical School in Baltimore, MD. He worked as an HVAC technician for over 30 years and was a member of Steamfitters Local 602. He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Kathleen Moore. He will be lovingly remembered by his siblings, Tom (Lorraine), Susan (Randy) Keen, Joanne (Chuck) Neppach, and John (Carrie). Brian will also be forever remembered by his nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church, 1861 Harbor Drive, Chester, MD on August 27, 2018, at 11 AM. Edith Lorraine Bowen, 89 of Prince Frederick, MD died August 11, 2018 in the presence of family. She was born September 21, 1928 in Broomes Island, MD to Thomas George Parks and Annie Rebecca Denton. They lived in Broomes Island where she was raised to have a strong belief and worship in God and rejoice in songs of faith. She left school at an early age to work in her Aunt Lorena Denton’s store making pies for sale. She met her husband, Leroy Hilton Bowen, Jr., while working at Goldstein’s Department store in Prince Frederick. They were married in 1946, and built a home and raised their five children on Stoakley Farm. She was a deeply loving and devoted Farmer’s wife, mother, neighbor and friend of many. She enjoyed cooking and took much joy in bringing family and friends together around the table for a meal and conversation. She took much pride in maintaining the busy farm house in pristine condition and spent many hours canning and gardening.
