On Sunday, May 31, 2015, Charlotte Spalding Frere, wife of Charles R. Frere, Sr. of Bel Alton, MD, passed away after a brief illness. Born on November 9, 1925, in Drayden, MD, she was the daughter of the late Charles Harry Spalding and the late Mary Violet Tippett Spalding. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Mary Catherine Rice, Margaret Shymansky, Christine Hough, and Helen Reynolds; brothers, Henry Spalding, John C. Spalding and Thomas Spalding; and son-in-law, William A. Toombs, DDS. In addition to her husband she is survived by her children, Charles R. Frere, Jr. (Diane), Mary Kaye Frere Toombs, Joseph Larry Frere, Thomas Keith Frere (Tae), and Pamela A. Frere; her sister, Mary L. Wise; six grandchildren; five great-granddaughters; and a number of in-laws, nieces and nephews. Charlotte graduated from Glasva High School, and was proud of the track and field medals she received there. Upon graduation she worked for the FBI as a fingerprint specialist. She later worked for and retired from the Charles County School System having worked in several elementary schools.
