James Russell (Russ) Armiger, 90, of Naylor passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2016, surrounded by his family at home. Russell was born June 6, 1925 in Anne Arundel County, MD, son of the late James M and Leila W. Armiger. He was a Sergeant in the United States Army and a Paratrooper assigned to the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions during World War II. He was the owner of a small construction company and built many homes throughout Southern Maryland. He also worked on construction of the DC Metro transit system. He was a charter member and past Chief of the Brandywine Fire Department. He enjoyed gardening, trap shooting, shooting pool, eating crabs, watching his grandsons play baseball and being with family. Russell’s passions in life were his wife of 59 years, Ida, who preceded him in death (2007), family and friends. He is survived by his children, Gloria Trotter (Gary) of Greenville, SC; Phyllis Pruett (Dave) of Virginia Beach, VA; Rita McCumber (Gene) of Naylor, MD; Rusty Armiger (Karen) of Brandywine, MD; Susan Harmon (Mike) of Centreville, MD and Sandie Rice (David) of Brandywine, MD.
