Donna Sue Ryan Jones, 70 of Mechanicsville, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2015 at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown, MD. She was daughter of the late Charles Edwards Ryan and the late Suzanne Francis Gaunt. Donna was born in Washington, DC on April 9, 1945. Donna enjoyed the computer, crafts and talking with friends. Donna is survived by her loving husband, Roy Eugene Jones; sister, Mary Elizabeth Cheri; niece, Deborah Lynn Cheri and nephew, Robert Michael Cheri. Family will receive friends for Donna’s visitation on Friday, December 11, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. Alice Costello Turner, 94 of Lusby, MD passed away on December 6, 2015. Alice was the middle of nine children. She was born in Washington, DC to James F. Costello and Josephine Keller Costello on January 13, 1921. Her siblings: Richard, Mary Finnin, Margaret Angers, Rita Prime, Vincent, and Bernadette Houchins are deceased. She was the devoted wife of the late Elbert (Red) Turner, and beloved mother of James (Nancy), Katherine Buffaloe ( William), Robert (Lynn), Thomas ( Julie) and John ( Marie). She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren as well as her sister, Dolores Cunningham and brother, James Costello, Jr. Red and Alice were married in Washington in 1940, raised their family of five in Hyattsville, MD, and later retired to Lusby, MD where Red practiced law. Alice was active in the community and both were devout Catholics. Family will receive friends from 5 – 8 PM on Friday, December 11, 2015 at the Rausch Funeral Home, 20 American Lane, Lusby, MD 20657. Martina Victoria Bussler Aud, 88 of Hollywood, Maryland passed away on December 8, 2015 in Leonardtown, MD. She was born on July 8, 1927 in Callaway, MD to the late Mary Evans Bussler Dement and Martin Bussler. Her father died before she was born. Her step-father was the late Alfred Dement. Martina was the loving wife of James (Jeff) Aud, Jr., whom she married on January 31, 1948 at the Holy Face Rectory in Great Mills, Maryland. Together they celebrated 67 wonderful years of marriage. Martina graduated from Great Mills High School in 1944. She worked at the Naval Air Station, Patuxent River until the birth of her first child in 1949. After that, she became a full time homemaker. Martina enjoyed gardening and was a great cook. She loved country music and dancing. She was always happy to join in on a card game of pitch or poker with family and friends. After her husband Jeff retired, they enjoyed travelling across the United States in their campers and RVs. Patricia Nardone Osborne, 63 of Hollywood, MD died December 7, 2015 at the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center, La Plata, MD. She was born August 26, 1952 in Baltimore, MD to Grace “Pat” Torrence Nardone and the late Flavio Nardone. Patricia graduated in 1970 from Towson High School. She attended Western Maryland College and graduated in 1974. She later attended Catholic University of America in Washington, DC where she earned her Master’s Degree in 2012. Patricia worked for the State of Maryland at the Department of Social Services for St. Mary’s, Calvert, and Charles Counties for 25 years. She was a member of Hollywood United Methodist church for the last 27 years. Patricia enjoyed traveling; being a Navy wife allowed her to travel around the world. She loved to sing and was an avid Ravens and Orioles fan, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her children, Cheryl L. Miriam Anne (Monsour) Donnellon, beloved mother and grandmother passed away on December 8, 2015 at the age of 91. Miriam was born on April 14, 1924 in the Sand Hills of Valentine, NE the third of four children to James and Minnie Monsour. After losing both parents in a tragic railroad accident at the age of 11, Miriam along with her two brothers and sister moved to Lincoln, NE to be raised by her mother’s sisters, Sadie and Josephine Ferris. After graduating from Cathedral High School, Miriam and her aunts moved to New York where she attended the College of New Rochelle, the first Catholic women’s college in New York. Upon graduation in 1945, she was hired as a reporter for the New Rochelle Standard-Star where one of her assignments was to interview local servicemen returning from the war overseas. One of her interviewees was Sargent Jack Donnellon whom she married in November, 1945. While raising her two children in New York, Miriam learned to drive and was active in the League of Woman Voters and the Ladies Guild of the Parish of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Charles Russell “Chuck” Barton, 86 of Lusby, MD passed away on December 7, 2015 at his residence. Born June 6, 1929 in Houston, TX, he was the son of the late William Barton and Ethel (King) Cook. Chuck married his wife Margaret on June 22, 1957. He served in the United States Marines for twenty one years, retiring in 1968. Chuck also worked as a Field Engineer for Sycon Consultants. He loved sailing and building his home in Lusby. He loved his wife and family, who meant so much to him. Chuck is survived by his wife, Margaret; his children, Diana Newman of Upper Marlboro, MD, Paul Barton of Lusby, MD and Beverly Fitzgerald of Berwyn Heights, MD; grandchildren, Jonathan, Shannon, Bucky, Kyle and Jeremy; and his siblings Billie Serio of Houston, TX and Joyce Brown of Ft. She passed peacefully surrounded by her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was daughter of Frank Thomas and Sadie Rawlings. MaryAnn was born in Cheverly, MD on December 2, 1954. MaryAnn enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, crafts, flower arrangements, unicorns, and playing the slots. MaryAnn was predeceased by her sister, Brenda and grandmother Mary Agnes Rawlings. Linda Marie Higgs, 52 of Leonardtown, MD passed away on December 10, 2015 in Callaway, MD. Born June 1, 1963 in Olney, MD, she was the daughter of Alma Jean and Guy Stanley Ewell of Hollywood, MD. Linda was the loving wife of Timothy David Higgs, Sr., whom she married on August 3, 1991 in Hollywood United Methodist Church. Linda is survived by her son Timothy Higgs, Jr., siblings; Brian Ewell of Centerville, VA, Richard Ewell, Christian Ewell and Dona Ewell all of Dunnellon, FL and Bonita Wright of Watts, OK. Linda moved to St. Mary’s County from Anne Arundel County in 1977, she graduated from Leonardtown High School in 1982. Linda was employed with McKay’s for 17 plus years retiring in 2011. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 14, 2015 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. Dolores Liniville Darr, 87 of Mechanicsville, MD passed away December 9, 2015 at Calvert Memorial Hospital, Prince Frederick, MD surrounded by her loved ones. Born October 9, 1928 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of Raymond Greene and Evelyn Balinger. Dolores was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, being with family and friends, shopping, cooking, playing games with her grandchildren and crocheting baby blankets for her great- grandchildren. In earlier years she worked at the Library of Congress. She was an active member of the Hughesville Baptist Church and participated in many Church functions. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Clarence Darr; children, Evelyn Thames (Jeff) of Waldorf, MD, Cindy McDonald of Seaside, OR, Steven Darr (Donna) of Middletown, MD and Gail Beavers (Jimmy) of Mechanicsville, MD; brother-in-law, Tom Darr and sisters-in-law, Ruth Ward and Lois Goode. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild and many other relatives and friends. Joseph “Joe” Leonard Russell, 83, of Mechanicsville, MD died on December 11, 2015 at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital, Leonardtown, MD. He was born on August 23, 1932, in Leonardtown, MD to the late Edward James Russell and Mary Emily Vallandingham Russell. Joe was born and raised on a farm in Clements, MD. He appreciated the hard work involved in caring for a farm and made sure his sons learned the same appreciation by teaching them how to harvest tobacco when they were youngsters. On November 9, 1957, he married the love of his life, his beloved wife, Dolores Sinkovich Russell in Minersville, Pennsylvania. Together, they celebrated over 58 wonderful years of marriage–their love was like no other and an inspiration to their children and grandchildren. He was employed by the Coca-a-Cola Company as a plant foreman until his retirement. Every year, he grew a beautiful flower garden with a variety of flowers for his wife as well as a vegetable garden in which he always shared his produce with family, neighbors, and friends. A. Marie Wood, 99, of St. Mary’s City, MD died on December 11, 2015 at Solomons Nursing Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 4, 1916 in Callaway, MD to the late James Robert Dement and Elizabeth Combs Dement.   Marie was born and raised in St. Mary’s County. She lived for over 70 years in St. Mary’s City. She was married for over 65 wonderful years to Charles Dolie Wood, Jr., before his passing in August 2001. She was a dedicated mother and wife, and supported her family helping on the tobacco farm and taking care of the family home. She was an excellent cook, baker, and seamstress. She raised beautiful flower gardens. Marie volunteered for many years in the school cafeteria at St. Michael’s School. She knew every child’s name. Larry Allen Rosson, 64, of Owings, MD passed away on December 12, 2015 at the Hospice of The Chesapeake in Harwood, MD. Larry was born on March 2, 1951 in Charlottesville, VA. He was the son of the late Thomas Lee Buckler and the late Beatrice Irene Bowyer Buckler. Larry worked as a Dairy/Deli Clerk for Giant Food until his retirement. He enjoyed deer hunting, the Redskins, Nascar and reading. He graduated from La Plata High School. Vivian Yorkshire Bonds, 64 of Ft. Washington, MD (formerly of Harpers Corner Road, Mechanicsville, MD), departed this life on December 16, 2015 at Fort Washington Rehabilitation Center in Fort Washington, MD after a long battle with breast cancer. She fought like a champion! She was born on October 16, 1951 in Oraville, MD to the late James and Mary Agnes Yorkshire. Vivian grew up in Mechanicsville, MD and graduated from Chopticon High School. After high school, Vivian moved to the Washington, DC metropolitan area and went on to work for the FBI and thereafter finished her career by retiring from the United States Postal Service in 2006, after 32 years of service. On June 2, 1973, Vivian married her loving husband, James Bernard Bonds. They shared 42 years of devoted love. Through their union, they were blessed with their only child, Shavone Nicole Murphy. Vivian, affectionately known as “Viv”, by her family and friends, had a smile that would light up the world. She loved helping others and being anywhere and everywhere to show her support. James Anthony “Jimmy” Gray, Sr., 71, of Mechanicsville, MD died on December 12, 2015 at Hospice House of St. Mary’s. He was born on January 3, 1944 in Chaptico, MD to the late Frederick Carroll Gray and Mary Elizabeth Anderson. Jimmy graduated from Margaret Brent High School in 1962. He retired from St. Mary’s County Government as an Inventory Specialist. Jimmy is survived by his children, Jim Gray (Jenny); Kevin Gray (Shelly) both of Mechanicsville, MD; his grandchildren, Jacob, Lindsey, Haley, and Kyle Gray; his siblings, Thomas Gray (Pat); William Gray (Joyce); Charles Gray (Wilma); Rosalie Carpenter; David Gray (Mary); Ralph Gray, Sr. (Pee Wee), and his loving fiancé, Peggy Berry and the rest of the Berry Family, which includes four children, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
