Robert Edward “Bob” Braddock, Sr., 73 of Hollywood, MD died on November 30, 2015 at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C., after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 7, 1942, in Trenton, NJ to the late Everett G. Braddock and Edna Helene Ball Braddock. In 1961 Bob proudly enlisted in the United States Navy which brought him to St. Mary’s county where he served his country until his honorable discharge in 1965. On June 13, 1981, he married his beloved wife, Delia S. “Dee” Braddock. Together, they celebrated over 34 wonderful years of marriage. He was employed over 33 years with Burch Oil Company until his retirement in 2008 as their store Maintenance Director. After retirement he continued to work for them one day a week. As a life member for 41 years, Bob dedicated himself to the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department; he served as a president and held various board positions. He took great pride and joy in overseeing the Bay District Social Hall. He always ensured every detail was thoroughly planned and that every event was perfect. Jean Marie Williams Turner, 95, formerly of Memphis, TN, died on November 25, 2015, at Sagepoint Senior Living. She was the widow of Homer D. Turner, Jr. Mrs. Turner was a native Memphian, where she was a former member and frequent officer of many societies, to include: Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, National Society Magna Charta Dames, Plantagenet Society, Colonial Order of the Crown, Dames of the Court of Honor United States, Daughters of 1812, Sons and Daughters of the Pilgrims, Daughters of American Colonists, and Descendants of Early Settlers. A member of several Genealogical Societies (Tennessee, Virginia, West Tennessee), and the Tennessee Historical Society, she also served as past president of the Parent Teacher Association and past City Council President of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Carolyn Ann Schott, 66 of LaPlata, MD passed away at home on November 29, 2015. Carolyn was born on September 9, 1949 in Washington, DC to the late Clayton Eckard and Mary Eckard. She is also preceded in death by her sister, Rita Lincoln. Carolyn is survived by her loving husband, James Schott; daughter, Christina (Peter) Calomeris; son, William Adams; sisters, Joyce Honderich, Mary (Melvin) Parker and Glenda (Clifford) Winkler; and grandchildren, Alyssa Adams, Mary Adams, Erin Calomeris and Lauren Calomeris. Janet Ann Lyons, 68 of Mechanicsville, MD, passed away on November 30, 2015 at her residence in Mechanicsville, MD. Jan was born April 23, 1947 in Frederick, MD. She was the daughter of John Michael Burke and Ruth Marie (Allnutt) Burke. Jan was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Maryland School Food Service Association. She graduated from Richard Montgomery High School in 1965, and got married in 1966. Jan worked for the Charles County Public Schools as a Food Service Manager. She moved to St. Mary’s County in 1975. She retired from Charles County Public Schools in 2008. Jan loved camping at the beach with her granddaughter Erin, her furry friend Molly, and family. She also loved volunteering at her granddaughter’s school, St. Mary’s Bryantown. Frances “Marie” (Burnley) Barton “Nana”, a long-time resident of LaPlata, MD, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center. Marie was born on November 30, 1944 in Charlottesville, VA. She was a graduate of Lackey High School Class of ’62. She retired in 1985 from Pargas, Inc., after 23 years of service as a Commercial Keypunch Clerk. Marie had a heart of gold and was always willing to help anyone in need. She enjoyed reading, traveling with friends and family, spending time with her grandchildren and being Nana to everyone’s children. Richard “Ricky” Lee Elliott, of Broomes Island , Maryland was only 56 years old when he died from his battle with cancer on December 2, 2015 in Prince Frederick, Maryland. Although Ricky’s passing is profoundly heartbreaking, we take comfort that he is now with his father Edward, sister Brenda Durnbaugh and brothers Anthony and Robert. Ricky is survived by mother Anne Marie Parks Elliott, his brothers Ed, Dwight, Stevie, his son Richard “Bunk” Elliott, daughter-in-law Annette, and granddaughter Jayme. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and many special friends. Ricky worked as an Auto Body Technician and has provided countless favors to us all. Known to us as a “Jack of all Trades,” Ricky was always there to help us with our cars, boats, jet skis, and lawnmowers. He loved all things sports, particularly spending time at the track with his son. Ann Trossbach, 77 passed away at her residence in Dameron, Maryland on Monday, November 30, 2015. Ann was born in Savannah, Georgia on September 26, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Dow and Alma Seago Love. Her family moved to the Southern Maryland area in the late 1940s with the growth of the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. She met and married Joe Trossbach who was the love of her life. They made their home on Trossbach Road in Dameron. Her husband Joe predeceased her in January 29, 1986. Ann was a Postal Worker for 25 years before retiring in 1993 as Post Master at Ridge Post Office. She also served as Post Master at Tall Timbers Post Office and a part time Postal Clerk at Dameron Post Office. After her retirement she worked seasonally as a Tax Preparer at Jackson Hewitt in Lexington Park. She was a Parishioner of St. Michael’s Church in Ridge, Maryland and a member of the Ladies of Charity. She was a loving mother to Jo Ann Trossbach, Sherry Trossbach and Kenny Trossbach (Marianne). Born on October 10, 1946, he was the son of the late Margaret Brawley, and William Fones. Kirk was the loving husband of Mary A. Fones, whom he married on July 17, 1965 in St. John’s Catholic Church, Hollywood, MD. Kirk is survived by his children: Michelle (Ricky) Kohut, of Waldorf, MD, Karen (Stevie) Mistretta, Maggie (Greg) Redman both of Hollywood, MD, 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Siblings; Jug (Mary) Brawley of Tulsa, OK, Nancy (Dan) Ford, and Dorothy (Danny) Vallandingham both of Hollywood, MD. He was preceded in death by his brother Steven Fones. Kirk graduated from Leonardtown High School in 1964; he was a lifelong St. Mary’s County, MD resident, and he was a waterman. Kirk lost his courageous battle with cancer, his granddaughters Taylor and Sarah were their Pops primary caregiver for his last days. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed his weekly card games with the boys. He worked with his hands building birdhouses, and playhouses for his grandchildren. Michael Paul Owens, 54 of Brandywine, MD, passed away suddenly on December 1, 2015. Born October 21, 1961 in Washington DC, son of John E. Owens and Diane B. Owens of Franklin, West Virginia. Michael grew up in Forestville, MD and later Temple Hills, MD. His first love was motorcycles and he began riding at a young age. When Michael was 16, his parents bought his first motorcycle, a 1977 Triumph Bonneville 750, for doing well in school. Later he purchased his first Harley, a 1976 Harley Davidson Sportster from his cousins Bill and Debbie Hickey. His passion for riding only grew from there! Nothing made him happier than riding his motorcycles and there are countless, cherished memories riding with his wife Julie, and side by side with his father, brothers, cousins and many special friends. Bernard L. Baxter, 83 of Lexington Park, MD died on December 4, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 28, 1932 in Central City, KY to the late John F. Baxter and Lorene Garst. Bernard proudly enlisted in the United States Navy on October 19, 1951 and dedicated over 20 years of service before his retirement on November 20, 1971 as an Aviation Machinist’s Mate Chief Petty Officer. During his service he served in many countries, including Iceland, Holland, New Zealand and Germany. He earned the National Defense Service Ribbon, Navy Occupation Service Medal, Korean Medal and United Nations Service Medal. She was born on October 14, 1924, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Joseph and Louise Budiseh Jablonicky. Charlotte lived a long, productive life as a wife and mother. While raising eight children, at times on her own while her husband was sea duty. She also was a long time member of the Chief Wives Club, volunteered for the Red Cross, a member of the Red Hat Society, a seamstress, volunteered for Bay District Seniors, and even was a substitute mail carrier for a time. She long enjoyed playing cards with friends every week. Charlotte had an active, inquiring mind and continued to learn new things until the end.
