Joseph O. Knoefel, 75 of California, MD died Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at his residence. Born June 16, 1940 in Louisville, KY, he was the son of Louis Knoefel and Martha Stengler. Joe Attended Florida State University, where he earned his BS in Electronic Engineering in 1971. His career brought him to NESEA, St. Inigoes, MD as a Project Engineer in the communications and tactical systems division. By 1996, soon after Mr. Knoefel’s proposal to design, integrate, and test radio communication system (RCS) for the new AEGIS ships was accepted, the systems Integration and Test Division was formed. In1990 Mr. Knoefel became the head of the newly formed Systems Integration Directorate. The directorate’s major programs include designing and integrating communication systems to meet the requirements of ships, special warfare groups, and joint allied endeavors; designing, testing, integrating, and delivering RCSs for AEGIS ships; assisting the navy and other DOD components regarding automatic data processing security and computer networking systems; and developing the Joint Universal Data Interpreter to provide joint service interoperability. In 1992 Mr. Knoefel transferred to NISE East, Charleston South Carolina, Where he was the Security System Department head and retired in 1994 from Civil Service. James Edwin “Jimmy” Nelson, Jr., 84 of Leonardtown, MD passed away on November 19, 2015 at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown, MD. He was born on June 17, 1931 in Leonardtown, MD to the late James Edwin and Marie Frances Adams Nelson. Jimmy is a 1949 graduate of Margaret Brent High School. On October 19, 1957, he married his beloved wife, Margaret Marie Long. Together they celebrated over 58 wonderful years of marriage. He was a talented and dedicated career carpenter. However, his greatest pride and joy came from working on his family farm, especially tending to the Black Angus cattle. He was an avid baseball and softball player for the Rocking Chair League. He also enjoyed fishing, crabbing and camping. In addition to his beloved wife, Jimmy is also survived by his children, Thomas Dale Nelson, Sr. (Mary) of Leonardtown, MD, Cynthia Faye Howard (Jr.) of Mechanicsville, MD; Ronald Neil Nelson of Leonardtown, MD, and Margie Lynne Nelson of Leonardtown, MD; eight grandchildren (Dale, Brandy, Jessica, Stephanie, Tammie, Amber, Kristina and Eddie); seven great-grandchildren (Hailee, Owen, Alex, Kelsee, Connor, Kamber and Raylan); and many extended family and friends. Charles Irvin Latham, 69 of Clements, MD passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on November 19, 2015. Irvin was born on April 27, 1946 in Chaptico, MD. He was the son of James Leonard Latham and Maude Elizabeth (Russell) Latham. Irvin graduated from Margaret Brent High School in 1964 and was employed shortly thereafter by Merkle Press in Washington, DC where he met his wife, Sarah, and where he retired as supervisor. Irvin possessed a quiet, outward personality, but he had an infectious and easy laugh for those who knew him. His hobby was to attend car auctions and to repair and detail the cars for resale. He could always be relied upon to give a helping hand to family and friends. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by Sarah Quesenberry Latham, his loving wife of 42 years, and daughters, Sharon Norris (Nick) of Hollywood, and Barbara Pritchard (Roger) of Clements, MD: two grandchildren, Nicholas Norris and Roger Pritchard; his siblings, brothers: James Latham and Eugene Latham of Chaptico. William Earnshaw “Doc” Blandford, 75 of Hughesville, MD passed away November 19, 2015 in La Plata, MD. Born February 12, 1940 in Washington DC, he was the son of the late Thomas Ray Blandford, Sr. and Ellen Earnshaw Blandford. Doc was a dedicated educator for thirty years in the Prince George’s County Public School System. He taught civics at Crossland High School and earlier taught at Roger B Taney Middle School. He also worked as a meat cutter at Giant and B.K. Miller and at Publix in Florida. Doc was an animal lover and always had pet dogs and cats, many of which he had rescued. One of his true passions was soccer; he played soccer throughout his life and coached the game as well. He played in high school, at Mount St Mary’s and later with the Washington DC Internationals. In the early 1970’s he founded a girls’ soccer team which evolved into the Camp Springs Women’s Soccer Club. Michael George Glasgow, 51 of Round Rock, TX died on November 19, 2015 in Hollywood, MD, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 2, 1964 in Columbus, OH to George Edward Glasgow of Hendersonville, TN and the late Claire Regina Laliberte Glasgow. Michael is a 1987 graduate of Virginia Tech with Bachelor of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He was dedicated a Software Engineer for The Advisory Board. He was a world traveler, an avid cyclist and enjoyed running marathons. He was also very handy and enjoyed working on projects. However, his greatest love was for his daughter, with whom he enjoyed spending as much time as possible. Gopal Lilaram Chandiramani, 88 Of Washington, DC, died Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Georgetown University Hospital. Born, February 17, 1927 in Sukkur, Sind, India, he was the son of the late Lilaram Isardas Chandiramani and Nindhibai Advani Chandiramani. In 1947, Mr. Chandiramani and his family were forced to leave Sind and settle in Bombay, as a result of Partition. While in America, Mr. Chandiramani became a United States citizen. He arrived in the United States on September 13, 1955. He attended Indiana State Teachers College, in Pennsylvania and American University in Washington, DC, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Prior to leaving India he earned a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in Political Science and History in Bombay. He worked at the Embassy of India for thirty-seven years. In retirement, he worked at Little Caledonia, Washington, DC and Maven Engineering Corporation, Rockville, MD. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by seven siblings. Lorena Jett Denton. Bonnie is also preceded in death by her sisters Mary Louise Humphreys, Betty Ann Shea and Patricia Freeland. Beloved mother of Donald Edward Zindorf and his wife Amy, Grandmother of Ryan, Eric, Bailey, Brandon, and Emily Zindorf and great grandmother of Flynn Zindorf. Ruth “Ruthie” Elizabeth (Alvey) Chedester passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown, MD on 25 November 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on 5 July 1955 to John Aloysius Alvey, Sr. and Ruth Elizabeth (Curry) Alvey. Ruthie graduated from Chopticon High School in 1972. She is survived by her beloved husband Tommy Ray Chedester whom she married on 12 May 1990. They just celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary. Ruthie is also survived by her siblings John A. Alvey, Jr. and his wife Maxine of Port Tobacco, MD, Lorraine M. Alderman of Hollywood, MD and James “Jimmy” Alvey and his companion Elaine Macmillan of Myrtle Beach, SC. She was the very loving and supporting Aunt to Debbie and Michelle Alvey, Sharon Alderman Johnson and William “Billy” Alderman and his wife Alice, Shawn Alvey, Jade Alvey and the late Tonya Garner. Shirley Jean Garner, 77 of Mechanicsville, MD passed away November 27, 2015 in Leonardtown, MD.Born February 19, 1938 in Winston Salem, NC she was the daughter of the late James Eli Tullock and Bessie Mae O’Dell. Shirley had two brothers Charles Dean Tullock and the late Eugene Tullock and three sisters; Lois Overby, Betty Sheets, and the late Mary Shoe. On April 3, 1954 she married her husband Robah Ellis Garner, Jr. Shirley was a devoted mother to her three children Theresa Ann Gilbert, Brenda K. Kerper and Jerry Eugene Garner Tullock. She also worked as a waitress at Marriott Hot Shoppes for 46 years. Predeceased by her parents and siblings, Eugene Tullock and Mary Shoe. Shirley is survived by her husband Robah Ellis Garner Jr.; daughters Theresa Ann Gilbert and Brenda K. Frank William Baines, 30 of Lusby, MD passed away suddenly at his home on November 26, 2015. He was born on August 23, 1985 in Norfolk, VA to Frank Baines and Darshell Glee-Baines. Most of Frank’s years were spent in Maryland, where he played baseball. Frank was well known for his skills as a catcher for his travel team, parks and recreational team, and for his school team, Chopticon Braves. Frank won many baseball awards and trophies; the most important being a scholarship to Delaware Tech. Frank graduated from Delaware Tech and earned associates in business; where he applied his skills to work in retail. Frank was also known for his personality. He always had a big smile and a pocket full of jokes. He was very outgoing and made friends easily. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family and building things with his father. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy, and stepchildren, Scott Smith and Lynnette Greenhut (FL) and her children Hannah (IN) and Jarrett (FL). Ed is also survived by his loving ex-daughter-in-law, Nancy Robeson (CA) and her son Tim (CA). Ed left behind his “Furry Feline Children”, Saigon, Feather, Ming, Ko, Flip Flop, Marshmellow, Magic, Montana, Cherokee, Sassy, Patty, Guinness, Bandee and Meo. Ed is also survived by his children, Robby (NC), Chris (AZ), and Patsy (PA) and their children. Ed was predeceased by his father, William Robeson and his mother, Genevieve Neelen Robeson Bollenbach and his stepfather, Fred Bollenbach. Born June 3, 1934, and raised in McKees Rocks, PA, Ed joined the U.S. Navy after high school (1950) and spent the next 25 years serving his country. Joelle is a 2015 graduate of Leonardtown High School, graduating one year early. She was a past member of the cheerleading squad and the marching band, in which she played the clarinet. She was attending the College of Southern Maryland, inspired to become a nurse. Joelle was known for her infectious smile, tenacious attitude, and love for others. She was protective of others and did not stand by and let anyone be taken advantage of. Joelle was a great friend to many. She enjoyed baking, eating out at Salsa’s, taking selfie’s and being on social media. She was a fan of amusement parks and going to Myrtle Point beach. Doris Jean Buckler, 81 of Mechanicsville, MD died on November 24, 2015 at Hospice House of St. Mary’s in Callaway, MD, surrounded by her loving family. Born June 2, 1934, in Orville, MD she was the daughter of the late George Posey and Mildred Thompson Posey. Doris was a lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County. On June 19, 1954, she married her beloved husband, Howard Allen Buckler at St. Paul’s Church in Leonardtown, MD. Together they celebrated 59 wonderful years together before his passing in October 2013. She spent many years working as a waitress and bartender at Earl’s Steakhouse, Black Steer, Jim’s Las Vegas, and the Halfway House. She also helped her husband on the tobacco farm and was a devoted mother and wife. She was also the family caretaker and took care of many of her family members and friends. She enjoyed karaoke and dancing. She was the family historian and remembered many events with accuracy and detail. However, her greatest pride and joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. Florence Gertrude Buckler, 82 of Chaptico, MD died on November 28, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born October 11, 1933, in Mitchellville, MD she was the daughter of the late Ollie Joseph Walker and Marie King. Florence was born and raised on a farm, then married her beloved husband, Joseph I. Buckler, Sr., and continued to live and work on a farm. They celebrated 50 wonderful years together before his passing in October 2001. She was a loving wife and devoted mother. She was an excellent cook and prepared many delicious hot meals for her family on a daily basis. Her Sunday dinners were something the whole family looked forward to. She also tended to beautiful flower gardens and all household renovations. There was not a project she couldn’t tackle, from electrical work to removing interior walls, she could do it. She was a talented seamstress and made many of her children’s clothes. She also enjoyed cross stitch and crossword puzzles. Maryalice Huffman, 92, died peacefully in her home at Asbury~Solomons from complications of pancreatic cancer on November 29, 2015. She was born August 10, 1923 to Charles and Edith (Pearce) Flinner in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania. She relocated with her family to Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. in 1936, graduated from Eastern High School in 1941 and attended Strayer College until she had to withdraw after the sudden death of her father. She worked at Liberty Bank, owned by the United Mine Workers, and then for the War Production Board until her marriage on June 6, 1945 to Laurin Carl Huffman at Reformation Lutheran Church on East Capitol Street on Capitol Hill where she was a member. Mrs. Huffman moved to Fairfax, Virginia in 1949 and then to McLean in 1959 where she resided before moving to Asbury~Solomons Island, Solomons, Maryland in 1998. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Falls Church, Virginia and Middleham + St. Peter’s Episcopal Parish in Solomons. She was a Democratic Election Judge in the Providence and Dranesville Districts in Fairfax County for over 40 years.
