Mrs. Joan Eleanore Isakson Manning, 86, of Great Mills, MD, passed away on January 21, 2017 at St. Mary’s Hospital. Born on April 21, 1930 in Duluth, MN, she was the daughter of the late Paul John Isakson and Phyllis (Bartz) Isakson. Joan worked for the U.S. Navy Personnel Department for thirty two years, retiring with honorary Chief Warrant Officer status due to exemplary service. Joan is survived by her husband of sixty one years, Howard E. Manning of Great Mills, MD; her children, Paul E. Manning (Diana), Rebecca M. Lowe (David), Glenn H. Manning (Mary Ellen), Eric K. Manning, and Karin Apelman (Johan); grandchildren, Kathryn, Travis, Kelly, Lesa, Mira, Leah, Glenn, Jamie, Jacob, and Sarah; and great-grandchildren, Gabriella, Alexis and Brawley. Joan will always be deeply loved and missed as a testimony to her devotion to her family and church. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Southern Calvert Baptist Church, 12140 H.G. Trueman Road, Lusby, MD 20657.

Linda L. Davis, 67, of Lusby, MD passed away on January 23, 2017 at Calvert Memorial Hospital. Born April 3, 1949 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Allen Williamson and Frankie (Fields) Williamson. Linda is survived by her sisters, Patricia Willard of Richmond, VA and Brenda Marcey of Selbyville, DE; and niece, Lisa and her family. Linda was preceded in death by her best friend and husband Charlie in 2003. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at Ft. Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Road, Brentwood, MD 20722.

George Lee Allison, 81, of Lusby, MD, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 26, 2017, at the Burnett Calvert Hospice House in Prince Frederick, MD. George was born on August 17, 1935 in Washington, DC, the youngest and second son of the late Harry and Sophronia Allison. He grew up in Brentwood, Maryland during the war years in the house that his father had built. Like his dad, he was good at woodworking and became a carpenter’s apprentice at the age of 17. He was a master cabinet maker by the age of 28. Brentwood was his home until moving his family to Calvert County in 1969. Once settled in Calvert County, he continued to work as a union carpenter, making the long commute to DC until starting his own successful construction business in the early the 1980’s. He retired in 1995 at the age of 60. In his younger years, George enjoyed fishing, biking, running, rowing and boating. He especially loved to teach newbies how to water ski. Harry Elmer Hickey, 87 of Lusby, MD, and formerly Silver Spring, MD, passed away on January 29, 2017. Born September 3, 1930 in Fredonia, NY, he was the son of the late Harry B. Hickey and Geraldine (Joles) Hickey. Harry graduated from Fredonia High School in Fredonia, NY and received his PhD from American University. He was a Professor at the University of Maryland College Park for twenty seven years, retiring in 1988. Harry married his wife Gloria on May 12, 1988 at Berwyn Presbyterian Church in Berwyn Heights, MD. Harry is survived by his wife Gloria Hickey; his children, Linda Crawford, Kelly Alridge, David Hickey, Kathleen Spencer, Carole Waesche and Diane Cowell; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Harry was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Owen. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 90 Church Street, Prince Frederick, MD 20678. Born August 13, 1966 in Oaklawn, IL, she was the daughter of the late William Thomas Kibby and Rosemary Veronica (Podmolik) Kibby. Veronica was a realtor for Century 21 New Millenium for twenty years. She enjoyed the beach, boating, photography, real estate, traveling and spending time with her family. Veronica is survived by her husband, Nathaniel H. Kolterjahn whom she married in Rockport, MA on May 27, 1995; her children, Maegan (Kevin), Jacob, and Adam (Samantha); grandchildren, Charley and Marcus; and her siblings, Bill, Marianne, Denis, Terry, Greg and Janice. Linda Lee Kelley, 74, of Owings, MD passed away February 1, 2017 at her residence. She was born October 9, 1942 in Washington DC to William L. and Shirley R. (Hann) Sistek. She attended Prince George’s County schools, graduating from Suitland High School in 1960. Linda was an award winning majorette in high school, and practiced her twirling most of her life when she could. After graduation, Linda worked at the Navy Yard, Government Printing Office and the Departments of Agriculture and Interior, retiring in 1990. Following retirement from federal service, Linda served as the President of the Dunkirk Area Concerned Citizens Association (DACCA) and was one of the founders of the abused persons shelter in Prince Frederick, Safe Harbor, Inc. Linda was elected to four consecutive terms as a County Commissioner in 1994, 1998, 2002 and 2006. Following her successful career as a Commissioner, Linda continued to serve on the Board of Directors of Safe Harbor, Inc. and served as the Calvert representative to The Tri-County Animal Shelter. Connie was the loving wife of the late James Frederick Woodburn who preceded her in death in 1961, and the late Lloyd (Bubba) Copsey who preceded him in death on March 9, 2007 and whom she married in St. John’s Catholic Church on September 10, 1965. Connie is survived by her children: Franny Woodburn (Judy) of Mechanicsville, MD, Lorraine Armsworthy (Johnny) of California, MD, 7 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren. Siblings: James Hoover Jones, Leona Virginia Stone, and Author Leroy Jones. Sandra “Sandy” Marie Conner of Calabash, NC, formerly of Waldorf, MD, passed away on Friday February 3rd, 2017, surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her parents Archie and Fleta Conner and her brother Dane Conner. She is survived by her loving husband John Reese Jr; children Dina Marie Caddeo (Frank) and John Reese III (Megan); sister Sharon Humphrey; grandchildren Nicolas Caddeo, Noelle Caddeo, Noah Caddeo, Conner Reese and James Reese; as well as many nieces, nephews and other family members. The family will receive visitors at Huntt Funeral Home in Waldorf, MD on Tuesday Feb. 7th from 6pm-8pm. Funeral services will be Wednesday February 8th at 1pm at Huntt Funeral Home followed by burial at Trinity Memorial Gardens. Theresa Eva Post died peacefully on February 3, 2017 at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC at the age of 76. She was born in Fairmont, WV on August 3, 1940 to John and Eva Campione. Theresa is survived by her husband, James; loving children, Kevin and his wife Robin; Kathy and her husband David Jackson; Chris and his wife Jackie (all from Mechanicsville, MD); five grandchildren, Randy (Jackson) and his wife Laura, Sarah, Joshua, Matthew and Hannah (Post); two great-grandchildren, Chad and Emma (Jackson); and her sister, Sister Carmella Campione of Wheeling, WV. Theresa’s grandkids called her Noni. She adored being with them and always had candy for them when they visited her. Betty Jean Hodges, 88, of Prince Frederick, Maryland passed away on February 5, 2017 in Prince Frederick, Maryland. She was born on December 9, 1928 in Waverly West Virginia to the late Orvil E. and Helen J. Johnson. Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Ted Rosnage, her loving life partner of 30 years, Sal Puleo, daughter Theresa Dorsey (Butch), Great granddaughter, Jenna Rosnage, and a sister Ruth Elder. She was known by everyone of any age as “Nonnie”, Betty thrived on her special relationships with her many friends, or “Gal Pals” as she would call them, either from her church, or Chaplain Place where she resided for the last 12 years. She was very active with St. John Vianney Catholic Church and loved her Saturday evening masses and dinner with friends and Pastor Daly after Mass. Rose Ann Latham, 52, of Chaptico, MD passed away peacefully on February 4, 2017 after a long courageous fight with MSA. She was born on November 19, 1964 in Leonardtown, MD to Martin Eugene “Gene” Latham and Peggy Joan Copsey. Rose was a 1982 graduate of Chopticon High School. She went to work for First National Bank of St. Mary’s. She earned her Bachelor’s degree while working at the Bank. She stayed thru all the bank takeovers including PNC. Then she went to work for Cedar Point Federal Credit Union as a commercial loan officer. Sadly, she was forced into an early retirement due to her illness. Rose was a loving person who helped many people. She has a great love of animals, and witty sense of humor. She loved her children and enjoyed taking them to the beach. Mary Isabelle Chaney, 94, of Hollywood, MD passed away on February 5, 2017 at her home with her loving daughter at her side. She was born April 2, 1922 in Charlestown, WV to the late Joseph Baker and Ida Elizabeth Locke McCauley. On October 12, 1941, she married her beloved husband, James G. Chaney. She celebrated over 57 wonderful years of marriage before his death in August 1988. She was employed for 19 years at the Naval Research Lab as a dedicated secretary in Washington, D.C. She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Leonardtown, MD, St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church in Hollywood, MD, and Catholic Daughters She is survived by her daughter, Pamela M. Gerald E. Johnson of Millsboro, DE died at his residence on February 6, 2017, two days before his 78th birthday surrounded by family and his beloved wife of 59 years Frances Johnson. Gerald “Jerry” was born on February 8, 1939 in Washington D.C. to the late James C. Johnson and the late Eileen M. Brown-Speorl. Jerry worked for 45 years as a printer, retiring from the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington D.C. in 2005. Jerry had a strong catholic faith and loved his family very much. Jerry’s hobbies included fishing, boating, gardening, and repairing anything needed to be fixed. Jerry especially enjoyed growing gardenia bushes and giving the gardenia flowers to many people. Jerry also enjoyed eating crabs, drinking beer, and being at the beach with his family. Some of Jerry’s favorite sayings were, “hanging in there”, “doing the best I can”, and “I’m bad.” Gerald was predeceased by his brother Raymond A. Johnson (Nancy) of Delaware. Born on February 16, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Alphonsus Mills Nelson and Ella Thompson Nelson. Margaret worked as a Nursing Assistant prior to becoming a homemaker. She enjoyed working in the yard, especially raking leaves; crabbing, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, playing cards, travelling, especially her trip to Niagra Falls and hanging out at the pool.
