Thelma Jean Crine, of Mechanicsville, Maryland, passed away November 16, 2017, at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown, Maryland, with her loving husband at her side. She was born December 15, 1950, in Morgantown, West Virginia to the late Clayde B. Rogers and Thelma Marie Cottrell. Jean was not only a stay at home mother, but she also worked as a beautician and a sale rep. She spent many years caring for others to include the four legged kind. Her other hobbies included gardening, sewing and crafts, baking and cooking. She was also a volunteer with the St. Mary’s County Humane Society. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and was very close to all those around her. John was in the Army, stationed at Fort Hood, Texas – “I walked into Big Daddy’s Restaurant in Kileen, Texas and it only took one look and she was mine. I was blessed with 49 years of marriage to my best friend” John Crine. Kevin Adam Howell went to our Lord Jesus Christ on November 13, 2017. He passed away in his home among loved ones. He was born February 21, 1984 in Clinton, Maryland to James Edward Howell, Jr. and Linda Marie Howell. Kevin Adam Howell was a loving father, a grateful son, a giving husband and loyal friend to all. Kevin would give all of himself to you if you needed him. We will love him and keep his memory alive by telling his children and those in his family and friends of his greatness, kindness, selflessness and love. Joseph Francis Long, “J.F.” 70 of Leonardtown, MD passed away at his home on November 18, 2017. Born on December 17, 1946, he was the son of the late Mary Susan Hall Long, and Joseph Albert Long, III. Joseph was the loving husband of Linda Thompson Long, whom he married on July 12, 1969 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Morganza, MD. Joseph is survived by his children; Shelley Long DeLucco (Jason) of Leonardtown, MD, Scott Long (Chandi) of Ocean Pines, MD, 4 grandchildren; Jack DeLucco, Sawyer DeLucco, Adam DeLucco, and Max Long. Siblings; John Robert Long, James Henry Long, Susan Elaine Copsey, Thomas Richard Long, and Mary Elizabeth Long. He leaves many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his son David Michael Long and his sister Barbara Jean Long. He was a lifelong St. Mary’s County, MD resident and graduate of Margaret Brent High School in 1964. Shirley Ann Tayac, age 78 of Port Tobacco, Maryland, died November 19, 2017. Shirley loved to play Bingo, going to the Casino, organizing things, and socializing. Her family was her main concern, especially children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was the daughter of Leroy Harris and Juanita Harris. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her siblings, Polly, Barbara Jean, and Richard. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, William A. Tayac; her son, William; her daughter, Lenora Dodge (Richard); her brothers, Joe Harris, Bobby Harris, John (Butchy), and Bernard (Bunny); her grandchildren, Ashleigh Schofield (Andrew), Phillip Tayac, Kimberly Dodge, and Naiche Tayac; and her great-grandchildren, Hailey and Ryan Schofield, Callan and Zaniya Tayac, and Deliciana Tayac. Glenn “Gus” Algire Waltersdorff Jr., 66, died Monday, November 20, 2017, suddenly at Home. He leaves life partner; Cathy Waltersdorff, Son; Glenn Waltersdorff III, Daughters; Erin Petrillo, (Chris), Jamea Peterson, (Ryan), Christin Waltersdorff, and five Grandchildren; Marty, Dominic, Ryan Jr., Bryce, and Allie. Born and raised in Hanover, PA only son of the late Glenn Sr. and Virginia Leatrice Waltersdorff. In his early years, Gus developed his love and talent for baseball. Living in Maryland, star Centerfielder for Suitland High school. Class of 1969. Attending Towson University, earned bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. 1980, started and owned Waldorf Marble Inc. Marrying Cathy in 1981. Having four children and being an extremely loving family man, he excelled in coaching softball. He helped lead Thomas Stone H.S. with his daughters to two state championships. Gus avidly volunteered in the community. Active board member of TSHS athletic boosters. His company was enjoyed by many at the ball field, bowling alley, and Legion. Visitation will be at Raymond Funeral Service, P.A. 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646 on Friday, November 24th from 4pm to 6pm, with a service at 6pm. Interment will be private.

Frances Margaret Sherbert, 101, passed away November 19, 2017 at Solomons Nursing Center. She was born December 6, 1915 in Smithville, now part of Dunkirk, MD to Joseph William and Gertrude May (Chaney) Armiger. Frances was raised on the family farm in Smithville and attended the former Smithville School. She married Joseph William Sherbert and they made their home in Dunkirk. Frances was a homemaker and also helped on the family farm, raising corn and tobacco. She was also a caregiver for her mother for many years and caregiver for other members of the community. Frances was a member of Smithville United Methodist Church and enjoyed traveling, cooking, sewing, gardening and spending time with family and friends. Frances was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Sherbert and a sister Hazel Swann. She is survived by her daughter Margaret Ann Cox and her husband Oliver of Prince Frederick; grandchildren Patricia Ann Walter and husband Mark, Joseph Oliver Cox and wife Lisa and Gail Marie Gott and husband Jimmy, all of Prince Frederick; great-grandchildren Joshua Walter, Julie Hall and Jared and Adam Gott; and great-great-granddaughter Averie Walter. Mary Ellen Noel, 47, of LaPlata, MD passed away on November 18, 2017 at the University of MD Charles Regional Medical Center. Born in Buffalo, NY on December 8, 1969 to the late Allan Streit and the late Rosalyn Streit, she is also predeceased by her step-mother, JoAnn Peterson-Streit and step-brother, Jeffrey Peterson. Mary is survived by her husband, Mark Noel and brother, Patrick Streit (Sonya); step-sister, Jennifer Van Slyke; step-brother, Jonathan Peterson and many nieces and nephews. Mary attended Frontier High School and received her bachelor’s degree at SUNY at Fredonia College and later her master’s degree. She married Mark in 2000 at St. Ignatius Chapel Point Catholic Church. Mary was an Elementary School teacher in Charles County for 13 years and later worked at Chutes International. She enjoyed volunteering with the foster program for cats and she loved the beach. Audrey Clairine Rusmisel Stanton passed away peacefully Monday, November 20th surrounded by her loving family. Audrey was born September 14, 1935 in Washington, DC to the late William R. Rusmisel and Mautie Mola (Kincaid) Rusmisel. Audrey’s greatest joy was being surrounded by and spending time with her family and friends, especially recently loving on her great-granddaughters Caroline and Elizabeth. Audrey was a member of Al-Anon for over 40 years. This was a source of pride and accomplishment. She led many meetings in the eastern region as well as being a guest speaker throughout the country for Al-Anon and AA functions. She met many wonderful lifelong friends through her work with Al-Anon. Elizabeth “Betty” V. Klock of St. Leonard, MD, formerly of Forestville MD, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2017, at the age of 83. Betty was born on May 24, 1934, in Washington, DC, to Bertha Kasulke and Peter E. Nielsen. Betty was a loving wife, mother and friend, who always put everyone else first. She was a retired Budget Analyst for the Federal Government “GSA” division. Her hobbies included knitting, “Bingo”, crocheting, “Bingo”, craft jewelry making, “Bingo”, ceramics, but most of all “BINGO”. She enjoyed her time spent with family and all her lunch and dinner dates with her friends. Betty lived a full life with the usual ups and downs but always did the best with what she had at the time. On Sunday, November 19, 2017, George Leo Dyson, Jr., gained his wings and joined his parents in heaven. George, the only child of the late George Leo Dyson, Sr. and Agnes Loretta (Chase) Dyson, was born on January 10, 1976, in Leonardtown, MD. George, a lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County, Maryland, was a faithful member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Morganza, MD. Here is where you would find him every Sunday praying for family and friends; a place where he found peace and joy. George was educated in the St. Mary’s County School system, graduating from Chopticon High School in 1995. He continued his education at Lincoln Tech graduating in 1996 with a certificate in HVAC. After working numerous jobs, in 1998 he landed his dream job at Washington Gas & Light as a Service Technician. He remained in this position until November 2005 when he was promoted to Construction Technician. Delores Fay DeHart, 76, of Colonial Beach, Virginia passed away on November 20, 2017 in Colonial Beach, Virginia. Delores was born on November 22, 1940 to Ernest Guy McClanahan, and Zora Belle Estep. She was a Pre-Pack Produce Worker for Safeway until her retirement in 1974 after 20 years of service. Delores enjoyed crafting, making floral arrangements and buying jewelry. Delores is survived by her sons, Alfred DeHart (Deborah) and Ricky DeHart (Tonya). Also surviving are her brothers, Douglas McClanahan and David McClanahan, her sister, Phillis Mercilliott, 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents, her son, Steven DeHart, her daughter, Tammy F. Cox, her brothers, Ernest McClanahan, Jr., Maxen McClanahan and Charles McClanahan and her sister, Evelyn Windsor. Michael Steven Rye, Sr. “Big Mike”, 54 of Leonardtown, MD passed away at his home in Leonardtown, MD on November 20, 2017. Michael was born in Cheverly, MD on May 23, 1963 to the late Donald Calvert Rye and Carolyn Bond Rye. He graduated from Gwynn Park High School in 1981. Michael was a football and baseball coach at Chopticon High School over the years and coached many other teams for his boys. He enjoyed playing baseball in his younger days, hunting, fishing, crabbing, golfing, family activities and get-together with friends. He was in the U.S. Army. When he got out he worked in the field for Montgomery Kone’ Elevator and eventually worked for management. He made a move to work for Schindler Elevator for several years and went to work again for Kone’ a few years ago. On November 23, 1988 he and Lori were married. They were together a total of 39 years, more than half their lives. His biggest love in life was his wife and boys. Paul Eugene “Pop’s” Stauffer, Jr., 81, of Valley Lee, MD passed away November 20, 2017 at Hospice House of St. Mary’s surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 19, 1936 in Port Trevorton, PA to the late Paul Eugene Stauffer, Sr. and Olive Kerlin. In November, 1976, Pop’s married his beloved wife, Catherine Teresa Stauffer at the Hollywood Nazarene Church. Together they celebrated over 41 wonderful years of marriage. He was a lifelong dedicated farmer, raising hogs, soybean, wheat and corn. He was dedicated to his family and enjoyed family dinners and get-togethers. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed fixing his cars and tractors. Kip Edward Pears Sr, 65, of Hollywood, MD, died November 21, 2017 in the comfort of his home surrounded by family and friends. Kip was born on June 15, 1952 in Hermitage, PA, the son of Carl and Jean Pears. He graduated from Mercer High School and attended Penn State University earning a degree in Electronic Engineering. He also received a Masters in Systems Management from The University of Southern California. He worked on numerous DOD contracting projects to assist in America’s future of defensive operations. Kip, in his earlier years, took great joy in aviation and was a certified recreation pilot as well as a scuba diver. His biggest passion was always playing golf on any course he could find and even used golf course locations to navigate. Kip Pears was preceded in death by his father Carl Pears. Ronald John (Jay) Barickman 47, of St. Inigoes MD passed away suddenly November 21, 2017 at his residence. He was born October 16th, 1970 in Leonardtown MD to Margaret (Peggy) Barickman. He was a graduate of St. Michael’s Elementary School in Ridge MD, (1984) and St. Mary’s Ryken (1988). In addition to his mother, Jay is survived by his siblings; Robert Joseph Barickman of Lexington Park, Ryan Jeffrey Barickman of Lexington Park, and Julie Marie Simmons (Robert) of St. Inigoes. He is also survived by his nephew Robert Dean and nieces Haley Barickman, Catherine (Cabby) Barickman, Addyson Simmons, and Mary (Ginny) Simmons and many extended family and friends. Joyce B. Wood, 75, of Hughesville, MD passed away on November 23, 2017 in Waldorf, MD. Joyce was born in Washington, DC on January 1, 1942 to the late Alfred Joseph Pratt and the late Bernice Mary Licarion. Joyce was a homemaker, coached girls softball, was a member of Mechanicsville Moose Lodge and Catholic Daughters, and a parishioner and volunteer at St. Mary’s Bryantown Catholic Church. She loved playing cards, playing penny slots, gardening, birdwatching and most of all, spending time with her family. Bobby Ray Logan, 85, of Waldorf, MD passed away on November 22, 2017. Bobby was born on January 31, 1932 to the late Claude Franklin Logan and the late Lois Comer in High Point, NC. Bobby was a Flight Engineer for the U.S. Air Force. He worked as a Realtor and became an Associate Broker during his 47 year career. He loved spending time with his family, golf, Myrtle Beach and his 2 dogs Molly and Bootsie. In addition to his parents, Bobby was predeceased by his brother, Darrell Logan. Bobby is survived by his loving wife, Betty Sue of 67 years; children, Bobby and Lorraine Logan, Jr., David and Wendy Logan, Cynthia and Ed Stone and nine grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Family will receive friends for Bobby’s Life Celebration Visitation on Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 11:00am to 12:30pm with a Funeral Service at 12:30pm at Brinsfield Funeral Home, 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. Dr. Forouzandeh Allahverdizadeh, 83

Forouzandeh Allahverdizadeh, 83, of California, MD passed away November 27, 2017 at Solomon’s Nursing Center. She was born on January 7, 1934 in Iran to the late Hussain and Zahra Allahverdizadeh. In 1960, Dr. Allahverdizadeh earned her medical degree from Mashad University in Mashad, Iran. In 1974, she came to the United States to pursue an advanced education and training in psychiatry. She earned her Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship from Duke University in Durham, NC. She went on to work many years as a practicing Psychiatrist in North Carolina and Ohio until her retirement in the 1997. She retired in St. Mary’s County to be near her extended family. She is a member of the American Bahai Community and served in the local spiritual assembly of the Bahai’s of St. Mary’s. Dr. Allahverdizah is survived by her sisters: Monir, Rizan and Farideh; and many extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, and three sisters. A Graveside service will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD. Condolences to the family may be made at www.brinsfieldfuneral.com. Lillian Jeannette Urquidez, 72, of Hollywood, MD passed away November 29, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 31, 1945 in Aiken, S.C. to the Gerald and Mary Pearl Hallman. On November 18, 1964, Lillian married her beloved husband, Jesse Urquidez in Georgia. Together they celebrated over 53 wonderful years of marriage. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. She supported her husband throughout his military career and his civil service career. She enjoyed travelling during his service in the Navy, but especially loved the six years they lived in Hawaii. As a family they enjoyed taking camping trips to Kitty Hawk, Avon, Cape Hatteras and Solomons Island. She was a beautiful dancer and delicious cook. Family was her greatest love and she enjoyed spending her time with them, especially her grandchildren. Kyle Anthony Stevens, age 25 of Waldorf, Maryland, died November 20, 2017 at his residence. Kyle was an auto mechanic at various auto shops for seven plus years. He enjoyed drag racing, motorcycles, and anything that dealt with cars. He loved being outdoors, especially riding bicycles and playing with his son. He was the son of Jason Anthony Stevens and Jennifer Moore Hunt and his step-father, Mark Hunt. He is also survived by his son, Kaleb A. Stevens; his brother, Andrew Stevens; his sister, Kayla McLaurin (Warren); paternal grandparent, Kaye Stevens; his maternal grandparents, Carolyn and Skip Moore; his step-paternal grandparents, Martin and Frances Hunt; his great-grandmother, Hazel Moore; and his nephew, Zachary. Friends received on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM at Raymond Funeral Service Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646 and where Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 12:30PM, officiated by Reverend Dr. Mark Roberson. Interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3221 Mattawoman-Beantown Road, Waldorf, Maryland 20601.
