Harvey Edward Parker, age 77, of Toledo passed away at home on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 29, 1944, in Toledo, OH to Harvey and Alexina (Mariea) Parker. Harvey attended Erie Mason High School in Erie, MI and was a proud Veteran of the US Army. He was employed as a sales representative for Corrigan Propane, Rhino Propane, and Reliance Propane for over 23 years, retiring in 2018. Harvey enjoyed fishing and hunting, and he could fix just about anything. He loved riding his Harley-Davidson and was a past director of the American Legion Riders of Conn-Weissenberger Post 587. Harvey is survived by his significant other and love of his life, Barbara Saam; daughters, Bobbie (Christopher) Gerity and Rebecca Anaya; sons, John (Kristy) Parker and Joseph (Elizabeth) Parker; Stepdaughter, Jaime (Scott) Dewey; sisters, Marlene (Ronald) DeCosse, Charlene Thomas, Mary Jo (Norman) Robinson, and Michele Miller; grandchildren, Stephen (Brittny) Ferris, Michael (Heather) Wilkins Jr., Brittany (Christopher) Caracciolo, Ashlie Parker, Jerrica Anaya, Travis (Julia) Parker, Gregory Harris, Lindsay Bodi, Addison Miller, and Stanley Miller III; and 11 great-grandchildren. Debra Ann Pruitt, also known to her family as Debbie Lou, formerly of Lusby passed away peacefully in her sleep at Solomons Nursing Center in Solomons on February 23rd, at the age of 69. She was born on July 16, 1952, in Leonardtown to the late Ella Mae (Bridgett) Kernozek and Kenneth Pruitt. In 2003 when her mother remarried, she became the stepdaughter of William Kernozek of Lusby with whom she resided for 10 years until she became a resident of the Solomons Nursing Center in 2013. She graduated Thomas Stone high school in 1973 and worked at a department store in Leonardtown prior to her debilitating illness. She enjoyed babysitting for her family and was a very kind and caring person. She loved to be with her family and enjoyed taking photos of any family event. She was an avid Elvis fan and enjoyed collecting Disney memorabilia. She loved entering arts and crafts in the Calvert County fair and was proud of any ribbon received. Richard “Dick” Furman Hutson, Jr.,83, of Avenue, MD formerly from Lanham, MD passed away on February 23, 2022, in Washington, DC. He was born on September 22, 1938, in Washington, DC and was the son of the late May Plass Hutson and Richard Furman Hutson. Dick was the loving husband of Nancy Jeanne Hutson whom he married in 1965 in Riverdale, MD. Dick is survived by his two sons Richard Michael Hutson (Sharyn), and Richard Furman Hutson, Jr both of Avenue, MD, three grandchildren, Jennah Latham (Frankie), Jared Hutson, and Julie Hutson, and two Great-Grandchildren, Easten and Lexie Latham. He is also survived by his siblings Mary Petrone of Lanham, MD, June Duvall of Brevard, NC, and Nicki Hutson of Manchester, England, and Lyndia Hutson of Manchester, England. He graduated from Bladensburg H.S. in 1956. Dick served in the United States Army from November 1, 1963, to November 6, 1967. He moved to St. Mary’s County, MD in 1966. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Life Member, Past Fire Chief, Past President Charles “Danny” Davis Jr. Chief Davis passed away today with family by his side after a long and heroic battle with cancer. Chief Davis is a Legend in Hollywood VFD and the State of Maryland within the Fire Service. Chief Davis joined Hollywood VFD in 1970 and quickly started gaining knowledge of the Fire Service by taking numerous classes. Chief Davis rose up through the ranks of the Department quickly, becoming Captain in 1974. He was appointed to Assistant Chief in 1984 then Fire Chief of the Department in 1985 and 1986. Through his Fire Department lifetime, Chief Davis also held operational positions of Safety Officer, Assistant Engineer, and Training Officer. Chief Davis was voted in as President of the Department in 1992 and held that position for 3 years. He held the position of Secretary and was on the Board of Directors for numerous years. The Nanjemoy Volunteer Fire Department regrets to announce that Walter M. Golden, Nanjemoy Volunteer and former County Fire Chief passed away on Tuesday March 8, 2022. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard C. Golden, his sisters, Mildred G. Marshall and Mamie Katherine Rowens. He is survived by his sister, Barbara G. Lyon of Winchester, VA, his nephew, Gary K. Lyon, Jr. of Winchester, VA, his niece, Cynthia Lyon of Manteo, NC, three great nieces and a great, great nephew and niece. Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the Nanjemoy Baptist Church and Cemetery in Nanjemoy, Md. with grave site burial immediately following. Charles Henry (Chuck) Beitzell, 73

Charles Henry (Chuck) Beitzell, 73, of Bushwood, MD, passed away peacefully from Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma on February 24, 2022 at home with his loving family by his side. Born on August 4, 1948 in Leonardtown, MD, he was the son of the late George Lee Beitzell and Frances Martha (Battenfield) Beitzell. He was the oldest of four children. Chuck was in the generation of change; although only 7 at the time, he remembered Hurricane Hazel where the family barns were leveled. Incomes for many moved from farming the land to harvesting shellfish on the Potomac and its tributaries. The Naval Base expansions and technology explosions changed the character and opportunities of the county. Chuck graduated from Holy Angels Catholic School and was in the inaugural graduating class from Chopticon in 1966. As a young adult he helped on the family farm raising tobacco and he also worked on the family boat oystering and clamming. When he was 16, he would drive his father’s refrigerated truck to the Eastern Shore after school with the daily catch of soft shell clams. It was a great adventure for a 16 year old. Mary Estella Dodd Evans, 93, passed away on March 10, 2022. Mary was born in Maryland Point, Charles County, MD. on November 27, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Lazarus Dodd and Mary Frances Dodd and sister to Emma Scott and Britannia Bastin. Mary was predeceased by her husband Albert Merl Evans, Sr., her son Ronald Gary Evans, and her best friend Wanda Denton. She is survived by her son Albert Merl Evans, Jr. (Susan). Her nieces Frances Hathaway (Ray) and Patricia Blackburn (Billy) and her two granddaughters, Jessica Dean (Dave) and Amy Lundgren (Wayne). She also had four great-grandchildren. Mary worked in Washington, DC for several years before moving to St. Mary County and working at Patuxent River Naval Air Center for 33 years. She was active in NARFE for many years following her retirement. All burial services will be private. He was born on September 26, 1985 to Dale Stephen Herbert, Sr. and Donna M. McAllister Herbert. Richard is a lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County. He married his beloved wife, Jeannie on February 22, 2022. He owned his own Lawn Maintenance business doing lawn care. He enjoyed hunting, crabbing and fishing. Richard loved spending time with his family, whom he was very close with. Christian Scott Wirth, 18, of Lexington Park, MD, passed away suddenly at Penn State Altoona on March 4, 2022, in Altoona, PA. He was born on March 27, 2003, in Leonardtown, MD, to Christopher Scott Wirth and Karen Lisa Gay Wirth of Lexington Park, MD. Christian is a graduate of Father Andrew White and a 2021 graduate of St. Mary’s Ryken. He was in his first year at Penn State Altoona. He was an avid fan of football, particularly the New York Jets, and auto racing, IMSA and NASCAR. He played football with the Leonardtown Wildcats and rugby with the Pax River RFC. At Ryken he played on the school football team for a couple years, ran track, and spent his junior and senior year on the sailing team, where he lettered. He wrote for Penn State Altoona Collegiate Review. Every year he looked forward to the family trip to Lime Rock Park, CT, to watch sports car racing. He also enjoyed going to amusement parks, especially Hershey Park. Dean Lynn Gilroy, 61, of Benedict, MD, passed away March 26, 2022. Dean was born on February 19, 1961 to Jerry and Dottie Summers in Leonardtown, MD. Dean Lynn grew up in the small water front town of Benedict, MD. Dean Lynn along with her siblings bonded with fellow Benedict friends that turned into family. The “Benedict Crew” could be found selling crabs at Shorter’s, swimming in the Patuxent River, spending time at the Pier, or always having fun times together. Benedict was home. After graduation, she landed her first job as an account clerk for National Capital Bank, in Washington DC. Shortly after she began her insurance career at Blackmond Insurance in Hughesville which developed into a 38-year long career with Edward L. Sanders Insurance Agency in La Plata, MD. Dean Lynn is fondly described as the most dedicated, hardworking, and selfless employee that has ever walked through the doors of Sanders. Thomas “Tommy” Howard Miller Jr., 39, of Hubert, NC passed away at his home March 18, 2022. He was born August 15, 1982 to Thomas Howard Miller Sr. and Peggy Sue Stinnett. Thomas was originally from Maryland where he married his beloved wife, Kristi Lee Miller on March 25, 2011.  He was a self employed trim carpenter.  He enjoyed fishing, music, eating crabs, watching movies, the Redskins, and playing games on his phone.  Thomas loved spending time with his family with whom he was very close to. Charles Alfred “Allie” Burch, Sr., 82, of Lexington Park, MD passed away peacefully on March 19, 2022 at  home with his loving family at his side. He was born on December 18, 1939 in Leonardtown, MD to the late Howard Burch and Mildred Marie Thompson Burch. Charles worked as a carpenter and a waterman for most of his life until he became disabled and unable to work. Many of his friends and family called him by his nickname “Allie”. He loved to listen to the Baltimore Orioles games and Nascar on his radio.  He enjoyed spending time with his family especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. William J Campbell, 93, of Gaithersburg, MD, passed away on March 18, 2022. William was born on October 28, 1928 to Jack and Elizabeth Campbell in Cleveland, OH. After graduating from high school, he pursued a higher education while in the service.  He earned an undergraduate degree from Maryland, and eventually completed a law degree from LaSalle University. After high school graduation, he began his career as a military policeman or MP for the US Army, kicking off 27 years of military service.  Rising to the rank of sergeant major and honorably completing his military years as a consultant for a National Guard unit. He served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars earning many accolades including a bronze star. Earlier in his military career, while stationed in Japan, he met his wife Keiko Takahashi, and they wed soon after.  The two of them went on to have five children and raised them in many different parts of the world before settling down in Maryland. Teddy Colin Green, age 62,  passed away on March 2, 2022 at his residence. He was born on August 7, 1959 in Waynesville, NC to Sydney Greene and Sarah Katherine Ammons Greene of Waynesville, NC. Teddy served in the U.S. Navy from 1979 to 1981. After his honorable discharge, he returned  to Haywood county and began a lengthy career as a phone technician and cable splicer for several telephone companies.  He worked for Verizon as a Switch Technician for a further 17 years before retiring in November 2015. In addition to his parents he is survived by his siblings, Timothy Clifford Greene of Deale, MD, Michael Kevin Greene of Waynesville, NC, and Elsa Ellen Greene of Waynesville, NC and his nieces and nephew, Paige Greene, Jennifer Greene, and Joshua Greene. Teddy will be long remembered as a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. Immediate services are private. A military funeral will occur at a later date to be determined. James Albert Butler was born on May 19th, 1931, in Woodbine, New Jersey to Frank J. Butler and Jennie Tamminen. Jim (as he was known to friends and family) passed away in his home in Hollywood, Maryland on the morning of March 17th, 2022. He was 90 years old. Jim received his high school education in New Jersey and was known to be quite the troublemaker by his teachers and the staff. Once he graduated, he held a few odd jobs before joining the United States Navy. Jim was in the Navy from 1951 to 1954 where he served in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged after 3 ½ years of service. After leaving the Navy, Jim became an owner/operator and salesman at Tastykake Inc. in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he worked for over 40 years. Jim met the love of his life, Harriet Clare Lukens (Clare) in 1961 and they were married in Philadelphia, PA on September 14th, 1963. They went on to have three children: Judith, Tracy, and Steven. Albert Wayne Combs, 51, of Dameron, MD passed away peacefully at his home on March 11, 2022 with his loving wife, Michele, by his side. He was born on November 21, 1970, in Leonardtown, MD, to Shirley Ann Brown of Hollywood, MD, and the late Raymond “Buddy” Combs, Sr. Wayne was born and raised in St. Mary’s County.  He was a 1988 graduate of Leonardtown High School. He was a Master Electrician and employed for many dedicated years with Dominion Energy. Wayne also owned and operated Patuxent River Oysters, LLC, famous for its sweet and salty oysters, popular locally and out-of-state. Being on or near the water was his happy place. On October 19, 2019, he married his beloved wife, Michele Lee Combs, at their home overlooking the Chesapeake Bay. Wayne enjoyed listening to music and supporting local groups by attending concerts. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan. He took great pride in growing bountiful container vegetable gardens and tending to his herbs. Francis Raymond “Ray” Currie, Sr., 64 passed away at his home in Bushwood, MD on March 23, 2022 Ray was born on December 15, 1957 to Margaret Ann Dean of Lexington Park, MD and the late Francis Jessie Currie. Ray was a lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County, MD. He married the love of his life Barbara Jean Currie on March 10, 1978 in Leonardtown, MD. They spent 44 wonderful years together. He and Barbara were blessed to raise two children together. Ray enjoyed spending time with his family and friends especially his grandchildren, Evan and Ava. He worked for Weis Grocery Store as a Butcher for over 30 years. He loved to coach Little League Baseball and girls softball, and also loved to play softball for Capt’n Sam’s. Eva Maria Harris of Mechanicsville, MD passed away unexpectedly on March 18th, 2022. Eva was born on May 24, 1962 to Claus Dieter and Erika Maischhofer in Pforzheim, Germany. She attended Nordstadtschule and Schanzschule in Pforzheim, Germany.  She completed her education as a licensed hair stylist. Melvin “Mel” Harris and Eva began their 41 year union in 1981. They were married for nearly 39 years, resulting in an abundance of family and friends. She is survived by her husband Melvin, her daughters Julia Harris of Chesapeake Beach MD, Juanita Harris of Windsor, CO, and Jennifer Harris of Great Mills, MD. She also leaves behind three grandchildren Roman, Emersyn, and Mila Foote. In Germany, she is survived by her father Claus Dieter, older sister Monika Maischhofer of Arnbach DE, younger sister Susanne Fries of Niefern, DE and her nieces and nephew Laura, Nicolai, and Emily Fries. Eva was known for her love of animals and nature. She loved horseback riding, training dogs, and caring for her many pets at home. Her garden was a flourishing work of art every summer. After a courageous, year long battle with cancer, James “Kevin” Lorence, 56, of St. Inigoes, MD passed away on March 28, 2022 with his loving family at his side. He was born on March 27, 1966 in Leonardtown, MD to James Melvin Lorence and Frances Marie “Dumplin” Abell Lorence of St. Inigoes, MD. Kevin is a lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County, and a 1984 graduate of Great Mills High School. The majority of his career was spent working as a landscaper for Mitchell Landscaping, and later as a meticulous groundskeeper at Brinsfield Funeral Home.  Kevin aspired to own his own landscaping company, and most recently started a small landscaping side business.  In 1986, Kevin proudly joined the Ridge Volunteer Fire Department. He has served 35 dedicated years and was recently appointed honorary Lieutenant.
