Harry Richard Errington, 91, of California, MD, passed away on March 4, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 15, 1930 in Skipback, PA, he was the son of the late Anna Leamy Errington and Robert W. Errington. Harry was the loving husband of Gwendolyn Charlotte Errington, whom he married in Litchfield Park, AZ. Harry is survived by his children Douglas Craig Errington of Naples, FL, Jeffrey Lane Errington of Leonardtown, MD, Robyn Lynn Strayer of Leonardtown, MD, his brother Arthur Errington of Bonita Springs, FL, and 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Harry graduated from Schwenksville High School in 1948. He served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1974, retiring after 23 years in 1974. While serving in the United States Navy, he was in the Vietnam War, Korean War, and earned the Bronze Star with combat V, Combat Action Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Good Conduct Meal (third), Occupation Service Medal (Europe), National Defense Service Medal (2nd), Vietnam Service Medal with 3 stars, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. James Gilbert Stone, Sr., “Jimmy”, 84, of Leonardtown, MD, passed away on March 5, 2022 in Leonardtown, MD. Born on August 20, 1937 in Medley’s Neck, MD, he was the son of the late Mary Mildred Johnson and the late Joseph Vernon Stone. Jimmy was the loving husband of Dorothy Cecelia Hall Stone, whom he married on October 25, 1958. He is survived by his children Gail Stone (Dan Orwig) of Loveville, MD, Jimmy Stone, Jr. (Rolanda Stone) of Loveville, MD, and Joyce Stone of Leonardtown, MD, his siblings Jean Nelson of Leonardtown, MD, Linda Oliver of Mechanicsville, MD, and Charles Stone of Leonardtown, MD, his grandchildren Amber Stone Premore and Justin G. Stone, as well as his great grandchildren Anthony James Premore and Emelynn Rose Stone. Jimmy was preceded in death by his siblings John F. Stone, Jack Stone, Shirley Forsythe, Doris Bean, and Barbara Logan. Jimmy was a QA Inspector for Patuxent River and Naval Research Lab, retiring in 2001. Mary Elizabeth “Butsy” Hanks of Lexington Park, Maryland died at the age of 73 on Sunday, March 6, 2022, while under the care Hospice of St. Mary’s. She was born on September 23, 1948, in Washington, DC and was the daughter of the late Mary Jane (Rawlings) Nicholson and William Landon “Pappy” Nicholson. Ms. Hanks is survived by her daughter, Misty Michelle Hanks of Washington, PA, her son, Woodrow Wilson Hanks III of Church Hill, TN, and granddaughter Alexis McKenzie Hanks. She is also survived by her brother Jack Nicholson of Glendive, MT; her sisters Linda Gragg-Bolick of Waldorf, MD, Nancy Badeaux of Lockport, LA, and Andrea Nicholson of Capitol Heights, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, and their children. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Brenda Nicholson. Also surviving is her significant other Rudy Kramer of Lexington Park, MD and her daughter’s fiancé M. She was born on April 11, 1943, in Leonardtown, Maryland and was the daughter of the late Susan Alberta Ellis Bowles and John Ignatius Bowles, Sr. Mary was the loving wife of the late Robert “Bob” James Barone, whom she married in August of 1981 in Ventura, California and who preceded her in death in July of 1991. Born on December 28, 1931, in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late James Cox Harris and Amanda Victoria Cline Harris Heeter. She married Frank Starr Gatton in Holy Name Church, in Washington, DC on January 28, 1950. They were married for 60 years. She attended Notre Dame Academy in Washington, DC. She was a daycare provider for over 30 years, foster mother, CCD teacher, and den mother. Margaret was a member of Catholic Daughters, and St. Vincent de Paul. She loved to travel, read, and play scrabble. Along with playing pitch, and canasta with family and friends. Her greatest joy in life was her family and friends. Born on January 19, 1963 in Leonardtown, MD, he was the son of the late James Roy Morgan Sr. and the late Margaret L (Quade) Morgan. Glenn is survived by his siblings Roy Morgan Jr. of Clearwater FL., Dennis Morgan (Sandy), Jean Nelson (Donnie), Steve Morgan (Cindy) of Mechanicsville MD., Gail White (Roger) of Abell MD., Kathy Guy of Leonardtown MD., and Kevin Morgan (Lisa Wyant Valley) of Chaptico MD. Born on February 8, 1936 in St. Mary’s City, MD, she was the daughter of the late Mattie Mason and the late George Robinson Swailes. Mary was the loving wife of Joseph S. Statesman, whom she married on July 30, 1966 in Valley Lee, MD. She is survived by her daughter Mary Jo Statesman of Valley Lee, as well as her siblings Violet E. Robinson of Mechanicsville, MD and George A. Swales of Coloumbus, MS. Mary was preceded in death by her siblings Priscilla M. Statesman, and Paul Swales. Mary was a lifelong St. Mary’s County, MD resident and graduated from Cardinal Gibbons School. She worked as a Nurse’s Aide at the St. Mary’s County Health Department for 26 years, retiring on March 1, 1998. Phillip A. Metzger, 39, of Hollywood, MD, passed away suddenly on March 19, 2022 at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital. He was born October 15, 1982 at Calvert Memorial Hospital, beloved son of Danny S. Metzger and Laurie M. Dorsey, step-son of Joe P. Dorsey. He was the grandson of Sally and the late Edward Metzger of Inverness, FL, the late Carolyn and Walter Barcikowski of Hollywood, MD and the late Catherine and Shaffer Dorsey of Hollywood, MD. Phil was the loving big brother of Elizabeth Metzger, brother-in-law to Jamie Metzger, and uncle to Alexander Metzger, all of California, MD. As a boy Phil was very active in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts with his dad. Catherine E. “Cassie” Regan Gibson aged 94 of Lexington Park, MD passed away at Calvert Memorial Hospital on March 21, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 18, 1927 to Catherine E. Morris Regan and Cornelius P. Regan in Steelton, PA. Her family moved to Sparrows Point, MD in 1932. She attended St. Elizabeth’s Catholic High School and had numerous book-keeping jobs in Baltimore City, MD. She married Everett G “Bud” Gibson on September 25, 1948 at St Luke’s Catholic Church in Sparrows Point. After marriage, she moved with her husband around the country before he retired from the US Navy to St. Mary’s County in 1961. While raising her children, she was very active in the Girl Scouts of America, March of Dimes, Little Flower Catholic School, and St Vincent de Paul. She also worked at Hallmark for over 20 years. Travis Andrew Davis, born on May 22, 1993, was granted his angel wings on March 25, 2022. Travis was 28 years young; while his life was cut short, he managed to create such a memorable life while touching so many others along the way. Born to Brian and Tina Davis, Travis attended Holy Angels Sacred Heart School where he excelled in basketball, and later Chopticon High School where he enjoyed participating in the football and wrestling programs. Travis had an unassuming and captivating smile that could put anyone at ease. If you were to talk with him, even for a moment, you quickly became familiar with his infamous laugh; it was one of the most beautiful things about him. His sense of humor was second to none and he was as compassionate as he was funny. He loved all animals and children. Sarah Ann (Hill) (Butler) White passed away on March 26, 2022, after an extended illness at her home in Oakville, MD. She had been under the care of the St. Mary’s County At-Home Hospice Program Team. Sarah was born on June 6, 1933, in Oakville, MD, and was the daughter of parents George Edward Hill and Mary Beatrice Hill, both deceased. She was predeceased by her sisters, Elizabeth Jones, Eleanor Stewart, Elsie Berry, and Agnes Young and her brothers, Alex Courtney and Parren Courtney. In her first marriage to Phillip Butler (deceased), she was blessed with eight children; Philip (Louise) Butler, Sr. (Deceased), George (Lala) Butler, James (Darleen) Butler, Joseph Butler (deceased), John Pamela) Butler, Thomas Butler (deceased), Larry (Wanda) Butler, and Shirley Butler. She instilled in her children a strong work ethic and to make sure they stayed together as a team. Also left behind to cherish her memory are 16 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins. Melvin Joseph Muir Sr. passed away on April 1, 2022, in his home in Brandywine, MD. Melvin was born on March 17, 1950, in Pennsylvania. In 1964 Melvin moved with his family to Maryland. Melvin, or as his friends called him Mel, married the love of his life Madeline Jeanne Amarante on April 11, 1969. They were married for 50 years before Madeline’s passing in 2019. Mel lived a full life, he coached his son’s football teams while they were in grade school, built and raced drag bikes, built custom Harleys, and owned and ran a successful HVAC company until retiring in 2014 and moving to his daughter and son-in-law’s farm. Mel had a love for cattle and was able to pass on his knowledge of cattle and meat cutting skills to his daughter Cindy and Son in Law Tim. Mel had a vast knowledge of many life skills, such as electrical skills, welding skills, HVAC skills, internal combustion engines, many forms of carpentry skills and meat-cutting skills. Charlene Janet Mansfield, 86, of Gambrills, MD, passed away on March 30, 2022, at the University of MD Baltimore Washington Medical Center. She was born on January 7, 1936, to Henry T.  and Carrie M. Staples in Fairfax, VA. She was one (1) of eight (8) children. After graduating from Mt Vernon High School in 1955, she went on to work several different jobs before finding her profession as Chief of the NSA Movement Branch. She was incredible at her job and her work ethic was inspirational. In 1957, Charlene married Frederick Eugene Mansfield and together they went on to have three (3) children, Frederick Jr., Kelly, and Sandra. Together they shared 64 marvelous years of marriage together. Charlene was a wonderful and loving mother and wife, who gave her all to her family. Our mother, Charlene, was one of the strongest, most courageous, and kindest women to ever walk this earth and our family was blessed to have her as the head of the family. Carol Lee Hamilton, 72, of Waldorf, MD passed away after a brief illness on Friday, April 10, 2020 at University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center. She was born July 28, 1947 in Washington, D.C. to the late William Albert Higgs, Sr. and Alberta Higgs Moye.  She worked for the Evening Star Newspaper in Washington, D.C. and Aist & Associates in Waldorf, MD prior to retiring. Carol married the love of her life, George Wayne Hamilton in 1968. Together the celebrated over 52 years of marriage. She was a strong, caring and loving woman who adored her family.  She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.  Family was the most important thing to Carol and she made sure they all knew how much she cared for them. Charles Anthony “Charlie” Frain, Jr., 79

Charles Anthony “Charlie” Frain, Jr., 79, of Finksburg, MD passed away peacefully on March 30, 2022 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born on November 10, 1942 to the late Charles Anthony Frain, Sr. and Mary Daniel Hurst Kelley. Charlie attended high school in Baltimore County.  On March 30, 1960, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in March 1964.  During his service he earned the Rifle M-1 Marksman Badge. He spent his entire career employed as a dedicated civil engineer in the construction industry. On May 9, 1970, he married his beloved wife, Mary Lou Longmore Frain in Baltimore, MD.  Together they celebrated over 51 wonderful years of marriage. Charlie enjoyed taking vacations in Ocean City, MD with his family and visiting places like the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, and coastal Rhode Island throughout his retirement. David Allen Larson, 72

David Allen Larson, 72, of Leonardtown, MD passed away peacefully on March 30, 2022 with his loving family and friends at his side. He was born April 20, 1949, in Winona, Minnesota, the eighth of fourteen children to the late Donald and Margaret Larson.  As with most large families, he began working at age 11 as a paperboy, delivering the Winona Daily News on his bicycle.  He often joked that the only time his patrons did not answer their doors was when it was time to collect money for the paper. Upon graduating from Winona Senior High School, David attended Winona State College, and worked at Mr. T’s Restaurant.  There he met his wife of 51 years, also a student at the college, and they married on May 9th, 1970.  In 1969, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and after completing boot camp and electronics schools, David was stationed at the Brunswick Naval Air Station as an ASW technician.  After 5 years in Brunswick, his next tour was at Webster Outlying Field, St. Inigoes, Maryland, as an electronics technician until his honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy in November, 1976.  While active duty, David received the VP26 Sailor of the […]

Cyril Paul Gerek, 62 of Fairfax, VA passed away suddenly at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital on March 25, 2022. Paul was born on January 8, 1960 in Fairbanks, Alaska to Gloria Jeane Bowles Gerek and the late Cyril Patrick Gerek. After graduating Ryken High School in Leonardtown, MD, Paul worked at various automotive shops;  Pat’s Speed Shop, Aldridge Ford, and Ted Britt Ford.  He moved to Fairfax, VA where his love of the water and boating, along with his mechanical background, prompted him to open his own marine repair business, “Paul Gerek Enterprises”. Along the way, he achieved his Charter Boat Captain’s License. Krystal A. Carter, 37 of Hughesville, MD passed away on March 26, 2022 at home. She was born on May 25, 1985 in La Plata, MD to (the late) Joseph Shlemon and Tammy Jameson. Krystal was a lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County, MD. She attended Our Lady’s Catholic Church-Medley’s Neck. She loved being a mom to her three children who she cherished. She enjoyed visiting all of the local events around St. Mary’s County, one of those being the County Fair. They loved going on all the rides, playing the games, and visiting the animals, especially Krystal’s favorite, the chickens. She and her mom, and her sister (Kayla) loved being outdoors exploring trails, strolling the beach, and shopping. She is survived by her mother, Tammy, her father, (the late) Joseph, her step-father, Robbie, her children, Hunter, Brianna, and Scott Carter; her siblings, Kristina Russell of Valley Lee,  MD, Valerie Soto (Jonathon) of Lexington Park, MD, and Kayla Jordan (Jimmy) of Piney Point, MD; and her boyfriend, Robert Bean.
