Paul Norman Conrad, Jr., 85 of Mechanicsville, MD passed away on February 26, 2015 at University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center in La Plata, MD. Born May 24, 1929 in Orange, NJ, he was the beloved son of the late Paul N. Conrad, Sr. and the late Frances L. (VanDyke) Conrad. Paul was a master Electrician with Local 26 IBEW prior to his retirement. His hobbies were playing the piano, listening to music, the classic radio shows and Johnny Carson. He loved working on old radios, cars and anything else that needed “fixing.” He enjoyed having family cookouts and gatherings with friends and family. He was very active in his church and enjoyed spending time with his church family. In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by his daughter, Karen Lynne Conrad; his eldest son, John Norman Conrad; and his first wife, Marilyn Ruth Anderson Conrad. Rosetta Edna Young, 70 of Washington, D.C., passed away Saturday, February 14, 2015 at her residence. Born April 22, 1944, in Leonardtown, MD, she is the daughter of the late William Edward Young and Rose E. Willson. Rosetta was employed for over 40 years of dedicated service as an Administrator for the Social Security Administration. She was an excellent cook and loved to prepare family meals. She was an avid reader and a scholar; gaining knowledge and learning new things were intriguing to her. For entertainment she enjoyed playing the slots at the local nearby casinos. However, her greatest love was for her family. Craig Thomas Webber, 29 of Lusby, MD was born on November 27, 1985, in Jacksonville, NC. He lived his life with many adventures, though at times there were some misadventures. He was a protector and jokester to his older sister, Andrea Katherine and younger brother, Aaron Matthew Webber. He was the captain of his “Papa” Rotella’s boat at an early age, learning everything he could about being a fisherman. This love of the water brought Craig to pursue a career in the Navy in July 2004. What Craig learned of the water in the Navy was not compared to the riches he acquired in meeting the love of his life, Rose Mendoza. Craig married his “Rose” on March 16, 2007. Craig dived into a new life with Rose. Andrew “Johnson” Quade, Sr., 83, of Mechanicsville, MD passed away March 2, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 23, 1931, in Mechanicsville, MD, he is the son of the late Andrew Johnson Quade and Mary Elizabeth Pilkerton. Johnson enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country from December 8, 1955 to his Honorable Discharge on December 7, 1961. On April 7, 1958, he married his beloved wife, Mary Noema Knight, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hollywood, MD. Together they celebrated 24 wonderful years of marriage until her passing in July 1981. He was employed as a store clerk and meat cutter by Murphy’s Store in Oakville with 35 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed crabbing, watching wrestling and cheering on the Baltimore Orioles, and listening to “old” country and bluegrass music. In the warmer months, he loved cutting grass, keeping up his own yard, and helping his surrounding neighbors with theirs. Patricia Alyce Kelly, age 71 died Wednesday evening, March 4, 2014 at her home in Prince Frederick, MD from colon cancer. She was founder and Executive Director of Birthright of Prince Frederick for 15 years. She is a licensed clinical professional counselor and co-owner of Clifden Counseling Services. She held a doctoral degree from Brown University in English literature, was an associate professor of journalism at Northeastern University, authored several books, and was an award winning reporter for three Boston area daily newspapers before moving to Calvert County in 1992 from Massachusetts. Verline Mae Rucker, affectionately known as Vee, was born on June 6, 1944 in Trappe, MD, to the late Mazie Mae Mills and the late Philip Roberts and Robert Green (stepfather). Verline accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Scotts Methodist Church in Trappe, MD. Verline attended Cornerstone Peaceful Bible Baptist Church, Upper Marlboro, MD, with her son, until her death. Verline received her education in Washington, DC public schools and graduated from Eastern Senior High School in 1962. Vee retired from the United States Postal Service after 26 years of service in 1992. After retiring, she continued to work for the United State Postal Service as a contractor until 2007. Verline’s favorite pastime was bowling. Vee belonged to a bowling league until her health began to decline. She organized regularly scheduled bowling tournaments. On the morning of March 1, 2015, Czeslaw “Czes” S. J. Covington passed away at his home in Lexington Park, MD following an illness. He was the son of Alicja Czarnetska (nee Gawdzik) and Antoni Czarnetski whom preceded him in death. Czes was born in Brandon, Suffolk U.K. on May 25, 1962. On February 13, 1986 he married Christine Mary Ballard in Leonardtown MD. Czes enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country until his Honorable Discharge. He was born on February 15, 1943 to the late Franklin Aichele and Elizabeth Coshland Aichele in Philadelphia, PA. Terry was a 30 year career Philadelphia Fire Fighter. He played softball until he was in his 60’s, he was an avid sports fan who cheered for the Flyers, Eagles and the Phillies. He enjoyed horse racing and made an annual trip to Saratoga in New York to watch his favorite horse “Your Time is Up” race.
