Goldie Eudora Medley, 96 of Hollywood, MD died Saturday, July 11, 2015, at Chesapeake Shores Nursing Center in Lexington Park, MD. She was born on June 12, 1919 in Troutdale, VA to the late Arthur Wilson and Eudora Lucrita Anderson. On July 3, 1936, Goldie married her beloved husband, French Everett Medley. Together they celebrated over 74 wonderful years together. She was an excellent cook and made many beautiful quilts and blankets, many which were given as gifts to family members. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother; and she enjoyed spending time with her family. Goldie and French devoted their lives caring for their handicapped son, Timmy. Gayle McLean Kispert, 82 of St. Inigoes, MD, died Monday, July 13, 2015, at her residence. She was born on November 10, 1932 in Burlingame, CA, to the late George Robert McLean and Margaret Michaels McLean. In 1955, she married Capt. Lane Arthur Kispert (USN, Ret.) and together they spent 52 wonderful years together before his death in 2007. After marriage she accompanied him to various duty stations both in the United States and overseas during his 30 year career. While living overseas she volunteered with the American Red Cross, and was active with the Navy Relief Society when he was stationed in the United States. They settled in Maryland after his retirement and she then volunteered with the American Cancer Society, Meals on Wheels and was active in Trinity Episcopal Church in St. Mary’s City, where she served in various capacities for many years. Agnes Louise Bennett, 88 of Clements, MD, died Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Hospice House of St. Mary’s in Callaway, MD. She was born on May 11, 1927 to the late Thomas Cusic and Madeleine Thompson Cusic. In 1941, Agnes married her beloved husband, John Roland Bennett, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Leonardtown, MD. They were married 46 years before his passing in 1987. She was employed during World War II for Blue Cross in Washington, D.C. In the 1950s, she owned and managed the Joyce Ann shop in Leonardtown, MD. In the 1960s, she was owner and manager of Calvert Antiques in Leonardtown. In the 1980s, she opened Old Towne Antiques in Mechanicsville, MD.” Many years ago she was a docent and hostess for Sotterley Plantation. She was an accomplished seamstress and excellent home cook. Agnes loved history, particularly the folklore of St. Mary’s County. She was an avid reader, particularly Edgar Allen Poe and Samuel Coleridge. Frank E. Percell, Jr., 72 of Compton, MD, died Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 22, 1942 in Washington, D.C. to the late Frank Elmo Percell, Sr. and Margaret Louise Simmons Percell. Frank proudly served in the United States Navy from May 28, 1961 to his Honorable Discharge on December 2, 1966 as a Parachute Rigger Third Class. He was proud to have served on the funeral detail of President John F. Kennedy. On July 26, 1963 he married his beloved wife, and high school sweetheart, Lorraine A. Percell in Clinton, MD. Together they celebrated over 51 wonderful years of marriage. He was employed for approximately 10 years by Pitney Bowes as a service representative. He was employed by Prince George’s County Municipal Government until his retirement in 1983 as a Building Supervisor/Engineer. William Seymour Wolfe, 85, of Lusby, MD passed away on July 15, 2015 at his residence. Born November 26, 1929 in Oconto, WI, he was the son of the late Irving E. Wolfe and Eva V. (Wrobleski) Wolfe. William was a lithographer and was a member of the Printer’s Union Local 285 (GCIU). He enjoyed fishing, building, and being a handyman. William was a perfectionist, a hard worker, and a loyal and loving father and husband. William is survived by his wife, Kathryne Martin Wolfe; his children, JoAnne (Lou), Vicky (Tom), Sally (Joe), Chip (Bonnie), Steve (Wendy), Terese (Jim), Marcy (Jim), Tony (Cindy), Ted (Brenda), and Mike (Dianna); thirty grandchildren; forty six great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren with three to come; and sisters, Shirley Cedercranz and Patsy Rodgers. She completed the Institute of Children’s Literature Course of Study as well as additional college courses. Margaret was an avid writer of poetry and children’s books and enjoyed spending time with her friends, family and two cats Marlee and Andy. She was a kind and intelligent woman, a loyal friend and sister, and a dedicated wife and mother. Margaret is survived by her husband of forty seven years, Thomas S. James Gillis Montgomery, 55 of St. Leonard, MD passed away on July 16, 2015 at his home in St. Leonard, MD. He was born March 29, 1960 in Prince Frederick, MD to the Rindy P. and the late Willie Montgomery. Besides his father, James is also preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Parks, and brothers David Allen and Kenneth Willie Montgomery. James was a hard working man, starting out in the construction field as a heavy equipment operator at a young age. Due to his hard work and dedication he climbed the ranks to become a foreman for Reliable Contracting Company. His battle with Cancer ultimately forced him to retire early, but he didn’t let that slow him down. Much of free time was spent with his four legged children, listening to music, and continuing to work hard on home improvement projects. James was a car and train enthusiast. Thomas Gregory “Gregg” Fisher, 68 died Wednesday, July 15, 2015 in Mechanicsville, MD at the home he shared with the love of his life Patricia Jean Fisher. Gregg and Patty had recently celebrated thirty years of marriage. Gregg was born in the Bronx, NY on May 29, 1947 to the late John A. Fisher and Margaret F. Fisher (née Tarbell). He was also predeceased by his brother Gordon Lewis and his sister Frances Barnes. Gregg was a proud member of the Saint Regis Mohawk tribe of Akwesasne, NY, a part of the Iroquois Nation. He served in the United States Navy and received the National Defense Service Medal and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Dominican Republic). Gregg retired after working for nearly 25 years as a welder for the Brotherhood of Boilermakers out of Union Local #193 in Baltimore, MD. Ronald Russell Beeson, Sr., 76 of Hughesville, MD passed away July 15, 2015 at The University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center in La Plata, MD. Born April 13, 1939 in Uniontown, PA he was the son of the late Harry Russell Beeson and Aletha Fike. Ronald enjoyed spending time with family, travelling the United States and Canada, and fishing. He was a graduate of University of Maryland, joined the Army and later worked at PEPCO. He worked his way up to Supervisor, Customer Engineering where he managed several street lighting projects around Maryland, DC, and Virginia. CPO Donald Leroy Himes, USN (Ret.), 77 of Mechanicsville, MD, died Saturday, July 18, 2015, at Hospice House of St. Mary’s surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 30, 1938 in Porter, PA, to the late Boyd Melvin Himes and Anna Mae Bouch. In 1958, Don proudly enlisted in the United States Navy and served until his retirement and honorable discharge in 1979 as a Senior Chief Petty Officer in Avionics. After retirement he worked as a contractor for the Navy, then established C & H Flooring. He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting. He enjoyed taking hunting trips to the family home in Pennsylvania and to the local farms with his sons. He taught bow hunter safety and hunting safety to many people. He coached sports team for young people. One of his greatest accomplishments was helping to get schools in Maryland for children with disabilities and special education needs. He observed the lack of services for these children and testified before Maryland State Congress advocating for schools in Maryland, particularly St. Mary’s County. Marvin Carl Franzen, 87 of Lexington Park, MD, died Sunday, July 19, 2015, at Hospice House of St. Mary’s. He was born on January 24, 1928 in Britton, SD, to the late Carl Gunner Franzen and Ruth Cecelia Larson but grew up in Rutland. Marv was always trying to figure out how to make a nickel. He worked long hours with his father in the family grocery hardware merchandise store. He and his brother worked hard delivering propane and selling appliances. Marv graduated from North Dakota University with a Business Degree. It was there he was first introduced to property management as the house manager for Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. Soon after graduating Marv attended Officers Candidate School and became an officer in the United States Navy. On July 20, 1953 he married his beloved wife Joyce Marie Franzen in Fargo, ND. Together, they celebrated over 41 years of marriage before her passing in December 1994. Marv came to St. Mary’s County with the Navy. He was born on May 9, 1946 in Houston, TX to Mary Burkhardt Roach and the late Hollis L. Roach. In 1965, Charles proudly entered the United States Navy and dedicated over 32 years of service before his retirement and honorable discharge in 1997 as a Chief Warrant Officer 4. After retiring from the Navy, he was employed by the Department of Defense as the Deputy Director of A.I.M.D. On April 1, 1989, he married his beloved wife, Karen Ann Keeney in Virginia Beach, VA. She was born on September 20, 1929 in Riverhead, NY to the late Sidney P. Tuthill and Adelaide H. Satterly. On July 1, 1950, Virginia married her beloved husband, Robert N. Houston, in Mattituck, NY. Together they celebrated over 65 wonderful years together. She was a dedicated secretary at the Pearl River, NY School District for almost 20 years.
