Jennifer Chris Conger, 36 of Prince Frederick, MD passed away on July 5, 2015 in Prince Frederick, MD. She was born November 24, 1978 in Hialeah, FL, to Miguel and Anna Donayre. Jennifer joined the Navy in 1997. She served on the USS Nimitz where she met her future husband Tim. She has lived in San Diego and Spain. When she was discharges from the military she went into the Navy Reserves where she was still working as an Emergency Services Dispatcher. Some of Jennifer’s hobbies included working in and around her home, taking care of her chickens, sewing and shopping for her boys. She loved the color purple, unicorns, dragons and aliens. Beloved wife of Timothy Scott Conger, devoted mother of Miguel and Gabriel Conger. Daughter of Miguel and Anna Donayre, Jennifer is also survived by her brother, Miguel Donayre and her father and mother in law, Ken and Margie Conger. A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday July 14, 2015, 2 PM at St. Pauls Episcopal Church, Prince Frederick, MD. Interment will be private. Charles Ross Huseman, “Capt. Ross”, 92 of Abell, MD, passed away on July 6, 2015 at his home. Born on August 15, 1922 in Abell, MD, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Alice Bietzell Huseman. He was the loving husband of the late Elizabeth Lacey Huseman, whom he married on August 22, 1943 and preceded him in death on August 26, 2007. He is survived by his children: Charles A. (Linda) of Bushwood, MD, Charlene A. Norris (Cecil) of Hollywood, MD, Richard B. (Diane) of Hollywood, MD, Michael R. (Millie) of Abell, MD, Francis (Vickie) of Avenue, MD and Jeff (Theresa) of Ridgeville, SC, 10 Grandchildren, 10 Great –Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren. Siblings: Billy Huseman of Hollywood, MD and Beth Downs of Abell, MD. He was also preceded in death by his brother Harry Huseman. Capt. Kathleen Shannonhouse Usilton, 94 of Leonardtown, MD passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at her residence. Born on June 14, 1921 in Durants Neck, NC, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Gordon Shannonhouse and Mary Elizabeth Smith Shannonhouse. She moved to Washington, DC in 1938 to attend Washington School for Secretaries and was later employed by Hilbert Optical Company where she met her late husband David C. Usilton. They were married on September 27, 1941. Mr. & Mrs. Usilton moved to St. Mary’s County in 1951 when Mr. Usilton, who was an Optician, became the owner of Bowles Opticians in Leonardtown. Mrs. Usilton was a member of First Saints Community Church, St. Paul’s Campus in Leonardtown, where she sang in the choir, served on the Altar Guild, was a member of United Methodist Women and helped in the soup kitchen. He was the son of the late Walter and Vivian Barnes. Timothy was a member of the Mechanicsville Moose Lodge #495. He enjoyed golf, billiards, fishing, crabbing, and spending time with family and friends. John Elmer Hancock, 84 of Leonardtown, MD, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2015, at Chesapeake Shores Nursing Center in Lexington Park, MD. He was born on January 4, 1931 in Washington, D.C. to the late Richard Elmer Hancock and Gladys Beatrice Bennett. He served from 1948 to 1954 in the federally recognized Air National Guard of Washington, DC which was activated by the US Air Force during the Korean War at which time he was stationed in England. After being Honorably Discharged from the Air Force in 1953, he resumed working for Briggs & Company where he remained for over 20 years. John was then employed for over 20 years at Spring Hill Lake in the Maintenance Department. He enjoyed building computers, working on electronics, fishing, and crabbing. However, his greatest love was spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed vacationing in Ocean City every summer, taking his family to various attractions and museums in the Washington, D.C. area, and having backyard family picnics and ballgames. William “Bill” Richard Salter

William Richard Salter, or “Bill” as his friends called him, departed on July 5, 2015 at 1 p.m. of natural causes at the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home where he had been a resident in the assisted living facility for ten years. He was surrounded by his daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Nelson Miranda, at the time of death, as well as the devoted and skilled nursing staff at the facility. Bill was born in Sasser, GA on July 11, 1924 and was the 13th child of 14 of Jesse and Sally Salter. Bill served his Country as a Marine during WWII, and then as an Airman during the Korean conflict where he spent over two years in Korea and Japan. He also served in the Merchant Marines where he traveled the world and was on the Benjamin Harrison Merchant Ship when it was torpedoed by the Germans. Bill was exceptional at baseball and spent time playing in the Mexican league. Afterwards, he returned to Los Angeles where he trained and worked with the Los Angeles Police Department. Wilford Eugene “Bill” Cathey, 86 of Great Mills, MD, died Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at his home, in peaceful sleep. He was born on April 22, 1929 in Wewoka, OK, to the late Edd Cathey and Martha Chandler Cathey. Bill proudly served in the United States Navy as a Radioman from August 4, 1947 to his honorable discharge on August 8, 1951. While serving in the Navy he traveled the world and earned the Good Conduct Medal, China Service Medal, Naval Occupation Medal and Korean Service Medal. He married his beloved wife, Leveta Edwards Cathey in Depew, OK. Together they celebrated over 60 wonderful years of marriage. He served as a Minister, spreading the Word of God, for several churches throughout the country until his retirement. He was responsible for founding the Hollywood Free Will Baptist Church in Hollywood, FL. In 1975, he was in a tragic tobogganing accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down. With his strong faith and the support of his family, he continued to live his life as if he had no barriers at all. Born December 6, 1931 in Leesburg, VA, he was the son of the late Lawrence William DeHart and the late Hattie Frances Burns DeHart. Lawrence enjoyed fishing, hunting, family gatherings, spending time with family and friends, playing cards and family reunions. James Howard Miles (Bootsie) departed from this life on July 10, 2015 at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital. James was born on March 15, 1941 to the late Howard and Thelma Miles. James received his education at St. Joseph’s Catholic School, Morganza, MD and later in his life, attended The Center of Life Enrichment (Adult Day Care Center). He attended the Center everyday and enjoyed it as well. James loved to listen to country music, watching TV and loved to dance. James was a warm, friendly and loving person. He is much loved by his family and friends and he will be sadly missed. Zeller and Chester A. Zeller. Mary was the loving wife of the late George M. Beavan, whom she married on February 6, 1951 and who preceded her in death on February 28, 2009. She is preceded in death by her siblings; Kathleen Jackson, Josephine Borkowski both of Leonardtown, MD, and Chester A. Zeller, of Sarasota, FL. Born October 3, 1923 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of Harry Claude Lohman and Magdeline Jenny Ferraro Lohman. She retired as an Administrative Assistant for the Prince George’s County Government. Anna was a member of St. Michael’s Church, Baden, the Baden Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary, the Prince George’s County Credit Union, and the Greater Baden-Aquasco Civic Association. She also enjoyed reading, dancing and bowling. Jack Francis “Pop Pop” Cox, 82 of Tall Timbers, MD, formerly of St. Leonard, MD died Thursday, July 9, 2015, at his residence. He was born on July 3, 1933 in Washington, D.C., to the late Gordon C. Cox and Hilda Katherine Davis. He served in the United States Army as a Private from May 5, 1953 to his honorable discharge on May 5, 1955. While in the Army, he earned the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He was employed by Masonry, Inc., a company he and his brother and good friend, Paul McClanahan founded, as a Masonry Contractor until his retirement. He was very artistic and loved unique designs and architecture. He was extremely gifted and his expertise and eye for art, allowed him to build many beautiful pieces. On October 13, 1989, he married his beloved wife, Marilyn L. Cox, in Alexandria, VA and celebrated over 25 wonderful years of marriage. Together, he and his wife travelled the Intracoastal Waterway many times in their boat, the CrackerJack, to spend winters in Key Largo, FL. John Wesley Carter, Jr., 67 of St. Inigoes, MD, died Friday July 10, 2015 at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown, MD. He was born on September 6, 1947 to the late John Wesley Carter, Sr. and Violet Hensley Carter. He worked as a master carpenter and builder for well over 30 years both self-employed and with Carpenters Local 1590 until his retirement in 2011. He was a Vietnam veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife, M. Kay Carter of St. Inigoes, MD; his children, John Carter, III (Tammy) of Callaway, MD, Jay Carter of Lexington Park, MD, and Kathleen Caywood (Sean) of Mechanicsville, MD; his brother, Wayne Carter (Vickie) of Hollywood, MD; seven grandchildren, John Carter, Cheyenne Carter, Cierra Carter, Cydnee Carter, Jason Carter, Colten Caywood, Kaitlyn Law, and Ryan Lawrence; great grandson Max Carter; and his beloved pet Pomeranian, “Bo Bo”. Russell Williams, 93 of the Veterans Home in Charlotte Hall, MD, formerly of Hatboro, PA, died Sunday, July 12, 2015, at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital, Leonardtown, MD 20650. He was born on March 1, 1922 in Lansford, PA, to the late William Williams and Margaret Brimmer Williams. Russell proudly dedicated over 20 years of service as a Chief in the United States Navy. He served during World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. In 1941, he married his beloved wife, Jean Gardiner in Lansford, PA. Together they celebrated over 58 wonderful years together before her passing in 1999. Russell is survived by his daughter, Karen Williams of Callaway, MD; 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Maureen Williams and many extended family.
