Mary Elizabeth Janousek, 62 of Leonardtown, MD died on October 1, 2015 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born January 22, 1953, in O’Neill, NE, she is the daughter of the late Matthew Patrick McCabe and Elizabeth Ann Chase McCabe. On August 25, 1971, Mary married her childhood sweetheart, James A. Janousek in Freemont, NE. Together they celebrated over 44 wonderful years of marriage. She was a devoted wife supporting her husband throughout his military career, moving often and raising their daughter Jeannie. Her first job was in Hawaii at the Navy Exchange, while Jeannie attended pre-school. She was very sociable and made many friends. She moved with her family to St. Mary’s County MD in 1979 where she was employed by Marlyns’, a children’s shoe store. In 1981 her family was transferred to Virginia Beach VA where she started working in the banking industry; first with Virginia National Bank who became Sovran Bank which later became Nations Bank. Ernest “Ernie” Lee Friess of Coltons Point, MD went home to our Lord and Savior, September 30, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital, he was surrounded by his wife Aggie, Brother Joey, Aunt Mary Lou and cousins Connie and Pat Faunce. Ernie was born July 8, 1965 to Joe Boy and Cordia Friess. Ernie married Agnes Marie Faunce November 3, 1990 celebrating almost 25 years of marriage. Ernie and Aggie went on their first date May 11, 1985 in a Ford Pinto and had been together 30 years. Ernie retired from the State Highway Administration December 2009. Some of his favorite times were doing traffic light survey at night with friends and co-workers, Brenda Wathen and Mike Machesney. Ernie loved to play 50/50 raffle with his friend and co-worker Lewis Quade. Partners in crime, driving and Little Debbie cakes. Ernie was a gentle and loving husband and Dad to his beloved daughter Maria Faith. Born on August 12, 1948 in Cheverly, MD, he as the son of the late Anna Laura Gibson Litten and Kelly Carson Litten, Sr. Kit was the loving husband of Teresa A. Litten whom he married on December 22, 1990 in Leonardtown, MD. Kit is survived by his siblings; Don A Litten of Leonardtown, MD, Gary E. Litten of Leonardtown, MD Steve A. Litten of Hollywood, MD and faithful loving companion dog “Jodie”. He graduated from Chopticon High School and worked as a chef at Andrews Air Force Base in Forestville, MD. Mary was born in Washington, DC on February 7, 1926 to the late Milton Rollins and the late Ethel Rollins. Mary is also predeceased by her loving husband, the late George Roland; four brothers and one sister. Mary is survived by her daughter, Regina McKelvey; sons, George H. Roland, III, Earl Roland, Robert Roland and Paul Roland; as well as nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Mary was a stay-at-home mother who loved being home for her children. Steve is a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park. On October 5, 1984, Stephen married his beloved wife, Valarie J. Luers at the Methodist Church on St. George’s Island, MD. Harold Lloyd “Hal” Evans, 74 of St. Leonard, MD passed away on October 3, 2015 at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. Born October 14, 1940 in Somerset County, MD, he was the son of the late Fred G. Evans and Mary Virginia (Stine) Evans. Hal moved to Calvert County in 1960 from Deal Island, MD. He served in the Army National Guard for four years. As part of his service, he was deployed to maintain order during the 1968 riots in Baltimore, MD. Hal worked as a Maintenance Worker for the ARC of Southern Maryland for ten years, retiring in 2005. He enjoyed fishing, going to casinos, dining out, selling cars, drawing, and going on cruises with Debbie and friends. Archie “Junior” Page, 81 passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Calvert Memorial Hospital. He was born in Danville, VA on February 20, 1934 to the late Archie Broch Page and Dorothy Perry Hicks Page. As a young man he moved to Swansea, SC with his family. He came to Maryland when he was 15 years old and lived with Mr. and Mrs. Ed Chambers. His first job was at the A&P grocery store in Lexington Park, MD. In 1954, he began working for Safeway grocery store in Lexington Park, MD and dedicated 11 years of service before transferring to the Landover Safeway for another three years. In February 1955, he married Evelyn Calvert, and together they raised five children. He left Safeway to work for SMT Company for four years before buying his own truck, which he drove for seven years. After selling his truck he worked for Bay Country Construction until his retirement. In retirement he enjoyed fishing, eating out at Sandgates restaurant, and spending time with his family, including his beloved dog Sammy. Lt. Col. Anthony (Tony) Cianflone, 83 formerly of Crystal Lake and know by many as MR. C., passed on October 3 after a brief and courageous battle with cancer at the homes of his son and daughter-in-law in Hollywood, MD. Born in Carbondale, son of the late Paul and Margaret Perry Cianflone, Tony was a graduate of Penn State University and retired from both the United States Air Force and from his career as an educator in the Forest City School District. Tony was a volunteer with the local DAV organization, Forest Stewardship, U.S. Air Force recruitment, and was a member of St. Rose of Lima Parish. If you were blessed to ever meet Mr.C./Tony, you know that he had an amazing ability to make you feel like you were the only person that existed in the world at that moment. Evelyn Marie Adams, 94 of Tall Timbers, MD died on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 26, 1921 in Cedar Point, MD and is the daughter of the late John Clyde Jarboe and Minnie Fenhagen. On January 25, 1941, Evelyn married her beloved husband, Thomas Leroy “Kilroy” Adams, Sr. They celebrated over 63 wonderful years of marriage before his death in February 2006. She was employed at Patuxent River Naval Air Station as a draftsman until her retirement on February 27, 1981. Evelyn and her late husband Leroy were Tobacco farmers and kept a large garden of vegetables throughout their marriage that they shared with everyone. She enjoyed preparing the family meals and she always cooked large meals, often spending all day in the kitchen in order to provide a banquet style meal for everyone and all were welcomed to dine at her home. Like most great cooks from this generation she never used a measuring cup for any of her recipes and everything was always perfect. Born December 15, 1923 in Roanoke, VA, she was the daughter of the late Waverly Edward Moore and DeHaven (Rice) Moore. Jane graduated from Mt. Rainier High School, Mt. Rainier, MD in 1941 and attended Strayer Business School in Washington, DC. She married Donald S. Marsico on December 21, 1947 in Mt. Rainier Methodist Church. Jane worked as a secretary for the U.S. Government, first at the War Department in Washington, DC and then the new Pentagon building for the Department of Defense. Born on January 16, 1933 in Newport MD, he was the son of the late Agnes Blanche (Davis) Bowling and George Patterson Bowling. He was the youngest of three boys and spent most of his life on the family farm. Frank graduated from LaPlata High School in 1953 and joined the United States Army serving until Honorably Discharged in 1955. He returned home to work on the family farm and shortly thereafter met and married Phyllis Lee Guy on June 2, 1956.
