Rodney L. Ehnen, 54 of Mechanicsville, MD died at St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown, MD on November 2, 2015 after a courageous 4-year battle with cancer. Rodney was born on March 18, 1961 in Cherokee, OK to Buzz Ehnen and Evelyn Shirley. Rodney was a devoted husband and a loving father. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, the great outdoors and simply sitting on the front porch. He was a lifelong “diehard” fan of the Minnesota Vikings and missed no opportunity to see them in person when they were in town. After 21 years of service Rodney retired from the U.S. Air Force as a MSgt. He continued his work and love for aviation by joining The Boeing Company as a Field Service Rep supporting the Special Air Mission (Sam Fox) at Andrews A.F.B, the same mission he supported for the majority of his Air Force career. Rodney is survived by his wife of 27 years Marietta Ehnen; his sons, Rodney J. Ehnen, Drew A. Ehnen; brother, Jim Ehnen; sister-in-law, Diane Ehnen; nephews Jimmy Ehnen Jr. and Danny Ehnen. Born August 27, 1957 in Leonardtown, MD, she was the daughter of Margaret E. Cryer of Caret, VA and the late James D. Cryer, Sr. Susan is also survived by her siblings; James D. Cryer, Jr. of Leonardtown, MD, Judith E. Lynch of Caret, VA, William F. Cryer of Baltimore, MD, Mary L. Titus of Grove City, OH, Mary Beth Cryer of California, MD and Mark S. Cryer of Chesapeake, VA. Angela Adair Abell Steever “Tiny”, 93 of Leonardtown, MD passed away on November 1, 2015 in Crofton, MD. Born on March 11, 1922 in Clements, MD, she was the daughter of the late Florene Abell and Bernard Abell. Angela was the loving wife of the late Andrew Steever, who preceded her in death on September 7, 2012. Angela is survived by her children: Drew Steever of Vienna, VA, Gordon Steever of Severna Park, MD, 1 grandchild, 2 great grandchildren, and sister Lay Sterling of Shalimar, FL. She was preceded in death by her siblings; Bunny Marshall of Thurmont, MD and Reah Pullman of Ridge, MD. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1939 and was a homemaker. Angela was a sweet and wonderful Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, and friend who always had a kind word for everyone. She will be missed greatly. All Services will be private.

Born on September 30, 1962 in Leonardtown, MD, he was the loving son of Kathy Guy and Al Guy of Mechanicsville, MD. Al is survived by his son Christopher A. Guy of Mechanicsville, MD, siblings; Meme Stauffer of Chaptico, MD, Stan Guy, Steve Guy, and Clarke Guy all of Mechanicsville, MD. He was a lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County, MD. Al graduated from Lancaster High School Lancaster, VA in 1980 and worked as a carpenter. Arrangements have not been confirmed at this time.

David Ralph Speakman, 49 of Leonardtown, MD died on October 31, 2015 at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital in Clinton, MD. Born August 29, 1966, in Havre de Grace, MD, he is the son of the late Richard Arlen Speakman and Patricia Ann Steward. In 1984, David graduated from North East High School in Elkton, MD. He enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in 1987. On June 20, 1992, David married his beloved wife, Erin Mary McCauley. Together, they celebrated over 23 wonderful years of marriage. He was employed as a mechanical project planner at Patuxent River Naval Air Station for over 19 years. His hobbies included fishing, golfing, camping and hunting for shark teeth. However, his greatest love was spending time with his family. Christopher Ray Wade, 35, of Mechanicsville, MD passed on October 31, 2015. Born July 21, 1980 in Rogersville, TN he was the son Sandra L. Wade. Christopher is survived by his mother, brother Jason L. Wade; nephews Frankie, David Whitney and niece Izabella, his grandmother Patricia Price, and uncles Joseph West and Robert Price. Airman Craig Nicholas Mertens, 22 formerly of Mechanicsville MD, who was stationed at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona, was killed as a result of a motorcycle accident when a SUV pulled out in front of him. He was born May 29, 1993 in Silver Spring, MD. The son of Deborah Buchanan Mertens-Marzi and Eric Clinton Mertens. Step parents Bill Marzi and Lisa Mertens. Craig was a graduate of Chopticon High School and shortly after graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He loved snowboarding in Colorado with his family, playing basketball, sports and four wheeling with his friends. He was a Redskins fan. His most enjoyable pleasure was riding his motorcycle and being with his new friend Becca Sean and their new rescue dog Precious (Presh). Walter Lynn Shaw, 63 of Lexington Park, MD died peacefully on Monday, November 2, 2015 at his residence. He was born October 5, 1952 in Leonardtown, MD to Shirley Gardner Shaw and the late Jack Lynn Shaw. Walt graduated from Great Mills High School in 1971 and went on to Lincoln Technical Institute where he graduated at the top of his class in 1974. He was employed by the Federal Government working in the Calibration Lab until his retirement in March, 2013. He loved technology and enjoyed working on computers, internet shopping, collecting movies and hats, and following the careers of his favorite golfers. His passion was his 2006 Dodge Charger SRT8. Walt is survived by his Mother, Shirley Shaw, siblings, Jon Shaw and wife Chrissy of Milton, FL; Tim Shaw and wife Patty of Sarasota, FL; Glenda Sanders and husband Tim of Cockeysville, MD and Christopher Shaw of Lexington Park, MD. Elizabeth “Betty” Farrall Vaughan, 96 of LaPlata, MD died on November 4, 2015 at her home. Born on August 25, 1919, she was the daughter of Leo K. Farrall, Sr. and Adelaide Manning Farrall. A lifelong resident of Charles County, Betty graduated from Sacred Heart School in 1937, attended Georgetown University and graduated in 1940 with a degree in nursing. Following graduation, she did private duty nursing and then worked in the Veteran’s Hospital at Perry Point, MD. She joined the Navy in 1942 with a rank of ensign and left a full lieutenant. She served in Annapolis, MD and Charleston, SC. Upon leaving the Navy, she worked at the Marine Separation Center in VA. While in the Navy, she met and married Homer T. Vaughan of Henderson, KY. They married on September 21, 1946 and resided in LaPlata, MD. She continued her career as a nurse doing private duty in Southern Maryland, was a nurse for the Charles County School System and the Head Start Program. Born in Salem, OH on January 29, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Barnard and the late Helen Hall Barnard. Barbara was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her family was her life. She enjoyed bowling, crochet, sewing; she made her own clothing and her children’s. Barbara also enjoyed road trips and family vacations. Barbara was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Melvin Ray Cass; brother, Delbert Barnard and sister, Mae Bailey.
