Patricia Kronk Buckley, 76, of Leonardtown, MD passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 22, 1942 in Waynesburg, PA to the late Kenneth K. Kronk and Pauline Block Kronk. On June 3, 1961, she married James Merle Walters (divorced) of Rices Landing, PA. Together they had 3 daughters and finished raising her 2 brothers Ron and Jack Kronk. On July 29, 1977, she married her husband, Joseph Lawrence Buckley, at Andrews Air Force Base. They were married for 19 years before his passing in 1996. She was employed as an administrative assistant for the Natural History Museum in Washington D.C. until her retirement in 2002. She loved to travel. Her adventures included trips to Rome, France, China, Poland and The Holy Lands where she was baptized in the Dead Sea. She was very proud of her polish heritage and took many trips to Poland to visit her relatives. Her family lovingly nicknamed her Bob, which is short for babcia (bob-cha), polish grandmother. Alicia Anne Suarez Barosio, 34, of Great Mills, MD died peacefully on September 20, 2018 at Hospice House of St. Mary’s in Callaway, MD surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 10, 1984 in Millington, TN to Royce A. Suarez and Connie J. Harvey. Alicia was a devoted loving mother. She loved the Arts, drawing, sketching, and painting. She enjoyed cooking and watching movies with her son and daughter. She loved her fur babies, which included her dog Lightening and other pets. In addition to her parents, Alicia also survived by her children: Damian Evans and Donna Suarez; her siblings Catrina Suarez and Richard Suarez. . A Graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Chancellors Run Road, Great Mills, MD 20634. Interment will be private. Margaret was born on November 17, 1929, to the late Charles Henry McPherson and Emily Ruth Summers McPherson, in Aquasco, MD. In addition to her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Charles Webster Herbert, Jr.; her brothers, Kevin McPherson, Harry McPherson, and Joe McPherson; and sisters, Evelyn Mitchell and Dorothy Moler. Margaret is survived by her sons, Charles W. Herbert, III (Donna) and Pat Herbert (Debbie Hatton); and daughter, Debi Myers, all of Hughesville, MD; brothers, Jack McPherson (Baden, MD) and Michael McPherson (White Oak, MD); sisters, Judy Edelen (Baden, MD), Nancy Houser (Baden, MD), Emily Mills (Nokomis, FL), Rita Miller (Aquasco, MD), and Nora Maters (Naples, FL); eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Margaret Richardson Wernecke, 85, of Leonardtown, MD, passed away peacefully with her family beside her on September 21, 2018. She is survived by her son Ray and his wife, Helen; son David and his wife, Amy; grandchildren Kate, John, Sam, and Jake; and great grandson, Ace. Family was number one for Marge. Born on June 8, 1933 in Baltimore, MD to John Richardson and Margaret Richardson (Borgerding), the youngest of four sisters. She was baptized into the faith on July 2, 1933. Marge graduated in 1951 from Dundalk High School and from the University of Maryland Nursing School in 1954. She then served as a nurse in the United States Air Force. She married Richard “Dick” Wernecke on September 19, 1959, who preceded her in death in 1991. Marge and Dick focused their love and attention on raising their two boys. In 1975, Marge courageously returned to school and earned a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from St. Mary’s College of Maryland. She would later earn a master’s degree in education from George Washington University and was especially proud of her 4.0 GPA attained in all secondary coursework (a trait not passed down to her sons). James Cecil Barber, 82 of Mechanicsville, MD passed away at his residence in Mechanicsville, MD on September 26, 2018. James was born to the late Ninion Pinkney Barber, Jr. and Gladys Jane Anderson on March 26, 1936 in Leonardtown, MD. James worked as an electrician for Amtrak. Prior to that, James was a tractor trailer driver. He enjoyed being a driver for the Amish over the years. James is survived by his loving wife, Alice Barber; children, Jayna Michele Dempsey of Lincolnton, NC; James Kevin Barber of Mechanicsville, MD and his sister, Judy Curbow of Mechanicsville, MD and four grandchildren. Robert “Bob” Fulton Sealey, 92, of Fort Myers FL, passed away 9/21/2018. Bob was born March 22, 1926 in Sebring, FL to the late James Edward and Lossie (Wynn) Sealey. Bob, a World War II Navy veteran joined the military in 1942 and later stationed in Solomons, MD where he met and married his wife of 61 years, Betty Lou Garner in May of 1951. Before moving to Florida full-time in 2010, Bob spent most of his years in Calvert County where he raised six children. He enjoyed spending time with family, coaching baseball and softball, camping, music, dancing, and public service. Bob retired from the Federal Government where he worked as a Demolition Expert and a second career as a Security Guard. Bob was a Charter Member of the Solomons Volunteer Rescue Squad & Fire Department, the first volunteer service established in Calvert County in 1954. He was inducted into the Southern Maryland Fireman Association’s Hall of Fame in 1994, held many leaderships roles, served on multiple committees, taught first-aid, mentored dozens of young volunteers, and received numerous awards and accolades during his 60 plus years of volunteerism. Sheriff’s Office Investigating Stolen Trailer and Lawn-Care Equipment

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of a trailer and the lawn-care equipment that was stored inside. The theft occurred sometime between Monday, September 3, 2018, at 4:30 p.m. and Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at 8 a.m. from the rear of 46920 Bradley Blvd. in Lexington Park. The trailer is a 2016 V-nose Homesteader Patriot, VIN 5HABE1622GN050201. The trailer contained one Scag V-ride 20hp 36″ cut mower, one Scag Turf Tiger II 35hp 61″ cut mower, one Scag Turf Tiger II 35hp 72″ cut mower, one Tail Gate spreader, three Stihl leaf blowers, three Stihl trimmers, a Kombi Multi tools set, three Stihl hedge trimmers, trimmer line, a blade lock, Kawasaki oil and oil filters. Lois Ann (Pettit) Chilcoate, 77., March 3, 1941 – September 29, 2018., Lois passed peacefully at home following a 4 month battle with cancer. Currently living on the water in Tall Timbers, MD, she was originally from Stanley, VA and spent most of her life in Beltsville, MD. She spent her career as an accountant. Lois always enjoyed her friends and entertaining, with golf being her favorite pastime in her younger years. Her passion was her family, giving up anything to spend time with them. Her heart was always open and she was always the first one to offer support, love and help. Survived by daughter Tammy (Chilcoate) & son-in-law Paul McNeel, Grandsons Kyle McNeel & fiancé Kaylan Conally, Kirk & wife Crystal McNeel, 5 great-grandchildren – Kaydence, Lorelei, Finley, Davionn and Everlee, niece Nicci Plihal, brothers Billy and Buddy Pettit, daughter-in-law Neicie Guthrie-Chilcoate, and best friend Betty Breen. Predeceased by parents Ray & Dorothy Pettit, husband Bob Chilcoate, son Bryan Chilcoate, sister Barbara Clay, and great-grandson Lucian. A memorial service will be planned by the family. Sue Magee Purcell, 81, was born in Washington, DC on April 18, 1937 to Robert Aler Magee and Mary Elizabeth Jones Magee. She moved with her family to Locust Grove Farm in Drayden when she was in high school. She graduated from Great Mills High School, where she met her husband of 60 years, Charles K. Purcell of Lexington Park to whom she was forever loyal. Charles took loving care of Sue in their family home as she battled and ultimately succumbed to Alzheimer’s disease. Sue is survived by her children Liz Purcell Leskinen (John) of Leonardtown, Kirk Purcell (Connie) of Lexington Park, and Scott Purcell (Mary) of Tampa, Florida, and her brother Jim Magee (Chris) of Ocean Springs, MS. Sue is also survived by four grandchildren who she adored: David Purcell (Laurel) of Marysville, WA; Amanda (Mandy) Purcell of Lexington Park, Zakary Purcell of Lexington Park, and Gabrielle Purcell of Tampa, FL, and one great grandchild, Harper Purcell of Marysville. Ruth Regina Fitzpatrick “Dolly” (Age 91) passed away at her home of 61 years in Waldorf, MD on September 27, 2018. She was born October 25, 1926 in Washington, DC, to the late Joseph Walter and Regina Lillian Smith. Upon graduation from Notre Dame Academy, she married her husband of 55 years, the late William F. Fitzpatrick, Sr. A devoted wife and mother of nine children, Dolly also became a skilled seamstress, obtained a BS degree from University of MD, retired from a career with the Federal Trade Commission, and worked to age 80 for Dennis Anderson Construction Co. She was a huge Washington Nationals fan, avid reader, and active member of the Charles County Seniors. Dolly’s greatest joy was her family. Her unconditional love, strength in adversity, and infectious smile will be forever remembered. In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was predeceased by her brother, Joseph E. Joseph William Vestraci, Jr. “Joe”, 74, of Leonardtown, MD passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Charlotte Hall Veterans Home, in Charlotte Hall, MD. Joe was born in Washington D.C., on February 22, 1944 to the late Joseph and Elouise Vestraci. He grew up in South East Washington D.C. and Oxon Hill, MD. He began life-long community service with Silver Hill Volunteer Fire Department of Prince George’s County in 1964, with numerous roles including Company Chief to the Board of Directors President. Joe was in the U.S. Army from 1965-1966 plus reserves with Vietnam combat service. After the military, he worked through the ranks as a federal firefighter to Chief at Cheltenham Naval Base for 18 years, spent 2 years at the DC Fire Board as dispatcher, and was Deputy Chief at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital Fire Department where he retired. Together for 43 years with wife Catherine Vestraci, he leaves his treasured daughters, Gwendolyn Holt of Lakewood, CA and Katherine Burroughs (Jason Burroughs) of Leonardtown, MD, in addition to his grandsons, Tyler Reppel, Aiden Thomas and DJ Holt. Jean Beverly Nertney, of Leonardtown, Maryland, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2018 at the age of 92. She was born on March 20, 1926 in Wilmington, Delaware, to James Stoddard and Irene Stoddard. She was their only child. Jean raised her daughter, Linda, in Wilmington, Delaware and then moved to Hallandale, Florida upon retirement. She enjoyed jazz music, especially the songs of Louis Prima, and she was an avid writer of poetry and plays. Jean also loved watching the horses race at the nearby racetrack, where many of her friends owned and trained thoroughbreds. She will be remembered for her sharp wit, keen interest in current events, and deep love for her family. Jean is survived by grandson Kyle Dudderar and his wife, Celeste Dudderar (nee Grow) and their sons Cole, Jude, and Harris, of Longmont, Colorado and granddaughter, Heidi Dudderar, and her daughter, Jordan, of Riva, Maryland. She was predeceased by her parents and her beloved daughter, Linda Dudderar. Her passing is mourned by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends.
