Liliane Louise Jarboe, 88, of Leonardtown, Maryland, passed away peacefully with her family at her home on Pear Hill Farm on May 12, 2022. Liliane was born on August 12, 1933 in Herentals, Belgium to the late Gustav Lambrechts and Maria Smolders. Liliane grew up in Herentals and as child endured the Nazi occupation of Belgium during World War II. She worked as an administrative assistant in Belgium for several years and met her husband Robert Jarboe of Leonardtown, Maryland while he was stationed with the United States Air Force in Germany. They married in Herentals on April 12, 1958. Liliane moved to the United States with her husband and soon became a US citizen. Liliane and Robert enjoyed 55 years of marriage before his passing in 2013. Liliane worked in partnership with Robert keeping up the administrative side of the family’s farm and taking care of the home chores. She raised chickens and sold eggs to many neighbors and the local grocery store. She managed the household, canned vegetables, made wonderful jellies, while at the same time raising two sons and keeping them out of trouble as best she could. Eleanor Elizabeth Mistretta passed away on May 12, 2022 in her home surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 27,1942 in Woodhaven, NY to the late Paul and Leocadia Johnson, she was the oldest of five children. Eleanor is survived by her husband of 61 years, Sonny, as well as her loving children Deanna, Stevie/Karen, Eleanor, Denise/Nick, stepchildren Johnny, Bonnie/Michael, and Corinne/Bumper, and 20 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, plus one the way. She was preceded in death by her son Arthur and son-in-law Hank Evitts (Eleanor). Eleanor graduated from Franklin D. Lane High School in 1959. She married the love of her life, Sonny, in 1961. Eleanor enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, as well as crabbing, boating, and the beach life. She spent many days in the garden with her husband, as they walked through life holding hands together. They enjoyed their retired life on the Patuxent River. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 20, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Campton’s Funeral Home, Palmerton PA. A funeral service will be held at noon. Interment will follow at Skyview Memorial Gardens, Tamaqua, PA. A celebration of life will immediately follow at the Nesquehoning Recreation Center.

David Ernest Adams Sr., born on November 16, 1955 in Leonardtown, MD, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 13, 2022 at the age of 66. He is preceded in death by his father Ernest Thomas Adams Jr., mother Louise Goddard Adams, and two sons; Thomas Edward and Steven Wayne. He is survived by his loving wife Frances (Frankie), son David Jr. (Little David), granddaughter Haley Nicole (Haley Bug), adopted grandson Aiden (Little Man), and two sisters. David attended Little Flower School throughout his primary years, and graduated from Great Mills High School in 1973. He met his wife-to-be, Frankie, at the Valley Lee Carnival. They were married on May 13, 1975, and spent 47 years building a life and family together. His career spanned many years, working as a Foreman at NAS Pax River Transportation Department, followed by a Foreman Position at Great Mills Trading Post, ending his career as an owner and operator of D.E. Adams Excavating before retiring. David was a jokester, a fiercely loyal friend, and an amazing storyteller. Clarence O’Connell McDonagh, Jr., 92, of Hughesville, MD, peacefully passed away on May 20, 2022. Known by his nicknames “Brother” and “Mac”, he was born on August 23, 1929 in Baltimore, MD, to the late Clarence and Elsie McDonagh, their third child and only son. The family moved to Hughesville when he was two years old, and he attended local schools, including Charlotte Hall Military Academy. At 16 years old, Mac joined his father and other dedicated men of the area as a founding member of the Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department, an organization he and his family were proud to support his entire life. Mac joined his father’s business, the Hughesville Motor Company, and was involved in the automotive industry as a salesman for most of his adult life. He was known for his strong memory of his customers — encountering familiar faces even when he traveled out of the area. A common reply when asked by his children how he knew someone was “I sold him/her their car.” Mac never really ‘retired’ and worked until his health prevented him doing so, enjoying his last job at True Value Hardware in Charlotte Hall managing the automotive supplies. Gertrude Ethel Hawkins, 82, of Prince Frederick, MD, formerly of Crofton, MD, peacefully passed away on May 16, 2022, at Calvert Memorial Hospital in Prince Frederick, MD. She was born on October 14, 1939, to the late Melvin and Gertrude Leizear. She worked for several years at the Hecht Company in Washington DC and at the Giant in West Lanham Hills, MD. She enjoyed camping at the Goose Bay Marina with her family many years ago. She loved dogs and liked bowling, bingo, ceramics, and softball. She also liked watching football, baseball, and horse races, but her most favorite was when she drove to many of the Nascar Races. She spent her time in her later years making beautiful crocheted blankets for her family and friends. She liked a good work finder book and her solitaire game on her tablet. On February 5, 1958, she married Robert “Bobby” Hawkins and celebrated 54 years of marriage before his passing in 2013. Born on October 18, 1936, to George Nordmark and Greta Peterson in Glen Ridge, NJ, Eleanor was one of four children. Eleanor is survived by her children: Zina Trinidad of Charleston, SC; Cynthia Winoski of Charleston, SC; Anthony Trinidad and his wife Catherine of Mechanicsville, MD; Jeffrey Trinidad and his wife Katherine of Leland, NC; Elena Poe and her husband Timothy of Portsmouth, VA; Christina Numera-Segreti of Mechanicsville, MD; Michael Numera of Danville, IL; her nephews Vince Turner and Mike Numera; and many grandchildren & great-grandchildren. Binh An Ly (Alan), 54 of Lexington Park, MD, passed away on May 30, 2022 at home. He was born on April 18, 1968, in Viet Nam to the late Khoanh Quoc Luong and Ky An Ly. Binh worked hard as the owner of Elegant Nails and Millennium Nails both in California, MD. He married his lovely wife Hanh Luong in December 2006 and had been married for 15 years. Binh has 4 children Phi, Grace, Josh and Andy Ly. He was a handyman and was always busy working on things that needed to be fixed, either at the salons or around the house. Noel Temple Wood affectionately known as Tim was born on September 24, 1932 in Wisconsin as the oldest son of Noel G. Wood and Elisabeth Temple. Noel “Tim” spent his entire childhood growing up on the road moving from the north, to the west, the east and south due to his father serving in US Army. 1954 Tim graduating from the United States Naval Academy accepting his commission as an Ensign. That same year, Tim married the love of his life Mary Ann. The two of them would set sail on life’s journey together. Seeing the world and raising a beautiful family. Later, they  would join Cornerstone Presbyterian Church in Lexington Park, Maryland. After nearly 60 years of blissful and holy matrimony, Tim’s beloved Mary, the anchor of his heart passed away in March of 2013. Tim had an illustrious career in the United States Navy. His assignments ranged from being a professor of Naval Science, Commanding vessels, to even being a diplomatic attaché in Norway. Peggy Elaine (McCormick, Burton) Neidenbach,94, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 28, 2022. Peggy was born on September 10, 1927 in Capitol Heights, MD. Her happiest memories were spending time in Edgewater, MD at her Aunt’s Beach Cottage. As a young person her passions were dancing, swimming and movies. In her middle years, playing cards with a women’s club, canning and yard sales became her new passion. Peggy enjoyed going on field trips with her friends and weekly Uno games with the family during her Senior years. Many Chinese Checker games were played over the past few years along with the trips to the Dollar General and the Christmas tree store. She loved the Lord and shoes. Peggy’s career path took her to Potomac Iron works as a Statistic Typist. She was also an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Edgewater MD. Linda Whitehead-Truss Deatrick, 75, Leonardtown, MD passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital with her loving husband John Frederick Deatrick at her side. She was born on March 9, 1947, in Glasgow, United Kingdom to Muriel Nelson Whitehead and the late Vincent Whitehead.  She met her husband, John Frederick Deatrick, in London, England where she worked and where he was stationed at the US Navy offices in London.  She came to the United States after he was transferred to Washington, DC, to test their relationship in this country.  They married on November 7, 1970, to the love of her life, John, in Washington, D.C. at the National Presbyterian Church, adjacent to Naval Security Station where John was stationed.  Together they celebrated over 53 blessed and wonderful years together; based on love, a spirited interest in both each other’s needs and the world, and reconciliation when problems inevitably did arise over their long marriage and time together. Judith Ann Powers, 75, of Prince Frederick, MD, passed away on June 3, 2022. Judith was born on February 20, 1947, to the late John and Marjorie Stickley in Silver Spring, MD. After graduating from Wheaton High School, she went on to pursue a job as a florist working in a flower shop. Judith had two children who both predeceased her, Joseph Hill, Jr., and Kimberly Hill. After retiring, Judith spent her time sewing, quilting, entering those quilts into the Calvert County fair, and being with her grandkids and friends. She enjoyed going out to breakfast and lunch with her friends and especially loved the ice from Chick-fil-a, it was her favorite. She also enjoyed making masks for the community during the pandemic. Harry Herman Wacke, 69, of Charlotte Hall, MD, passed away on May 16, 2022. Harry was born on December 20, 1952, to the late Lewis and Helen Wacke in Manhattan, NY. After graduating from Franklin K. Lane High School in 1970, he went on to study Police Science/Criminal Justice at the Community College of the Air Force graduating in 1981. Harry and the love of his life, Rosa Wacke, wed in 1977. They have two children: Jesse Wacke of Lore City, OH, and Crystal Kijesky of La Plata, MD. He joined the Air Force in 1978, kicking off a twenty-year career in security and logistics.  Harry sacrificed personal time and energy to protect and defend our nation.  He worked the gate, flight line, and various locations guarding Andrew’s Air Force Base.  He loved the K-9 units; though he was never a dog-handler, he would call the working dogs “his puppies.” He would tell tales of different dignitaries and presidents he would guard during his time at Andrews. Emilia returned to the most capable and loving arms of The Lord on the date of April 25, 2022, at the age of 25. Robert Raymond “Bobby” Russell, 73 of Hollywood, MD passed away on May 25, 2022 at Hospice House of St. Mary’s in Callaway, MD with his loving family at his side. He was born on September 9, 1948 in Leonardtown, MD to the late William Francis Russell and Mary Gertrude Tippett Russell. Bobby was a lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County and attended Great Mills High School. On (date) he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge on (date).  He was employed for over 33 dedicated years as a plumber at the Architect of the Capital in Washington, D.C. Freida Kay Dixon, 67 of Lexington Park, MD passed away on May 23, 2022 at her residence with her loving family at her side. She was born on September 26, 1954 in Leonardtown, MD to the late J.T. West and Geneva Presley Farrell of Avenue, MD. Freida was a lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County.  She successfully completed the CETA Program (a secretarial program) at Charles County Community College (now known as the Community College of Southern Maryland). She was employed for over 25 dedicated years as a Library Technician for DynCorp at the Naval Test Pilot Center, Patuxent River until her retirement. She was detail oriented and kept meticulous records. On August 26, 1980, she married her beloved husband, Clayton Timothy Dixon in Leonardtown, MD. Together they celebrated over 41 wonderful years of marriage. She was a delicious home cook and was known for her southern style biscuits and gravy. Joanne Beth Cousins, loving wife and mother of three children, grandmother to seven grandchildren, passed away peacefully on May 4th, 2022, surrounded by family and loved ones at the age of 69. Joanne was born on March 14th, 1953 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Donald and Gladys Hoglund. After graduating from Lakeville High School, in 1971, she began her career as a bank customer representative. On December 18th, 1971 she married her High School sweetheart and the love of her life, Dwight Lee Cousins and together they raised a daughter, Jennifer and two sons, Christopher and David. Joanne followed her husband throughout his 30-year Naval Aviation career, traveling with him to many foreign ports, as well as a duty assignment in Japan. While forward deployed in Japan, as the Commanding Officer’s Wife, she led the Squadron Wives Club, looking after all of the younger Squadron wives while their husbands were deployed. Florence Ann Michalski, 89 of Arnold, MD (formerly of Leonardtown, MD) passed away on May 23, 2022. She was born on December 5, 1932 in Eastern Baltimore County, Dundalk, MD to the late Richard B. Lelonek and Elizabeth A. Glogowski. Flo was born and raised in Dundalk, MD.  She married Michael Michalski, the love of her life, in 1964. They travelled often with his jobs to many places, but her favorite was near home, Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania. She loved to read, and enjoyed classical music and opera, with season tickets to the Kennedy Center. She loved just as much traveling from Leonardtown to Annapolis for high school concerts, and later Bucknell University for recitals and other performances featuring family members. She treasured her family, including her many nieces and nephews, great and even great-great nieces and nephews.  She lovingly doted on them and was so generous, thoughtfully sending cards on every holiday and remembering everyone’s birthday.  Her home was full of their pictures, and her room in these last few years was decorated with photos and cards from them and drawings from the little ones.  She was a longtime member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church. On June 4, 2022, Cynthia Jean Donaldson died in the arms of her loving family, at her home in Avenue MD, after an extended battle with Lymphoma.  She was 74 years old. Cindy is survived by her husband Bob; their daughters, Jennifer (Steve) of Takoma Park, MD; and Jessica of Arlington, VA. and 3 grandchildren, Olivia, William, and Angel. Cindy was born on January 9, 1948 to the late Julian P. Gudmundson and Dorothy E. Bunning, in Tyler, MN.  She was preceded in death by her brother Julian P. Gudmundson, Jr. She graduated from Thurmont High School, near Camp David, MD in 1966 and went on to attend the University of Maryland where she graduated in 1977 with a BS degree after going to school and working full time. Cindy married Robert Edward Donaldson in 1978 after having met in 1972 while both were working for C&P Telephone. They purchased a townhouse on Capitol Hill in 1977 and proceeded to renovate it over the next 15 years. They welcomed Jennifer in 1984 and Jessica in 1987. Cindy rose to the position of Manager of the Government Business Office for Bell Atlantic where she retired after the arrival of her second child. Charles Henry Countiss, 63 of California, MD passed away on June 3rd, 2022 at the Hospice House of St. Mary’s. He was born on November 27, 1958 in Leonardtown, MD to the late Henry Frederick Countiss and Margaret Theresa (Holt) Countiss of Charlotte Hall, MD. Charles was a graduate of Chopticon High School in 1976. He was employed by Atlantic Broadband as a Construction/Cable Technician for 20 years. When he wasn’t working he enjoyed being outdoors at the field, or in his yard. He loved the game of softball and would never pass on watching and cheering on the Charlotte Hall All Star team. He took pride in keeping his possessions meticulously clean. He could always be found working in his yard and detailing his vehicles.
