Clyde Joseph Copsey passed away peacefully at home in White Plains, MD on May 26, 2022, he was 88 years old. Clyde was born on October 13, 1933, in Horse Landing, MD to the late Solomon Copsey and Carrie Mae Tippett. After losing his father at age 8, his mother remarried Elmer Buckler, he was raised on a farm in Mechanicsville, MD.  Clyde moved to Iowa at 17, where he lived with relatives and worked until he responded to the “draft” at age 20.  He served in the Army for 2 years.  Clyde returned to Maryland at the age of 24 to marry Shirley Ann Miedzinski of Hollywood, MD.  Clyde was a proprietor of several businesses, including the Sunoco Station in LaPlata, MD, and Valley Tire Center in Prescott Valley, AZ.  Clyde greatly enjoyed playing music with his band “Clyde Copsey and the Rhythm Masters” and “Country Gold”.  A man of faith and prayer, Clyde served as a Eucharistic Minister for the Catholic Church for 26 years, he also visited the sick and homebound to offer Communion. Joseph Howard Pickeral, 71, of Tall Timbers, MD, peacefully passed away on June 2, 2022. Joseph was born on July 1, 1950, to the late Edward and Mary Pickeral in the bustling city of La Plata, MD. Joseph graduated from Pomonkey High School with the Class of 1968. After graduation, he worked as a land surveyor for over 4 years. Joseph was passionate about surveying and loved what he did for a living. In 1968, he met Peggy Shirley – Pickeral in Accokeek, MD. Joseph and Peggy went on to have one child, Tonya Ridgell of Ridge, MD. Joseph retired in 2007 after working for 28 years at the Saint Elizabeth Hospital. While retired, Joseph had time to pursue his love of fishing, crabbing, and baseball. Joseph was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Mary Pickeral, and his brother Pete Pickeral. He is survived by his wife Peggy Pickeral of Tall Timbers, MD, his daughter Tonya Ridgell of Ridge, MD, his brother Richard Pickeral of Waldorf, MD, as well as his two grandchildren, Zachary Ridgell and Quinton Ridgell. Edward Ronald Obniski, 80, of California, MD passed away on June 5, 2022 at his home with his loving family at his side. He was born on July 4, 1941 in Shamokin, PA to the late Edward Walter Obniski and Helen Shingara Obniski. Ron is a 1959 graduate of Shamokin High School. The day after graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and proudly served his country until his Honorable Discharge in 1963 as an Electronic Countermeasures Repairman. In 1965, he began his career with the Department of Defense. He worked for over 38 dedicated years before his retirement as a Range Operations Coordinator in 2000. Wanting to continue serving the community, he became a Paraeducator for Leonardtown High School in 2003 and mentored students until 2013. On May 15, 1965, Ron married his beloved wife, Sarah Obniski at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Washington, D.C. Together they celebrated over 57 wonderful years of marriage sharing a love of the water, travel, reading, and practicing their faith. Harold Stephen Brukardt, 68, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 4, 2021, at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital, Leonardtown, MD. He was born on November 17, 1952, to the late Harold Arthur Brukardt and Marie May (Gayon), in Miami, FL. He moved to Maryland at age thirteen (13), where he would meet the love of his life, Kathryn Loretta Smith. They were married for forty-five (45) wonderful years and welcomed one son, Chris. Harold loved welding, so much so, that he made a career out of it. He worked for many years at Brandywine Heavy Truck and Equipment. They became an extended family and he enjoyed working on the heavy equipment and trucks. He also worked for Regal Construction Co., W & W Fabrication, and Alvenex. He enjoyed camping, muscle cars, and watching Star Trek with his faithful dog, Heidi. He was a loving husband and father, with a heart of gold. Louise Edith (Farrell) Payne, 98, of Compton, MD, passed away on May 22, 2022, in Leonardtown, MD. Born on March 1, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Edith Mabel (Bussler) Farrell and the late William Joseph Farrell, Sr. Louise was the loving wife of the late Joseph J. Payne, Jr., whom she married on May 2, 1948, in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Compton, MD, and who preceded her in death on January 23, 2014. She is survived by her siblings Mary Helen Farrell and Arthur Farrell, as well as many nieces and nephews. Louise was preceded in death by her siblings Bernard Farrell, Leonard “Tink” Farrell, William “Bill” Farrell, Jr., Hattie Farrell Ryce, and her twin sister, Alice (Farrell) Rice. Patricia Louise Cluff, 81, of Great Mills, MD, passed away on May 26, 2022 in Leonardtown, MD. Born on February 3, 1941 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy L. Zell and the late George T. Zell. Patricia is survived by her children James Kilinski of SC, Theresa Troiano of Great Mills, MD, Timothy Kilinski of Lusby, MD, and John Lacey of Aldie, VA, her siblings Shirley Hart of Woodbridge, VA, Michael Zell of Eastern Shore, MD, and Mary Rangel of Grant Pass, OR, as well as eight grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her brother, George Thomas Zell, Jr. Patricia moved to St. Mary’s County, MD in 2002 from Northern Virginia. She worked as a manager and bank teller. She was a devoted mother to Mike Anderson and Joan Diehl, both of Mechanicsville, MD, four grandchildren Justin Anderson (Denise), Travis Anderson, Julie Diehl, Brian Diehl (Amy), four great grandchildren Destiny Diehl, Kellan Anderson, Harper Anderson, and Finley Anderson, and with many nieces and nephews. Mary Ann Bean, 74, of Mechanicsville, MD passed away at her home on June 6, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Mary Ann was born August 27, 1947, in Leonardtown, MD to the late Hammett and Mary Catherine Stone (Hill). Mary Ann was the first of six children and grew up on Little Snow Hill Farm in Park Hall, MD. She was part of the last graduating class of St. Michael’s High School in 1965. Shortly after graduation, she met what would be the love of her life, Paul Bean of California, MD. The two got married April 8, 1967, at St. Michael’s Church and spent the next 55 years together raising family and creating so many memories together. Mary Ann was a stay-at-home mother while her three boys were in school and worked endlessly in her garden, flower beds, and family farms to ensure all three knew the value of hard work and family. Values that will be forever engrained in all three. Once the boys were out of the house, she worked at the Circuit Court in Leonardtown, MD and retired in 2005 with 15 years of service. He is also predeceased by his parents Woodrow Wilson and Agnes Teresa Norris, his in-laws James Clark and Ellen Dora Williams, and his brother Robert Lee Norris. James is survived by his sons James Walter “Wally” (Jackie) and Joseph Allen “Joey “(Nancy), three grandchildren Jake, Madison, and Lucas Norris. Alan Graves Dean, 86, of Lexington Park, MD, died on Thursday, June 9th, 2022, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown, MD. Born on January 23, 1936 in Helen, MD, he was the son of the late Sterling Wilson Dean and Grace Taylor Dean and the husband of Louise Loffler Dean, whom he married on June 23, 1962 at Hollywood United Methodist Church, Hollywood, MD, where he was a lifelong member. This month would have been their 60th wedding anniversary. Alan was a charter member of the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department. He later served as a Private First Class in the United States Army from 1958-1960.  After graduating from Great Mills High School in 1953, he worked for the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier advancing to Postmaster of Lexington Park, MD on February 5th ,1972, before retiring in 1991 after more than 30 years.  Alan then worked at Walmart as a greeter and assembler for more than 20 years.  He enjoyed auctions and fishing and crabbing in the local waters, putt-putt golf, visiting his friends at Walmart, and touring around the county in his white pickup truck.  Alan and Louise took more than 50 yearly trips to their favorite vacation […]

Sanfilippo, 98, of Leonardtown, MD died peacefully on June 9, 2022 at the Hermitage Assisted Living facility in Solomons, MD.  Sal previously resided in Tuscaloosa, AL (25 years) and Leominster, MA (20 years). Sal was born on January 1, 1924, in Corona, NY.  He was the son of the late Gaspare and Girolama Sanfilippo, first generation Americans, who emigrated to the United States from Sciacca, Sicily.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Emma C. Sanfilippo, his children Carole Ann Sanfilippo and Emma Rose Sanfilippo, and his siblings Geraldine Sanfilippo, Barbara Pascale, and Paul (Pete) Sanfilippo.  He is survived by his daughters Roberta C. Sanfilippo of Lusby, MD, and Linda Miedzinski (Robert) of Leonardtown, MD.  He is also survived by his grandchildren Jessica M. Kearney (Richie) of Stafford, VA, Christina L. Beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother Lois Anne Trent, 92, was peacefully called by God on June 10, 2022 while surrounded by her loving family at her home in Lexington Park, MD. Lois was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, James “Jim” Daniel Trent, Jr. (1926-2016). She is survived by all 10 of her children: Anne Russell, Laura Stein, Marian Wheeler, James D. Trent, III, Jonathan Trent, Christopher Trent, Elizabeth Trent, Joseph Trent, Constance Trent, and Paul Trent; 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, Jun 15, 2022, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., with prayers recited at 7:00 p.m. at Brinsfield Funeral Home, P.A., 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650. Doris Marita Balenger-Gilotti-Thompson, 81, of Mechanicsville, MD, passed away unexpectedly from a tragic automobile accident on 06 Jun 2022 in Charlotte Hall, MD. Born 18 Aug 1940, she was the third of 8 children born to the late Theodore Hiram “Ted” Balenger (d. 01 Jan 1965) and the late Essie Gertrude “Trudy” Stone-Balenger (d. 23 Mar 2005) In 1953 Doris graduated from St. Francis Xavier Catholic School in SE Washington, DC. She then attended St. Cecilia’s Catholic High School, at 601 East Capitol Street, SE Washington, DC. After completing her studies, Doris worked as a clerk at the Acacia Life Insurance Company, in Washington, DC., and helped her mother provide for her younger siblings. In the late 1950s, Doris met the love of her life, Aldo Augustion Gilotti. Raymond Carl Wilhelm, 75, of Leonardtown, Maryland passed away on June 2, 2022 after battling cancer.  He was born to Alfred and Freda Wilhelm in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After graduating Princeton High School in 1964, he went on to college at St. Cloud State University, University of Minnesota and then graduated from the University of Pittsburg.  He received a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Florida Institute of Technology in 1994. For several years, he lived in Pittsburgh and worked for Robertshaw Controls and Compunetics.  In 1980, with two partners, they formed Inventive Systems Inc in Lexington Park, Maryland providing engineering and computer programming to the US Navy and the design and manufacturing of bilge pumps.  In 1989 Ray went to work for PRB/Northrup Grumman in Hollywood Maryland retiring on 1 October 2021 after 32 years. Ray enjoyed woodworking, playing poker, watching basketball, motorcycle racing, and sailing on the Chesapeake Bay.   For many years, he raced sailboats out of Solomon’s Island, Maryland. Alice Grace Wheeler was born on September 14, 1961 in Michigan and passed away on May 27, 2022 in Washington, D.C. Known as “Ellie”, she traveled the country as a member of a military family with her mother Joyce, father Dean and sisters Carla, Debbie and Pam. She met her husband John Wayne Wheeler in high school and later had 2 children; Amber and Tiffany and gained a bonus daughter, Aryana. Ellie enjoyed spending time with her family, visiting various states in the country before moving to Florida in 1992, where she enjoyed the warm beaches for many years before moving back to Maryland. Ellie was preceded in death by her husband John Wayne Wheeler, father Dean Lattman and Sister Carla Lattman. Bruce Melvin Lyons, 79, of Mechanicsville, MD, peacefully passed away on June 5, 2022. Bruce was born on January 18, 1943, to the late James and Edna Lyons in the bustling city of Augusta, GA. Bruce served his country in the United States Air Force for 25 years and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. In 1969, he met Sandra Lyons in Augusta, GA. Bruce and Sandra went on to have one child, Christopher Lyons (Nicole) of Mechanicsville, MD. Bruce retired in 2000 after 25 years in the field. While retired, Bruce had time to pursue his love of playing golf and enjoyed listening to music. Bruce was predeceased by his parents, James and Edna Lyons. Brandon Douglas Evans, 47, of Hughesville, MD, passed away on June 10, 2022. He leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends who were always entertained by his stories and sense of humor.  He truly brought life to the party.  No matter the circumstance, you’d always leave with a story of something funny/crazy Brandon did while you were with him. Following high school, Brandon held a lifetime career in the HVAC industry.  Throughout his profession, he moved up through the ranks with determination and skill from helper to Operations Manager. Born on February 28, 1947 in Leonardtown, MD, he was the son of the late Joseph Raymond Bowles and Mary Helen Hill. He is also preceded in death by John and Marie Bowles who raised him, his three sons; Johnny, Ricky, and Patrick, and his great-grandson, Levi. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret, his son Mike Bowles (Barbara Kay), two daughters; Michelle Trossbach (Paul) and Joanne Brooks (Jason), his sister, Patsy Beavan, along with several half siblings, his grandchildren; Kayla Bowles, Kyle Bowles, Charlie Trossbach, Peter Trossbach, Andy Trossbach (April), Becky Lacey, Tiffinay Brooks, Devin Brooks, and Summer Brooks, and his great-grandchildren; Jaxon, Donald, Gauge, Kyle, and Ryan. Karin Ursula Frenzen, 85, of Lexington Park, MD, formerly of Hamburg, West Germany, passed away in Washington, D.C. on June 3, 2022. Born on October 17, 1936 in Hamburg, West Germany, she was the daughter of the late Hermann Landahl and Gerda Schmidt. Karin was the loving wife of the late Alfons Hermann Johann Frenzen, whom she married on June 10, 1966 in Hamburg-Barmbek/Uhlenhorst, Germany, and who preceded her in death on January 20, 2009. Karin is survived by her children Susanne Beeskau (Michael) of Green Cove Spring, FL and Markus Frenzen (Tushima) of Lexington Park, MD, grandchildren Jackie Meadows of Jacksonville, FL, Markus Frenzen, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, Jordan Frenzen of Lexington Park, MD, and Brianna Frenzen of Lexington Park, MD, as well as one great granddaughter Emilee Michele Meadows of Green Cove Spring, FL. Karin moved from Hamburg, West Germany to St. Mary’s County, MD on June 20, 1969. She was a homemaker for 56 years. A funeral service will be held at a later date.
