Audrey Dorman Keene, 89 of Mechanicsville, MD passed away peacefully February 5, 2015 at Hospice House of St. Mary’s surrounded by her loving family. Born October 16, 1925 in Coats, NC. She was the daughter of the late Robert E. Dorman and the late Ester G. Lucas. Audrey enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and hosting family gatherings at her home she shared with her daughter Debbie. She spent many years sewing beautiful quilts, making baskets & pottery, as well as cooking. When she was able, she loved to garden and enjoyed watching birds from her decks and windows. Her most recent pastime was completing hundreds of word searches, which kept her mind sharp. Prior to her retirement, she worked for Arlington County Health Department in Virginia for 25 years. She recently moved to Southern Maryland in 1998 to live near family. In addition to her parents, Audrey was predeceased by her husband Walter M. Keene, her son, W. Michael Keene, III, as well as her six brothers and sisters. Mary Virginia Severt Yearick, of Great Mills, MD died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday Feb 3, 2015 after an extended illness at Chesapeake Shores Nursing Center in Lexington Park. MD. Mary was born on March 5, 1928 in Ashe County, NC to the late Vennie Miller Severt and James Sherman Severt. In 1958 Mary married James Yearick who was also from Ashe County but had moved to St. Mary’s County years before in search of employment at what was then “the new “Patuxent River Naval Air Station. Together, they were married twenty seven years until James died in 1985. In Ashe County, Mary helped her family develop their cattle farm and worked at the Farmers’ Cooperative Exchange (FCX) store. When she came to Maryland she was employed briefly at the Supply Department on the Naval Base. Mary’s major career was at St. Mary’s College of Maryland where she worked in the accounting department until her retirement in 1992. Mary was a wonderful gardener and grew vegetables for her family and friends. She loved cooking southern style dinners and always made more than everyone could eat. Alma “Lois” Joyce (Giacobbe), 76 of Prince Frederick, MD, formerly of Silver Spring, MD, passed away peacefully February 4, 2015. Born in Philadelphia, PA, on March 7, 1938, she was the beloved daughter of Charles Giacobbe and Maryanne Giacobbe (Gorska). She was married to Martin P. Joyce, Jr. on October 22, 1960 in Philadelphia, PA. Lois retired from the Calvert County Public School System as a library aide. She was an avid reader, devoted dog owner and loving “Grandmom”, mother, wife, daughter, sister, cousin and friend. She will be dearly missed by all those who had the privilege to know her. Predeceased by her parents and sister, Adaline Gallager, Lois is survived by her husband of 54 years, Martin P. Joyce, Jr.; her son, Andy M. Joyce and his wife Alana M. Joyce of Kensington, MD. She was the adored grandmother to seven grandchildren – Trevor, Kelsey, Audrey, Ethan, Aidan, Joey and Gemma. Margaret Colleen Hurley, 74 of Mechanicsville, MD passed away February 7, 2015 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 25, 1940, in Bristol, VA, she is the daughter of the late George Roosevelt Blair and Edith Daisy Eugenia Terry. On October 18, 1957, Margaret married her beloved husband, Leon Scott Hurley. Together they celebrated 57 wonderful years of marriage. She was an active past member of First Baptist Church of LaPlata and Leonardtown Baptist Church. She served as nursery coordinator in both churches and also volunteered at bible school. She was an excellent cook. Her greatest love was for her family, with whom she loved to spend her time. In addition to her husband, she is also survived by her children, Michael Shawn Hurley (Dorothy) of Mechanicsville, MD, Tabitha Dawn Krauel (Robert) of LaPlata, MD, and John Shannon Hurley (Donna) of Hollywood, MD; her brothers, Robert Lee Blair, George Terry Blair, and Marvin Steele Blair; 15 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Victor Emanuel Bieber, Jr., 91 of Drayden, MD, passed away February 5, 2015 at Solomons Nursing Center, Solomons, MD. Born on July 29, 1923, in Washington, D.C., he is the son of the late Victor Emil Bieber and Madeleine Catloth. Victor earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Maryland and a Master’s in Applied Physics from Harvard University. On May 26, 1945, he married his beloved wife, Elizabeth Denham, in Washington, D.C. Together they celebrated over 69 wonderful years of marriage. He was employed by the U.S. Federal Government/Dept of the Navy/NAVAIR as an Aeronautical Engineer with 33 years of dedicated service before his retirement in 1979. He was an avid reader, and enjoyed fishing, boating, and camping. He and his wife enjoyed traveling around the world. He was a talented handyman, and built his first house in Chevy Chase, MD and a cottage at White Sands, MD. LTJG Casey Alexander Czarzasty, USN, 26 of Virginia Beach, VA passed away February 2, 2015 in Chicago, IL. Born on May 26, 1988, in Norfolk, VA, he is the son of Captain Mark Walter Czarzasty, USN (Ret) and Linda Marie Czarzasty (step-mother) of Great Mills, MD and the late Amy Marie Siddall Czarzasty. Casey attended St. Gregory the Great Catholic School in Virginia Beach, VA and St. Michael’s Catholic School in Ridge, MD. He is a 2006 graduate of St. Mary’s Ryken High School in Leonardtown, MD. In 2007 he graduated from The Peddie School and in 2011 he graduated from the United States Naval Academy. Casey was stationed at Commander, Surface Forces Atlantic (SURFLANT), Norfolk, VA. Casey was an avid sports fan, and especially loved to watch his Philadelphia Eagles. In high school he played on the basketball, lacrosse, and track teams. His hobbies included sports, karaoke, and vacationing with his family at Long Beach Island (LBI), NJ. Dorothy Lillian “Dot” Simms, 86 of Ridge, MD passed away February 8, 2015 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 16, 1929, in Ednor, MD, she is the daughter of the late Clifford Raymond Allen, Sr. and Helen Augusta Henton. On March 1, 1950, Dot married her beloved husband, Charles Hall Simms, at Moffett Field, CA. They celebrated 64 wonderful years of marriage together. She spent many years supporting her husband and family as they travelled with the Navy. She was a dedicated teacher at St. John Regis Catholic School, Father Andrew White Catholic School and St. Michael’s Catholic School for 30 years until her retirement in 1979. She enjoyed baking, in which she produced beautiful, professionally decorated cakes. In retirement, she enjoyed an Alaskan cruise with her husband. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, St. Michael’s Catholic Church, the Ladies of Charity, and the Red Hat Society. Justine Margaret Seyfried, 93, of Fredericksburg, VA, formerly of Mechanicsville, MD passed away peacefully February 8, 2015 at Heartfields Assisted Living in Fredericksburg, VA. She was born July 31, 1921 in New York City, NY. She was the daughter of the late Emil Williams and the late Emma Burke Page. Justine enjoyed ceramics, sewing, and crafts. She helped to get the Northern Senior Center in Charlotte Hall, MD going. In addition to her parents, Justine was predeceased by her husband Andrew Seyfried. Justine is survived by her sons, Edward Seyfried and Malcolm Decker, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. George Demetrios Makrakis, 78 of Lexington Park, MD, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Hospice House of St. Mary’s in Callaway, MD. Born on April 1, 1936, in Piraeus, Greece, he is the son of the late Demetrios Makrakis and Elenie Karides. George was a 1960 graduate of Auburn University in Auburn, AL. He was employed by the U.S. Department of Defense as an electrical engineer for over thirty years of dedicated services until his retirement in 2001. In June 1962, he married his beloved wife, Wanda Bowling Makrakis in Maryville, TN. Together they celebrated 52 wonderful years of marriage together. His hobbies included home projects, electronic design work, fishing, gardening, celebrating birthdays and holidays with family. He also enjoyed dabbling in the stock market, watching soccer and cheering on the Washington Redskins. He enjoyed visiting his family in Greece. However, his greatest love was for his family, he especially loved spending time with his grandsons. Shirley Mason, 89 of Solomons, MD passed away on February 5, 2015 at Solomons Nursing Center. Born January 1, 1926 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Walter Lee Mason, Sr. and Rosa Dahlia Butler Mason. Shirley graduated from McKinley High School in 1945. She served in the United States Navy from 1951 until 1956. She was an insurance agent and also worked for the Department of Energy. Shirley enjoyed crafts, boating, and bingo and was a member of the American Legion Post #274, Lusby, MD. Shirley is survived by her nieces, Diane Mason of SC, Sandra Hachem of WV, and Rosa Rivera of VA, nephew, Owen Mason, Jr. of FL, and her devoted friend Caroline C. Clarke of California, MD. Robert “Bob” George Isenberg, 50 of Augusta, WV and formerly of Southern Maryland passed away on February 11, 2015 at Hampshire Memorial Hospital in Romney, WV. He was born on February 22, 1964 to the late William R. Isenberg, Sr. and the late Mary K. (Koenig) Isenberg. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also loved to take camping trips with his wife, Betty and his two dogs. Bob and Betty had been together for 26 years and married for 13 years October 25, 2001. Bob was currently working as a small engine mechanic at Mill Creek Saw Shop in West Virginia. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by a granddaughter, Kimberly A. Martha “Marti” Dargan Quigley 74 of LaPlata, MD. died on February 11, 2015 at the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center. She was born on July 18, 1940 in Washington, DC to the late Thomas and Martha Dargan. She is also predeceased by her husband Burton “Bud” Quigley. She is survived by her uncle Gerald Wittenauer, Sr., cousins Mary Lee Maker and her son Daniel, Gerald Whittenhauer, Jr. and his wife Ann, Dianne Anderson and her husband Bobby, Danny Ellis and his wife Pam. Marti grew up in Hillcrest Heights and graduated from Suitland High School. She gave many years of service to the Federal Government retiring from the National Archives. She was a long time resident of LaPlata, loved her dogs and decorating her yard with beautiful plants and flowers. She was also an avid Redskins fan and an animal advocate. She will be missed by all. Sally Ann Freeman, 71 of Great Mills, MD passed away February 14, 2015 at her residence. Born on November 13, 1943, in Towanda, PA, she is the daughter of the late Dewitt Eugene Stibgen and Margaret Gregg. Sally grew up in Pennsylvania. On November 27, 1987, she married her beloved husband, Troy W. Freeman, Sr. who preceded her in death in 2001. She was a loving nurse for over 20 years at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was a wonderful mother and wife and the greatest Grandma ever. She loved to cook, bake and to do crafts. She enjoyed plants and flowers especially sunflowers. You could always count on her to sing and play the piano. Her greatest love was her family whom she loved very much. Thomas Lee Click “Tommy” 61 died on February 12, 2015 at the Hospice House of Charles County. Tommy was born on December 27, 1953 in Kensington, MD to the late Meryl Click and the late Mavis (Jackson) Click. He is preceded in death by his brother, Stevie Click. Tommy is survived by his wife, Dorothy Click; son, Anthony McKenzie; daughters, Holly Huseman and Tammy Click; brother, Billy Click; sisters, Ann Shelton, Vicky Dawson and Amber Mason; and six grandchildren. Tommy worked in parts and sales at Harley Davidson in Hughesville, MD. He liked to fish, hike, and go camping in his spare time. He was a proud member of the NRA, liked motorcycles and loved the Washington Redskins Hogs. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He will be missed by many. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, 7865 Port Tobacco Road, Port Tobacco, MD 20677 from 10:30 AM until Mass time at 11 AM. Susan “Soozie” Ann Walker Musselman, 51 of Waldorf, MD passed away on February 12, 2015 at Bay Ridge Health Care Center in Annapolis, MD. She was born on November 15, 1963 in Washington, DC to the late Chilton Thomas Walker and the late Norma Jean (Shepard) Walker. In her younger years, Soozie enjoyed water sports. She also liked swimming, knitting and watching her soap operas on TV. Soozie was a Christian lady and loved collecting things. Soozie worked as an administrative assistant for Clinton Fence. Soozie is survived by her son, Graig Musselman; brother, Danny Walker (Beth); Sister, Bonnie Walker; nieces, Lacey, Courtney and Ashley; and nephews, Domonick and Dalton. Family and friends will be received to celebrate Soozie’s life on Saturday, February 21, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622.
