Barry Dale Whittington, Jr., 32 of Leonardtown, MD died May 9, 2015 after a tragic accident. He was born on March 24, 1983 in Prince Frederick, MD to Susan Elizabeth Brooks Buckler. Barry was employed as an installer for Parran Flooring. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, grilling, and cheering on the Washington Redskins and Boston Red Sox’s. He took great pride in his tattoos. However, his greatest love was spending time with his family, especially his children. In addition to his parents, Barry is also survived by his wife, Katrina Whittington, his children, Keith Dale Whittington, Shaye Lynne-Bell Whittington, and Trinaty McKenna Whittington; his siblings, Shannon Corbin (Michael) of Mechanicsville, MD, David Snider (Chelsey), Tiffany Whittington (Maury); his step-father, Joe Buckler, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Shirley Agnes Brown, 87 of Valley Lee, MD died May 13, 2015 at St. Mary’s Nursing Center in Leonardtown, MD, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 24, 1927 in Albany, NY to the late James Russell Davis and Jessie Mary Tilley. Shirley married Lawrence Sidney Franck and spent over 30 wonderful years together before his passing in 1995. In June 1998 she married Kenneth E. Brown, and they spent over 10 great years together before his passing in 2008. She enjoyed dancing, bowling, playing the slot machines and cooking. She was a fabulous cook and made many delicious family meals. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family. Frances Lea Foster Lakes, 92 a long-time resident of LaPlata, MD, died Wednesday, May 13, 2015, in LaPlata. Frances was born on October 31, 1922, in Wolfpen, Cabell County, WV, the tenth child of Cecil and Effie (Nimmo) Foster. She grew up in Culloden, WV, and was salutatorian of her graduating class at Milton High School in 1941. After graduation Frances worked in the Accounting Department for the First Huntington National Bank in Huntington, WV. Frances continued to work in bookkeeping and office positions until she retired in 1985. Frances enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading, art, music, and taking care of her family. She was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church in LaPlata. Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lakes. She was the last surviving sibling of her five brothers and six sisters. Marco Cucinotta, 94 of Leonardtown, MD died Saturday, May 16, 2015 at St. Mary’s Nursing Center in Leonardtown, MD. He was born on August 5, 1920 in Sicily, Italy to the late Ambrogio Cucinotta and Vincenza San Marco. Marco married his beloved wife, Sonia Cucinotta on April 11, 1948 in Italy. Together they celebrated over 67 wonderful years of marriage. He began his career as a member of the Royal Police in Italy, and was part of the Allied Forces in World War II. In 1954, he moved to the United States and began working as a Master Carpenter. He was employed by several companies, including Alliance Woodworking. He made many exquisite pieces of furniture that were completed with meticulous detail. After over 32 years of master craftsmanship, he retired in 1985. He enjoyed bocce, dancing, playing cards, watching soccer, and taking cruises. He planted and harvested beautiful gardens for many years. He also enjoyed working in his garage and fixing things. Born on August 18, 1926 in LaPlata, MD, Joe was the son of the late James Armsworthy and Emma (Thompson) Armsworthy. Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey (Cooksey) Armsworthy; sisters, Lou Mae Mohr and Dolores Anderson; and brother, James Armsworthy. Joe is survived by his son, Eddie Armsworthy (Kim); daughters, Debbie Shifflette (Mark) and Mary Beth Swann (Larry); grandchildren, TJ Mohler (Liz), Lindsey Kirkland (Ryan), Joey Shifflette and Jimmy Shifflette. Lemuel Duey Bell, 88 died on Sunday May 17, 2015 with his family by his side at his home in Mechanicsville MD after succumbing to a long illness. Born in Dubois Maryland on February 2, 1927, Lem was the son of Charles Lemuel Bell and Margaret Gertrude Bell also of MD. Lem proudly served with the 346th Engineer General Service Regimen of the US Army during WWII. He went on to retire from his position as a depot supervisor at Wonder Bread Bakery. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Juanita Bell, 5 children-Mary F Payne, Lemuel Moran Bell, Douglas Edward Bell, Lillian Olivia Jamison and David Allen Bell along with 11 grandchildren and 21 Great grandchildren. Captain James Phillip Randall, 88 husband of Judith A. Wallace Randall, and resident of Asbury Solomons, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2015 in Solomons, MD. Born on November 11, 1926 in Memphis, TN, Captain Randall was the son of the late Frank Leigh Randall, Sr. and Blanche Ehler Randall Perin. Captain Randall attended school in Cincinnati, OH, graduating from Hughes High School in 1945. After graduation, he joined the Army Air Corps, serving from 1944 to 1946. After being discharged from the Air Force after the war, he attended the University of Cincinnati, graduating in 1952. He joined the Coast and Geodetic Survey (now NOAA) Commissioned Corps in 1954 from which he retired in 1978. In 1982 he began a career as a ship’s pilot in the waters of Southeast Alaska. He retired again in 1992. In addition to his wife, Captain Randall is survived by his four children, Mark P. Randall, Bridget Randall Cookfair, Anne Randall Goodwin, and Julie Randall Koehn. Joseph Thomas “Joe” Blosick, 86 of Lusby, MD, passed away on May 17, 2015 at the Burnett Calvert Hospice House. Born November 18, 1928 in Shamokin, PA, he was the son of the late Anna F. (Kleskie) Blosick and John A. Blosick. Joseph graduated from Shamokin High School in 1947. He served in the U.S. Navy from March 15, 1950 until December 18, 1953. He graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in 1958. Joseph married his wife Dolores on June 19, 1971 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Solomons, MD. Joseph worked for Bendix Corporation, Martin Marietta, the Gemini Space Project, and Lockheed-Martin. He retired as an electrical engineer from NSWC in 1991 after twenty seven years of service. Linda Kaye Burke, 46 of Port Republic passed away suddenly, Wednesday evening, May 13, 2015, after a car accident. Linda was born November 23, 1968 in Washington DC, the beloved daughter of John and Barbara Verdin of Huntingtown, MD. She was married to Kevin Burke, October 25, 1996 and was the loving mother to her four children, Rachel 17, Ryan 15, Riley 11 and Rowan 8. Linda graduated for Northern High School Class of 1986. She held various jobs throughout Maryland, from Marriott in Bethesda to Stoney’s in Calvert. Wherever she went her kind heart turned acquaintances into friends, and friends into family. Jacquelyn Wilkinson Crawford, 82 of Solomons, MD died peacefully in her sleep on May 11, 2015. Jacque was born in Winchester, MA on February 20, 1933 to Walter Edward and Leslie Payzant Wilkinson of Lynnfield, MA. Suffering from rheumatic fever as a child and confined to bed, her grandmother taught her to knit, crochet, cross-stitch, and sew. From that beginning, Mom’s hands would become her gift to so many. Graduating from Wakefield High School in 1950, she attended Centenary College in New Jersey. She was a woman of morphing talents; growing into the needs of her surroundings and life. After college, she married Marvin Arrick DuBois, Jr. Their life together brought her to Indiana and a 258-acre farm. While raising her first two children, Marvin (Tad) and Karen, Jacque learned to garden, ride, breed and raise horses, and manage a large farm. Paul McCashin, 84 of Lusby, MD passed away on May 19, 2015 at the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home. Born June 7, 1930 in Unionville, CT, he was the son of the late John McCashin and Mary (Barry) McCashin. Paul attended Unionville High School. He served in the U.S. Army from May 13, 1948 until April 7, 1952. He served in the Korean War, received 2 Bronze Service Stars, the Korean Service Medal, the UN Service Medal, CIB, and Parachute Badge. He was a member of the 187th Airborne Regiment, “The Rakkasans.” Paul married his wife, Barbara on July 2, 1955 in Crozet, VA. He moved to the county from Takoma Park, MD in 1996. Paul retired as a real estate agent. He was born on September 25, 1937 in Leonardtown, MD to James Manning Adams, Sr. and Jean Pierre Belk Adams. He was a lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County. He leaves his wife of 47 years, Charlene Ann (Long) Adams whom he married on October 7, 1967, his two daughters, Deborah Adams and her boyfriend Brent Wilkinson of Hollywood; and Jaclyn Jameson and her husband Duane Jameson of Mechanicsville; and granddaughters Kendall and Payton Jameson, also of Mechanicsville.
